Static Ip settings on galaxy s3 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello..
When I upgraded my android to 4.0.3 I can't find where to enter a static Ip address for Wifi. it's not in the advanced settings anymore, where did it go??

To set a fixed ip you must go to Settings, and wireless networks, wireless settings.
Then press the 'menu' button and from the pop-up menu go to 'Advanced'.
From there you can set up different things, among which also set up a fixed ip.

there is no wireless settings, you just click on advanced setting and no static ip is there, please check.

"Determined connection" is a bit vague. If you're talking about Wi-Fi, then you can do the following:
- Menu - Settings - Wireless & networks - Wi-Fi settings (Wi-Fi should already be enabled in order to access the settings)
- Press "Menu" key, select Advanced
- Enable "Use static IP" and have your way with the settings, including DNS.

[Q] cant see Advanced Wifi Settings in ICS

Guys,
I need help to find where are the advanced Wifi settings in ICS, in 2.2 or any 2.3 rom there is a advanced tab to configure advanced wifi settings, but in ICS 4.0.3 there says advanced but there is nothing to configure.!!
i am using OnceCosmics RC2 release - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428497
i have tried wifi static and similar software's but to no help.
(p.s) in 2.2, 2.3 i could configure a static IP without any software here while on ICS i cannot..
Suggestions?
Thoughts?
When you set up a network scroll down and click the show advance options check box then scroll down to change the proxy and IP settings. You cannot change the settings for a network you're currently connected to so you need to disconnect first then long press that network from the wifi list to edit network settings.
I'm running Passion 10.6, 4.0.3 -
If you go to Settings --> Wi-Fi, hit your Menu button, the Advanced tab will pop up, and there you can setup Network Notification, Wi-Fi on during sleep, and see your MAC and IP addresses.

[Q] Cant setup a static ip in my Samsung Galaxy S3?

Hello,
I just bought a new mobile 2 days ago: Samsung Galaxy S3 (International version GT-I9300)
I usually use an Ad-hoc connection network to browse internet from mobiles or another wireless device.
Now, with the new samsung device, i am unable to setup a static ip address to the mobile phone. Can someone please help me?
Note:
I already went through settings --> About Device --> Status --> IP Address marked as unavailable.
And
Settings --> Wi-Fi --> Advanced --> IP address Unavailable
I read on google, we should have had "enable IP address" and i cant seem to find it.
Other useful information: Android version: 4.04
Kernel version: 3.0.15
Thanks for helping in advance.
Kind regards
Takeur
Long press on your connected network and modify. You can only set static ip addresses individually for each network.

Like we both said, once the network is connected, in the list of wireless networks, long press the network and select "Modify".
You cannot set a static IP where you are looking. This would affect all wireless networks and also your carrier network. You would NOT want to be able to do that

The problem: the network never gets connected, as it needs a static IP first.
I understand the long press/ modify network. Even if i do it and configure the AP's IP, i cant setup the IP of my phone still.
Anybody who have the same phone as me, has he had more success please?
You don't need to actually connect. Scan so you can see it in the network list. Try to connect. As soon as you try to connect, even if it fails, you can then long press the network and modify it.

I just set the ip as follow: 192.168.1.30
The gateway is set to 192.168.1.1
Still there is no connection possible.
Cant help there.
Same problem here! Anyone found a solution?
I set the password, I enable Show advanced options, I set the static ip, gateway and DNS BUT the "connect" button(if I make my first connection) or the "save" button(if I chose modify) are greyed out on both cases!
does anyone know why?
p.s. I have done this with success in my Galaxy S2 with ICS!

I just found a solution!
I installed this app WiFi Manager found my wifi throught this app, setup the static IP, mask, gate, dns, saved and I was connected! then went to the android wifi menu, saw that this info was also saved there, so I uninstalled WiFiManager and now everything is OK!
Hello,
did u root ur device?
I installed that app too and configured the ip address for wlan card.
But when i checked with this application: "Display Wifi IP", it says that the ip is not configured.
Can u please post screenshots how u managed it?
Thanks in advance.

No, my phone is not rooted.
these are some screen shots of what I did:
1.wifimanager-push and hold the wifi
2.wifimanager-select "assign IP address"
3.wifimanager-write the IP, mask, gateway, DNS
4.android wifi settings- saved(forever) and connected (even if you uninstall wifimanager)

i did it that way too, however when i use the software "display wifi ip", it remains 0.0.0.0
With wifi manager, i was able to configure my ip, but looks like it is a permission issue
Anybody's else who knows something more?
Try changing your network prefix length to 32/24/16 or 8.
I had everything filled in completely and correctly except I left the length to 24 and the connect button was staying grayed out.
Once I changed it to 32 from the default 24 the button lite up and I immediately connected.

Already did that my friend.
The mobile is not rooted and we cant set up ad hoc networking (or a static wifi ip)
Simply pathetic.
People r making petitions as far as i no. Thanks a lot guys for helping out.
I have this problem too. I had my home WiFi with Static IP configured on my S3 a couple of weeks ago. Then I come back from a vacation, just to realize S3 forgets the WPA2 key to my network. "No worries", I said to myself, and tapped it in again.
Then I set IP settings to Static IP, but the IP address/mask/gateway/both DNS fields are all greyed out! I can't enter anything. This is ridiculous!
EDIT: Forget it guys. I'm stupid. It wasn't greyed out, but it was displaying an input mask in a grey colour. Ugh. Everything's ok.
My WIFI Fix Note 2
Ok, So here was my scenario:
I was unable to connect to my work wifi with hidden SDID and Static IP. Everytime I went to put it in, it wouldn't connect and then my wifi would turn off.
I had to find the app called AT&T Smart Wi-Fi. I turned off the wifi via this app.
After I did that, I went back into my settings and turned on the wifi under the settings dialog and not with this Smart Wi-Fi app. Then it finally let me connect, I managed to goto advanced settings after I was connected added my static IP and was good to go
Good luck everyone!

How do I change my wifi dns on this phone?

How do I do it?
Your own AP or a public one?
On your own simply update dhcp settings on the AP itself.
On a public go to wifi settings, long press on the ssid you are connected to; check "advanced option" then switch to static ip and set your desired dns.

[Q] Change Galaxy S3 Wifi Password

I got a new router so I have to change the password of the wireless access point I have. When I added it the first time, it added but didn't let me change the password for the wi-fi, and now whenever I try to connect, it won't. How do I change the password for it? I've tried connecting to it, I went to settings and the only option was advanced which just gives an option to make it a static IP address, no options to change the password. I also tried forgetting it, but it'll just pop up again and not allow me to enter any passwords.
maybe?
Assuming this *new* router supports this function, have you tried wps button setup? If not go to the settings/wifi on ur phone and forget network. Then press the menu button in the same place and shouls see wps pin entry etc. Chose whatever suits ur router
Hope this helps

Select the wifi connection name and long press it.
You should get a menu with "forget network" and "modify network config" options.
Modify network option, should allow you to change the password.
