I've bought a X10i phone, but now I have a few problems:
- When I've bought it I've checked for new updates and with that PC software (Sony PC Companion) I've made the firmware upgrade to the last one available from sony ericsson;
- After that the phone started to reboot and at the end stoped working;
- As i know the battery is not ok, I've bought a new one with more capacity (Gold 2680Mah from ECELL);
- As the phone don't start, I've made a "repair" from PC Companion and phone start working... the problem is that the reboots continue;
What should I do?
- Downgrade? How?
- Install custom rom? How?
Please give me some advise on this. I think my phone is not rooted yet (when is starting i press the BACK key and nothing happens).
Thanks in advance.
Is your X10 used or unused? You might got a defective.

It's used.
For now this phone looks to me very defective :/
The day I've bought it was working fine i think, after update and after i try to recharge it is all problems. That's why maybe it's not bad idea to downgrade or change to custom firmware.
Try to download the 2.3 version from the forum and flash it with flash tool. (Wipe everything.)

I've managed to download and install flash tool and flashed 2.1 version. I can't find 2.3 version or higher versions - links are not active.
For the moment I thought i have my problem solved and installed some nice themes on the phone (go theme) , but unfortunately i keep getting random reboots.
Any ideas? Should I make some firmware update? Should I try some other custom roms?
Please point me to the links.
Thanks

Try to root your phone, install recovery and install a custom Rom...When in recovery and before flashing the custom Rom,wipe everything(dalvik cache aswell)...I will look for the links on 2.3.3 later on and try to upload it if I still have it on my pc and if the links are down....If you can't wait for this, root your phone and install a custom firmware as stated above and see if the problem persist.

Yes, I've seen that and is already on my "favorites"... the problem is that the padlock is in grey, so i can't root with flash tool... before I install firmware 2.1 all was usable, so maybe i can do it if i update firmware.
Thanks anyway.

You still have stock kernel, for now its ok.
With that kernel you need to stay with stock based custom roms, like x10s, wolfbreaks.
Cm 7 & 9 and ics roms require a different kernel
I would start by flashing Rom in cwm then use flashtool and flash a Doomkernel. But dont forget to get WiFi.zip for that kernel.
Once you have done that and all is well start reading up on your favorite Rom and go for it. I say to start with stock and DooMKernel cuz there hard to mess up

I think i can't unlock bootloader because the "key" on flash tool is gray. I'll check it with that program soon.

Well you can do a couple things.
You can flash stock 2.3 and unlock bootloader.
You can flash a kernel, may get rid of reboot. Rom stays the same.
You can flash a Rom.
My opinion is unlock, kernel then Rom.
Root is built-in the custom roms, so dont worry about it. you will have it.

Not unlocked yet.
Rvrosa should read through the x10 development. Read the OP 's of different Roms, including the one from brenty108. Look at screen shots. Check for known bugs. A lot of Roms do not have fully working camera.
My favorite Rom is X10S

Hi
If you follow the forum you will find some posts of me trying to have last fw .62 rooted with CWM working. Even if some users can do it by OTA, other by other process I never have total success but like most of you…I simple wont to have last fw .62 working, rooted and with CWM also working. The best I get was .62fw rooted but without CWM working and if install fw.62 by the traditional way I just get SE logo and have to flash it again.
After several times I finally have it work…
The only thing I have so far is that I believe I flash what I think is last baseband and after I flash it my computer says I have a new fw to install!!
This process is using pieces of ideas from others so I just get a way of put all together and have it working for me and decide to share with you.
Like always you can try it at your own responsibility.
Fist you should have .42 fw installed.
Root it.
Install CWM XPERIA from market (not the traditional way)
Download this and put it on your SD card: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sea...tloaderlock/generic/generic620.2.zip/download
Reboot NEO on CWM and install the file.
Reboot your phone and install the previous downloaded file.
At this time you have fw .62 without kernel.
Reboot your phone again and again go to the icon of CWM and reinstall again CWM.
Put you phone off again and flash just the .62 kernel. You can use .62 complete fw and choose only to install kernel.
At this point you should have .62 fw with .62 kernel.
On my case I install CWM again just in case.
If you reboot and press down volume you will have access to CWM.
I flash what I read that was last baseband using this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?tfd8bdbdrcd4bpq (after that my computer advice me to update phone…don´t know way)
For those that consider my guide too nooby…guys was the only way I found…sorry.
For those that somehow contribute with links to have it compiled I thank them.

hi, recently i have installed some MIUI rom on my neo v, and was working perfect. but i wanted to go back to the stock roms, but i had a problem, and it was that it would take about 2 hours for every percent (using flashtool) !!! so i tried changing kernels, and the problem presisted, until i dont know how, i removed the kernel, and i couldn't install one again cuz it said that for doing so, i need to root my phone.
so basically, i have a phone without kernel and rom! can anyone help me fix it?
You don't need to root your phone to flash kernels. Flash kernels using fastboot. Do you have a nandroid backup?
Flash a stock ftf, sounds like you might have relocked your bootloader

and i have tried to do it in locked and unlocked bootloader, but there was no difference!
how many pc programs are there that can flash a rom?
is there any that can flash MIUI or CM roms (i mean zip ones)?
Flashtool for flash firmware like FTF file or flash kernel.
Fastboot for flash kernel only.
CWM for flash ROM through SD Card.
If u want revert back to stock.u will need FTF file and the right one flashtool...tick no verification final.

I'll attempt helping
Let's start with flashing a Stock ftf. U have one already. Use flashtool and do all as instructed. Untick Final Verification. Even if it is 2 hours per percent, just let it run. Perhaps your PC is slow.
And don't worry about battery running out. Did you know that when using recovery, if you remove the battery while the phone is still plugged into the computer, it won't turn off? It should be the same when using flashtool. Don't worry about battery
Once done, boot up your phone to check everything is done. If this worked, PM me, and I'll guide you through a MIUI flash.
You're welcome
1 more thing. Redownload the ftf. Maybe it is buggy.
Hey bro.
Is it fixed? Please let us know
sorry for being late to response!
good news, i fixed it! I dont know why i didn't try it sooner, but i tried flashing it with another pc, and it worked!

BTW, Jass, your theory about "infinite battery while connected to pc" didn't turned out to be true, and it made me buy a direct charger! so please do not do this at home, school or...
when flashing ftf roms check in log to see if it gets stuck in this message [Ending Flash Session] (cuz it wont continue flash anymore)
if yes
plug out the usb
restarst your computer
try different usb ports

@gregbradley: is that kernel from Neo V, based on .431? If yes, in .431 neo and neo v had different kernels, and when neo used neo v kernel user got problems as above. Not sure if it's same on .587

No. Don't do that.. You will end up with problems.
Don't do OTA updates on phones with unlocked bootlaoder, specially not if you used official method.
That update is because you have .587 fw and .431 kernel, that's why you got notification about update. Let me guess, it's ~14mb?
If you just wanna root, and keep stock kernel, try following my instructions.

If I may ask, since I see you didn't end up wit boot problems, did you unlock bootloader with unofficial way, with s1tool?
p.s. you have another option, since you have root access, install titanium backup, and uninstall update center app
but still, my advise is flash stock .587, hotboot kernel with CWM, install superuser.zip and that's it, you are on stock with superuser access.

as madyfish says, if you are just wanting to gain root access you dont need a new kernel, just follow his instructions. He has more knowledge than me on this.

Steps to do what?
What's missing in steps I already wrote?
Anw, learn to read sticky threads. This is old phone now, most of the instructions are in sticky threads.
I recently updated my friend's X10 to 2.3.3 (she was still on 2.1 - amazing).
I went forth and unlocked the boot loader and rooted the device - no issues at all.
Now I guess I simply wanted too much. Intrigued by all the ICS ROMs lying around here I finally decided to try one.
Good so I read a few howtos, and figured I needed to flash a new kernel before I flash a new rom. First things first, right?
So I flash feralab's v4.5 kernel as it seemed to be in a stable state. The next step would have been to install Vashida Reddys 003 ROM but I didn't get that far. Flashtool told me the kernel flash was successful... unfortunately the phone didn't boot anymore. Or only until the green Sony Ericsson logo
Desperately I downloaded SEUS and went back to stock.
What is it I did wrong? :-/

What do you mean by full wipe? factory reset, all the wipe options in xrecovery, format sd-card? Anything else?
Is it the right order to flash the kernel first and custom ics rom afterwards?

okay.. I'll give it another shot. If you are new to all this all these colorful threads with hundreds of posts to read are quite a chaos you know
If you take that rom, you need that kernel and afterwards you need these fixes and gapps and this shiny addon pack etc. etc. Oh well anything else would be too easy
do I use fastboot mode or flashmode to flash a kernel .ftf file?
Edit: Found another thread. The information there was inconclusive but apparently flashmode is the right choice.
Fun Fact. In Fera's V4 ROM the English installer says: Thanks for choosing feralabs or something similar. However the German translation says "You will regret choosing feralabs". I hope I don't

Use flashmode.
So did everything work out? If your friend wants all features working on her phone I suggest you stick to gingerbread. DonutHD stock gingerbread is a really nice fast and most importantly stable on. You could find it in the development section.
Ps. You need to be on stock kernel so you should flash 2.3.3 again(if not already done) and root and go from there. Do this if your a good friend ics for x10 us just not there yet. Give my regards.

I was very happy with the performance of GB on my xperia U but there was no root for GB. I was told that in order to get root I have to update to ICS. So I did via update manager and am on the 6.1..54 firmware. Its horrible, slow and laggy.
I used both methods of rooting, flashtool and Bin4ry's both have failed and dont work. My phone cannot be rooted.
So can anyone tell me how I can root this firmware?
Also can I go back to stock GB? if yes please tell me how.
Thank you

.54 cannot be rooted using binary but theres a method where you have to flash the .10 kernel and then root using binary and flash back the .54 kernel and you will be rooted.......
Search the dev thread for it you will find the kernels........

Does this method require unlocked bootloader? I mean the one involving flashing .10 kernel and then back .54 one. Sorry for the "noobish" question, but I just began to explore the root/flashing aspects of my XGO and the proccess is completely different from my previous samsung phone, so it's like begining from zero point again at knowledge.

No. Flashing stock kernel does not require unlocked bootloader, u can keep it locked. there are plenty of guides available here so dont worry.

Thanks for the reply. Indeed I managed to root, install CWM recovery and flashed my first rom at my XGO.
Another "noobish" question if you can answer is that I backed up my rom before flashing the custom rom, yet in the clockwordmod folder in internal memory now there is nothing in it. Did the flashing erased my back up? So I cannot get my original FW, since I didn't back it up at my pc? I mean I had greek FW branded to a carrier, so if I need to send it to service, how am I supposed to get it back? To be honest I didn't see a such situation coming so I was unprepared. FYI I flashed [FXP210] XperiaPremiuM™ v4 from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155343. Thanks for your help again!

No i didn't. I still have locked bootloader. that's why i flashed v4 rom for locked bootloader. Yet I may try v5, since it's compatible with LB as well. just i'll have to flash the boot.img through flashtool if I remember correctly from what I read in that thread.
