Need help installing SIMPlanner.apk - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently installed CyanogenMod 9 on my (international) Samsung Galaxy Note. However, I loved the calendar app that came with the original ROM on my Note called S Planner. I found the extracted .apk of this app, but if I try to install it, it says 'Application not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed'. I tried several methods I found using Google, but none worked. I hate to make another thread on these forums, but could anyone help me with this?
Please bear in mind I'm pretty much a n00b.

I have the same desire. I have a rooted sgh-i717 Note on which I'm running an AOSP 4.1 ROM. I'd really like to install the S-Planner App. I tried a similar apk file and got the same result.

First using any root explorer move you modified s planner app to your sd card now copy and paste the original s planner app to root>system>app
Now make the permissions
R w _
R_ _
R_ _
Now reboot your s planner will install
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.

The problem is, there is no original .apk of this app in the /system/app folder.

Ok than just put whatever app yo want to install in system>app
And make the permission
And reboot
It will install.
Many times i have installed apps like this which don't install manually..

I tried this method several times with Astro File Manager et File Manager (Super Manager)
but the application does not install.
I've done all permissions.
I have a Galaxy Note 1 GT-N7000 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2
Can you help me?
Thank you.

Ok this might be a stupid question but is there anyway to make this work on the mytouch 4g ? I moved from the vibrant to the 4g and I really dont want to use a normal task killer . I really liked how this worked . Thanks in advance !
Will this work on axura 2.2.5.7?
Update: I tried to install this but it didn't work. :-(

I downloaded and installed it right from this thread....didn't use root explorer. What is the correct way to install this, if mine was wrong.

Root Explorer or adb push to /system/app. Don't try to install like a normal app.
I just installed root explorer. Is this [LINK] a good tutorial on how to use RootExplorer... I couldn't find a step by step tutorial on xda.
root explorer is easy to use.
its just like using the stock files, but you can see other things that require root.
if your installing a app, and it won't let you install by just clicking it, then you go to the file, menu, copy/move, then go to system/app/ then paste/move it there, and then get out of that app, and in your app drawer, the app should be installed.
I'm running Cyanogen Mod on my Vibrant, and trying to get this APK installed. Using Root Explorer, I copied/pasted the APK to the system/app directory, but this didn't do anything.
Other things I tried:
- Opening all permissions to the APK that is in the system/app directory
- Rebooting
- Verifying that "allow non-market apps" is checked
- Using Root Explorer to browse to app, selecting it and choosing "install"
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this an incompatibility between the Task Manager "JobManager.apk" and Cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for anyone's advice.

More than likely, its an incompatibility issue between I'm assuming a 2.2 ROM and a CM7 which is 2.3.

[Q] Pushing App to System/App not in app drawer

Hello, just got the Thunderbolt coming from Samsung Vibrant. I've rooted and flashed deodexed stock rom, etc.
I want to install the AOSP File Manager and have placed the apk in System/App. I've checked all the permissions and rebooted multiple times but the app still doesn't show up in the app drawer? This worked on the Vibrant, not sure if something is different here?
Thanks for any help.
Weird but I figured it out. The file was named "File Manager -Copy.apk". For some reason didn't notice it. Deleted -Copy and it works fine.

[Q] Viewpad 7e and Market

Hello there.
I recived a brand new ViewPad 7e (the lowcost tab from ViewSonic) yesterday. Everything works fine (or, almost fine for that price...), but the 7e come without AndroidMarkets (nor Gmail apps, Google Account etc...). It's possible to use alternat market, but I'm looking to use the original one (and, most important, to set up a google account synchronysed with calendar) anyone got an idea to install that ? (I tried some trick for Archos etc... but nothing seems to work atm).
If somone got an idea... thanks in advance
My guess would be that it's missing the gapps framework, you can try installing the architecture independant gapps package from CM7, which "should" work.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps
Well, it worked by installing the gapps manually, the last point will be to put the market 3.1.3 or so (for the moment I only have th old one), thx again for your help.
Where can I find how to install gapps manually
you said it's possible, where can I find the steps to install it manually?
Thanks

Hi, I also get a Viewpad 7e, and download the Google Apps from CM7
But I could not install in manually after I unpack the Google Apps package.
System will say it is an invalid APK.
Could you help to release the package you install and installing steps?
Thanks.

I have the same problem : "System will say it is an invalid APK".
Could you explain what you think we are doing wrong ?
Thanks
Guys, cm7 market would not work for our devices as it doesnot meet the criteria for having google market. Yes is ironic but for now we have to rely on the market we have. We have to wait till someone make cm7 work forr our viewpad.
there's a way but i need to translate it because its in chinese i got it it on mine
charlies1112, if you can, it would be really nice to explain how you did it.
Yesterday, I was able to root the viewpad 7e using Gingerbreak v1.20.
Thank you in advance
instructions for getting android market on the viewpad 7e
go download this file from this link:
dl.dropbox.com/u/34743606/v7e.zip
put those five files onto the micro sd card
Step 1:
settings>applications>unknown sources>tick it
settings>applications>development> USB debugging> tick it
Step 2:
Go to the inbuilt app ES File Explorer
find the GingerBreakv1.20.apk
install the GingerBreakv1.20.apk (I installed it on mine but it made my micro sd card useless i dunno what was with this but it still got gingerbreak on it it just made card die so use at your own risk =_= it still install it fine tho might of been a defect of a cheap card)
Root the device by going through the steps
When you complete the steps you should see Superuser in your applications
Go back to ES File Explorer
Find Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Install Root Explorer v2.14.2.apk
Click allow for permissions for the Root Explorer
Once you have Root explorer installed open it and fine the folder sd card
Press and hold the Vending.apk until the menu pops up and choose copy
go back to Root Explorer
go to system
go into app
on the top press Mount R/W
and then press the paste button on the bottom
Find where you pasted Vending.apk
Hold Vending.apk for the menu and press permissions
Make sure all the columns are ticked and select OK
once you get to this step you should see the market icon but you're not done yet you need to go through the same thing you did for Vending.apk for GoogleServicesFramework.apk and MarketUpdater.apk
and you should get it i'll paste the chinese website the author posted pictures

Installing Gapps over an existing Gapps Install

Long story short, i have had the Droid razr for about a month and as soon I got the device, I flashed over the Black Widow ICS rom. Everything worked fine and smoothly but then a noticed a problem and hopefully you guys can help me.
There are updates for various Google Apps (Gapps) that i installed when flashing over the ROM. If I look at my apps within the Google Market as a whole, under the Installed tab, nothing needs updating. But for instance, if i click on Gmail, theres a update for it.
So first i was like cool, Ill try to download it. Downloads fine when it tries to Update, it says " Error - Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again" I understand what the error code means so I think to myself, "ok ill just delete the app and download using the Market."
Go to Manage Apps, and all i can do is Disable the so-called app but i cant uninstall it. So i thought, "ok ill try to uninstall it through the Google Market. Nope, the only two options are UPDATE and OPEN.
So i need you help. Should i download a newer version of GAPPS or is there a easier way to uninstall so i can just re-download it again.
Thanks EHB
Use a root browser (like es file explorer) make sure the /system is accessible and root enabled.
Go to /system/apps and delete the .apk for it
Same thing happened to me with the Arctic rom, maps wouldn't update, so i just got maps from the market after deleting it

Use Root Explorer as then 2 apps above is not powerful enough to delete the system file. Be sure you are on R/W mode, you can check on the upper right part of Root Explorer. That should do the trick.
You said you flashed a new Rom, which means you know how to use recovery. From the text it shows when you install a GApps package, it deletes the old files before adding the new ones. Now, I haven't actually looked at the install code but I wouldn't imagine Cyanogen or whomever the builder of that package is, would lie about something that thousands of people use?
Anyways, just try flashing a new GApps package. A few of the ones I have flashed have had Gmail included while others have not.

[Q] How to install system apps using root explorer?

Hello there people!
I've installed a custom rom and would like to add some apps as system apps.
I thought I'd use Root Explorer to do this.
I copied my apps to SD-card, and from there to /system/app/ and changed permissions.
Still, my apps does not come up in my launcher.
Have I done anything wrong?
Thanks for the help!

If the apps you install are not compatible with the android version you're using they won't show up. The quickest way to check this is to doubleclick the .apk on the sd-card and see if it will install.. They will be in your user/app if they do, but you can move them from there to /system/app if you want. If they give an error when installing they're not compatible.

They are compatible with the Androidversion, that much I know.
But they will not install if I doubleclick on them. That didn't work with another rom either, but it worked installing them using Root Explorer.

If it worked they would show up in your launcher.. If they won't install using the 'normal' method, they are not compatible with your phone.

Is it really a difference between MiniCM7 and a ROM based on MiniCM7?
Those apps works on MiniCM7 then, but not on another ROM based on it.
