[Q] i9220 MKT6575 Android 4.0.6 TPSparkyRoot "Permission denied" ?? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody, I am trying to root my i9220 MKT6575 Android 4.0.6 with TPSparkyRoot, but no luck so far, always get stuck in messages like:
"Permission denied"
"cannot create ........."
"Operation not permitted"
"Failed to copy"
looks like it's missing some privileges, what am i doing wrong?
Example image from cmd is attached.
Also tried with SuperOneClickv2.3.3, but as most of people get stuck on step #7
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Try looking at the root procedure they are working on for the LG optimus p700, the issue you are getting looks similar to that,a chap has developed a exploit which works using a timing issue, it may well work for this phone !

Already posted about this in another thread a minute ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32383822&postcount=14
As it says on the first post of that thread the method for placing the local.prop file has been identified and patched so from Android 4.0.4 it should no longer be present. I came across Engineer Mode and found there is a way to run shell commands from there so used that to place the file.

Permission denied TSparkyRoot
Hi,
I've got the same phone :
Got this informations with mobikeuncle :
MTK6575
Manufacturer : alps

Kernel: Linux 3.0.13 gcc 4.4.3 ... CST 2012
OS : ICS 4.0.6

CompileTime:Wed Jul 11 16:23:30 CST 2012
Baseband:MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP.V17,2012/05/05 15:38
* rootfs mount seems to be on 'ro' when displaying with
* Try all root utility like TSpartkyRoot with no success.
Try superoneclick
Same problem :
Blocked at first step : mv /data/local/tmp ...
Permission denied
* I have not found shell access via mobileuncle (can't investigate since not chineese).
Do you have some idea to solve the problem ?
Is it normal that I can't use OTG with this version ?
Thanks for reading

Okay from what i gather and i might be wrong since im no android expert that your unable to push any files to the phone because of permission denied. In this case you can try this method here which works for most android 4.0.4 devices and may also work for you since you manually place the files on your phone first then root the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978963
Something else i couldnt help but notice is that your phone was made in july and has android 4.0.9 version while my phone was made august 29th and has android version 4.0.4 LOL Screwy Android!
Good Luck!

Thanks for answer.
I've tried this solution ... it's not working, the problem is the same than with other tries : it isn't possible to access to the device in a shell with RW right. So every operations over filesystem (pull, push, mkdir, rm, mv, even ls) cannot be done and abort with "Permission denied" error.
I read some documentation about ADB but don't understand how I can access with "write" right on my phone.
Does someone have a suggestion ?

My problem is still not solved. Does somebody else have a solution ?

[Q] Theme Installation Problem: "mount: Operation not permitted" (Fixed)

I apologise is a similiar issue has been posted on several occasions. I did try the search and couldn't get a solution for my trouble.
As the title saids I am trying to install the Dark10 Series theme but in the CMD box on my laptop I get the error
"mount: Operation not permitted"
Also:
"cannot open for write: Read-only file system"
I am guessing the above error has somthing to do with root. Although I am clueless to be brutally honest.
If someone can give me a simple helping hand I would appreciate it.
Not very knowledgable on the whole adb thing and commands etc.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Edit:
Model number: X10i
Firmware version: 1.6 (Duh! )
Baseband version: 1.1.31
Kernal Version: 2.6.29-rel
[email protected] #2
Build number: R2BA026
Fixed the problem, was somthing to do with the shell being locked or somthing. Got it working though!
Steps I took:
1. Add the java thing to Enviroment Variables (Computer>System properties>advanced settings>enviroment variables)
Path: )\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\android\tools\;
Then got a file that unlocks adb script (search forum)
And that was it sorry cant be of more help I zone out when i have a problem and concentrate on fixing it without really knowing what i am doing
U should post the solution and put fixed in the title to help others.

i always face the same problem
thx in advance
I had the same problem. What you need to do is open darker 10 launcher and go to option 7 from the list. Read the instructions carefully and at the prompts on the screen type in the code supplied.
From what I understand it adds Additional script to your phone that allows you to mount the image.
Make sure phone is in developer mode.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
thx a lot it workd
Thanks for posting this topic,
I would've spent the whole night on this and probably still wouldn't be able to figure out anything!
I have similar problem with one of the themes.
UNSECURING THE SHELL
Type each of these at the given prompt and press enter after each line.
Dont type the prompt <$ or #> itself!
$ su <NOW CHECK HANDSET FOR A SU REQUEST>
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
# chmod 4755 /system/bin/sh
# exit
$ exit
What should i type in $ su ? also if smb can, type all the lines correct,im not a programmer :/

There is a Tool, which can root most Android 4.x devices:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
To use this tool, you need ADB drivers for your device. If you dont have them, here is a tutorial, how to get ADB drivers for your device:

I am sorry, this method can only work on Android 4.x devices, because it uses a small security gap only available at 4.x android devices...
I was my fault, not to have read that you have 2.3.6
In this case, I will look, if I find something different for you

I used gingerbreak for my android 2.3 phone. But it wasn't a mtk6575 phone.
Thanks mate
Yes they are bit different stupid phones
none of the method specified could work i thought to do Manual rooting but that requires the TWRP to be ported .that is also failing .
I am keen to know how to root all Android Chinese phones too... I have a Hero H4300 MTK6573 device which I use for learning purposes.

I don't own that phone. And so I cannot say much about it.
But my personal advice is to take backup of everything before you proceed with any changes to your phone.
I found the following links give you an idea:

remove Superuser
Hello,
a few months ago I rooted my A1-810 (Acer_AV052_A1-810_RV27RC03_WW_GEN1) by the Toolkit version 0.8.3 (Android 4.2.2, method: from scratch).
Rooting was successful. Superuser app was automatically installed by the toolkit.
Later, before KitKat update, I have unrooted my tablet using the Toolkit, because I have heard, that an upgrading a rooted device could lead to a problems.
Update (OTA) to KitKat version was successful, but since then, I often see a message in the notification bar that the superuser app requests for su binary update.
Seems, the Superuser app remained in the system after unrooting and survived the KitKat update also.
I am on unrooted device now, so I don't need Superuser app anymore, but I can't uninstall it ordinarily from OS menu.
Is there a way to remove relics of the Superuser app?
Do I have to root the tablet again to be able to do remove the Superuser app?
Thank you in advance for help!
Help unrooting with [ToolKit] Acer Iconia v0.8.5
Hi I have an Acer Iconia B1-710 I rooted it a few months ago and need to unroot it as an app I am trying to use will not work with a rooted device, I followed the instructions for unroofing within the Tool kit listed above in the title, but for some reason even though Toolkit reports that an unroot has been successful when Irun a check it sshows as still rooted and the app will not run still.
Does anyone have this problem and or some advice for me on this problem? Thank you
Brian

Hello. Can you please add Rooting instructions and [ToolKit] Acer Iconia v0.8.5 *** for Acer Iconia B1-730HD?
I see request of /proc/dumchar_info AND /system/build.prop to do so, but there isn't any dumchar_info file anywhere on the phone.

Sorry, but Intel-based Iconias are still not (and never will be) supported (see post 1 of this thread)
Root for Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A20 FHD possible?
Not wanting to hijack this thread but hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on my issue, and some of you out there might be able to point me in the right direction.
I recently updated my A1-810 (PA_CA Model) to KitKat using the recovery bootloader and the image obtained from the Acer support site; Now my unit is stuck in a reboot loop where it doesn't get past the loading 'Acer' logo and just keeps rebooting.
I updated to RV0BRC05 for the PA_CA (canadian) model, and have tried everything to get it past this reboot loop without any success (such as a system/cache wipe, reinstalling the OS, etc). The KitKat update never fails when reinstalling it, but the boot loop will NOT go away, and unfortunatly I am now getting a assert failed: getprop("ro.product.name") == "a1-810_pa_ca" error when trying to downgrade to any previous version than the KitKat release.
Really really REALLY disappointed and frustrated with Acer and their feeble attempt at getting KitKat running on this unit, and am hoping that someone out there might be able to help me get this sucker up and running again.
Any suggestions?
Update: Fixed it!!
I basically followed the guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55501253&postcount=53
and downloaded the A1-810 files and Drivers package from there as well.
Then my unit managed to get past the reboot loop and boot into KK successfully!
CWM didn`t actually install, but there is a note at the bottom of the link regarding that, but I`m not going to bother for now as I am more than happy to have a working tablet again!
Hope this helps anyone else!
Problem with Toolkit B1-A71
I also got the "script-problem" as you can see below. Like nikagl posted in the main Thread, i came across those lines in the Python-Script and tried some fixes, but it seems, the .exe doesn't apply them. Does it need an update from you or can we do this ourselves?
================== Root =================
Before we can start, please do following:
1. Make sure drivers for your Acer Iconia B1-A71 are installed, you can find the

3. Enable USB Debugging Mode by going into Settings -> Developer Tools.

Problem upgrading my Acer Iconia tablet to Android 4.4 KitKat A1-810. Help!!
My tablet has installed Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. My version of the image is Acer_AV052_A1-810_RV26RC06_PA_CUS1.
I went to the official website of Acer and locate the OS 4.4 KitKat for my tablet which is:
Acer.AV0K0.A1-810.RV0BRC02.PA.CUS1
I've tried updating several times and I've even searched the forum to see if it says anything about this but I find nothing.
Each you see I'm trying to upgrade starts and then I get the error:
- Install / sdcard ...
Installing update ...
Warning: No file_contextRemove last update te_finish_update.txt ...
set_metadata_recursive: some failed Changes
check.partition.size + [__ PROP_UNDEFINED__]
instalation aborted
Can anyone tell me how to fix this.
Thank you.

Battery drain on rooted HDX 7" (3rd gen)

Hi,
so I rooted my new HDX and Safestrapped it. But the tablet drains more than it should, even if I don't use it at all...
I'm not really ablet to detect the cause of the drain, so I thought you guys might help me to find the problem.
It's very odd, that humblebundle seems to cause wakelocks, but I already stopped the app and greenified it... but still it causes wakelocks dafuq?
Here are some screenshots:
Mine rooted kindle with nexus rom wasnt able to deep sleep.
Battery was draining like hell, also after removing all 3rd party apps.
The only working solution was a clean rom installation.
Yeah but I am using the stock ROM... Since the Nexus ROM doesn't support LTE.

Getting insane.
Ty in adv for your possible help. Also, I do apologize if I am posting in the wrong thread, also, English is not my first language, I am from South America.
I am getting crazy trying to root my Kindle device (Amazon KFAPWI (Kindle Fire HDX 8.9) 3rd Gen. I tried kinda all... also, I am some familiar with flashing and rooting, but this is highly advanced, also, I am more or less familiar with ADB and SU stuff, but I do prefeer the scripts (thanks to the developers).
I saw several threads in XDA Developers, I did a lot of stuff but no luck.
This is the result of the rooting process with KFHDX TOOLKIT v0.95:

Ty. I do not know how to identify the firmware version, the only that I know is that is running Fire OS 4.5.1.

If that's the case, then it's impossible.
At this time, you can only root on 14/13.3.2.6 or below.
