I am in the market for a new TV. I have a Galaxy S3 so I was wondering if there is much benefit from buying a Samsung TV. In particular are there any features or facilities that a Samsung TV + SGS3 would give over and above buying say an LG or other brand TV?
Cheers,
Ashley

Get a Samsung smart tv with Wi-Fi and then in theory you don't need the dongle to stream from your phone to tv

I read somewhere it's possible and I'm getting a new tv.
Can someone tell me what I need to get this to work besides a tv with wifi
Thanks
DLNA enabled tv. Check out the media share app that's pre installed.

Ahh another helpful xda troll member. Thanks for your post, now stfu if you can't be helpful

Its the connected media app. It should say in the TV specs if it has dlna. If it does then whenever your phone and TV are on the same wifi network you can stream photos and videos to the tv! Its quite nice haha

Thanks guys

But your TV must be able to decode or playback the file type you are streaming via DLNA. This is not like HDMI mirroring. Not sure if you can do that via WiFi on EVO 3D.
Get one of the Samsung Smart TV's. What size and price are you looking at getting?

So far best I've seen are the Samsung smart tvs as far as picture and amount of well rounded techy features. They also have been updating the firmware very regularly in that line lately bringing new features and such.

if you happen to have a PlayStation 3 you can stream dlna to it from your phone or computer and hook to any TV.
I just got a 55inch Samsung super slim smart TV on Amazon for 1700! It's amazing
Swyped from mah 3vo!
Just get the free iMediashare app

Hdmi mirroring over wifi isn't here yet. Samsung is working on it and standards are not final yet. But hdmi over wifi would be like a laptop's clone display or the evo 3d's mhl adapter to connect to hdmi. It won't be limited to just specific files but full screen sharing - as in whatever you see on the phone will show on the tv. Hopefully we'll see this later this year.

Coming from my Photon I really like having the mini hdmi port to hook up to my TV to stream movies at friends houses and what not.
Does anybody know if the note has an adapter and the capability to do this?

If you have an hml adapter like the one that comes with the infuse then Yes!

If you can stream media to your TV, the included Allshare app works really well for this. (I was really surprised, I thought it was just more useless bloatware)
If you have a Samsung TV this phone pairs up really nicely. Allshare works great, and there is another program called SwipeIt that pushes photos and videos to your tv.
Skifta (which I currently have on my Nook Color, haven't tested it on the Note since it already has Allshare) not only lets you share content with DLNA devices, but can actually act as an intermediary/remote control as well. For example, using Skifta I can tell my PS3 Media Server to push a movie to my Samsung TV. Now if only the TV didn't ask for permission before displaying it...that could be a lot of fun screwing with friends while they're watching something else. :3
yea my TV is a 4 year old Panasonic plasma so the only way to get anything on it is through hdmi.

Yeah ive used the hdmi out from my infuse with my note, a/v both work great even on my 51 inch screen. The samsung allshare app actually works really well if you have any newer samsung components.
Does anybody use their slingplayer with the note? Does it work well? How about using with directv ? Also what app works better with the note? The phone or tablet slingplayer androod app?
Thank you

and yes...use with directv

Works great. I also have the tablet version on here as well. Quality is way better but it won't open the remote interface, only allows you to manually enter the channels.

Are threre any video quality diffrence between the two apps phone/tablet versions?
I mostly want to use this for the dvr shows not so much live tv. I want the tablet app if it has better video quality but not controls for dvr seems like a deal breaker. Is the phone app video quality just as good? I want to make sure before I put down $300+ and $30 for the app.
Thank you guys for your responses

I have been using slingplayer for a long time. Obviously there have been upgrades over the years but I get the best quality video on my Note. I have the Slingbox Solo.
I am using slingplayer with my solo as well. Works like a charm.

Is it possible to put the tablet version of Slingplayer on the Note? The tablet version doesn't even show up on market for me.

I just got the slingbox pro hd and its okay! All the features and function is there but the video quality is okay. I get the same choppy quality in sd and hd. I have it hooked thru component with digital audio and optimum online boost 30 down 8 up in nyc. I'm happy with the box and hope maybe ICS will make the video quality better along with netflix.

I'm using Slingbox-Pro for 7 years and never had any problem with the Tilt II and now I'm using it on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy " Tablet using Android and don't have any problem either.
When I try to use it on the new samsung focus S, The windows phone reqired that you must change the slingbox pro to slingbox pro-HD. I did that, spent $250 for the slingbox pro-hd, it works for 3 months then the power supply input on the pro-hd burned up. Now I switched back to the Slingbox pro and still working good with my android tablet but will not work on the windows phone. I think the windows phone SUCK !!!.I'll switch to the Samsung Galaxy Note as soon it come out. Stay away from windows phones. Regars,
Just got my mhl adapter and plugged into the tv. It works but the framerate is terrible. My phone gets a really good pic and the tv one is poor.
Is this normal or have I missed some thing?

You sure it's even S3 compatible? Because I think only the genuine Samsung ones have the 11 pins.
Mines the genuine one. It works but disappointing on video.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
itsa samsung adaptor, just from the infuse.
it worked on my skyrocket and Galaxy Note. i figured it would work on the S3
I have same issue, videos that I recorded using S3 cam plays really bad on tv with the genuine Samsung 11pin adapter. Its very choppy/stutters but YouTube or any other videos that I downloaded plays fine though... only the videos I recorded have issues. All the videos are recorded in 1080p. Any ideas what could be causing this?

If it works on any other phone then it's not S3 compatible because the new S3 cables have an 11 pin layout so works on S3 and nothing else.
Have you tried different televisions? . I'm gonna try another tv and then log with Samsung. It's not really watchable. Regretting not buying a dlna adapter instead at the minute

Will a DNLA adapter work with the S3 and any TV?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
My understanding is the dlna adapter just plugs into a tv's hdmi port.

If you open WMPlayer and under streaming enable. Allow devices to remote.
Then launch video on s3 and you should get icon in top left. Press and watch dlna . Only vids I have trouble with is mkv. I believe that is dlna adapter dependent and my media player doesn't have codecs.
Not managed to try another television yet though.

How to use MHL
Buy the OFFICIAL cable, power it with your Samsung adapter, pop it into a working TV. Turn the TV to that channel on HD. Plug in your phone.
I experience a slight latency slowdown, but nothing that would make it unsusable.
I'm probably being just picky, put it this way I've completed mariokart 64 on 150 on it.

I have no problem but you have me confused with your instructions.....
You say "pop it into a working TV" ~ Pop what into a working TV?
You say "Turn the TV to that channel on HD" ~ You are going to have to run that one by me again?
You say "Plug in your phone" ~ Surely in order for the TV to pick up the S3, the phone needs to be connected and powered BEFORE you connect it and the HDMI cable to the TV, not after?
I Have official adapter.
I use the charger that came with phone.
Plugged into telly the framerate is poor.
The quality isn't great either.
Not sure what's going on but it's pants !!!

Hi guys,
I have an OTG cable which is great as I'm using it with my External HDD but I want to use it to print photos off of my phone. I have seen the PrinterShare app, however the app costs too much at nearly £8!
So, can anyone recommend an app or way of doing this for free please? (My printer isn't a Samsung)
Also, is there anywhere I can go to read about what the OTG can actually be used for? (I know there are YouTube video, however I want to read at my leasure)
Any help is greatly appreciated
