Question on Verizon Razr maxx with prepaid sim card in Turkey - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi all,
I'm going to travel to Turkey and would like to know what I have to do with my verizon razr maxx so that I can use a prepaid sim card in Turkey?
Thanks in advance.

From what I've read on here the RAZR maxx will work with worldwide microsim if ur on ICS... so if u are all you'd need is a microsim from turkey or a regular sum that you would manually cut down to microsim size

need help for micro simcard

Hi all,
Could you tell me how to remove micro simcard from Razr?
And also how to activate micro simcard on Razr. I used normal (large) simcard for my Milestone.
In the lower left side of the phone, there is an opening where the sim card and micro sd are.

Dont worry, your English is better than a lot of people who actually live here! Ive heard rumors that yes both radio's are present, but no one has been able to activate the GSM radio in a Verizon RAZR.
Thanks for answer .. on eBay i see that, there sells unlock for GSM for Roger's droid Razr. But i don't see Verizon unlock))

Don't live in US so not shure but aren't Roger's using GSM?
I thought it were just Verizon who used CDMA.
Just got the XT912 a few days ago, from the packaging somehow it seems they use the SIM card for the 4G data package, and that sim can swapped between 4G devices, but the main part of the vzw service is still cdma.
I found an answer...Verizon droid razr has a GSM compability but locked by firmware

And with the ics update that locked part will go away, or at least the locked bootloader will, and that may lead to being able to unlock the Sim

[Q] Does razr xt910 on work on at&t?

I started with a working iphone 4 on AT&T. Two weeks ago I went crazy and bought an AT&T Galaxy S II off of ebay. I popped in my micro sim (using adapter) and it works great! I have constant hsdpa+ service even in some pretty rural areas!
In any case, I was having so much android fun that I decided to buy an unlocked Motorola XT910 to try it out. So far, not so good. Using the same sim that works in both my iphone and gs2 will not connect to AT&T's data network. I have 4-5 bars of signal, but I seen no letter network indicator (may be normal, I don't know) and network apps report 'no data connection found'.
So, is there some secret or trick I need to do to this XT910 to make it work with AT&T? I'm new to this forum and android in general, so please forgive me if I'm doing something totally stupid. Thanks!
The RAZR XT910 supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and W-CDMA 850/900/1900/2100 so it should work with AT&T...
Did you set the APN up correctly?
Razr XT910
You need to manually add the AT&T APN under network settings. Google APN settings for AT&T and it should work.
Make sure your APN settings is correct.

I will try that tonight when I get home and let you know how it works. Thanks!
You guys are great! I setup everything based on what I found on a google search and now everything is working great. The Razr is actually a little faster on HSPA+ than the Galaxy S2. The max speeds I got on speedtest.net are:
Galaxy S2: 3487 D/L 1129 U/L
Razr: 3909 D/L 1101 U/L
Thanks again!
Hey guys,
New member here looking to do the same as resotek and try to set up a droid razr for at&t.
Resotek, or anyone if you could help me out...after adding the APN settings for at&t does everything work meaning internet, pic messages, wifi, etc
Thanks in advance
I've never seen HSPA+ on my xt910, only HSPA with ATT. I have the standard wap.cingular apn. Is there something special you have to do with apn settings to get HSPA+?

Yes, the phone works like a champ and I have no known issues. Check your PM.
Cheers,
resotek
I'm also getting an xt-910 and I just want to make sure I use the right apn settings. Will I use the ATT ptt settings, like for a Samsung Infuse or can I use the apn settings for a Samsung Skyrocket?? Looking at the bands the phone supports I think I need to use the same settings as the Infuse but I just want to check.

Bumpskies.
Just looking for some confirmation of the correct apn.
Also, can I just cut my Skyrocket sim and use that or do I need to get a micro sim from att?
Thank You

u can cut it, but i bought a SIM card puncher From Amazon that did a perfect job. i kept the punched off piece to place around the new micro sim to use in my other phones.

Thanks for the response about the sim card. I figured as much about a cutter, I just didn't want to buy a cutter for one sim. But it's not expensive so I may just spring for it haha
sigh ;(
bought the xt912 without realizing and now im searching and searching with no luck to unlock it...any one figure out if theres a way?
thanks
So a Verizon Razr won't work like this or what would have to be done if anything? Looking to buy one to use on AT&T

i dont think the verizon razr (xt912) will work but the global one (xt910) should be good to go.
For the xt910 you just put in the ATT APN settings and your good
I'm on the Att network and mine (xt910) is working fine, works much better after I called Att and gave them the imei number?
Since I came from using a SGS2...but yes it works!

Don't usually post since I am Moto employee, but you guys should know - there is no difference between 910 and 912 aside from SW. I can take a VZ retail device out of box, flash with a GSM AP and pop in an AT&T SIM (using now)

How to use moto razr maxx(verzion) in Singapore?

Hi,
I have bought a new moto droid razr maxx(verzion) from ebay usa, then shipping it to Singapore.
I try to start it with Singtel SIM card, but always stopping at registering network screen which is after I touch the Android logo in welcome screen.
Shows"This SIM card is from an unknown source."
As I know,verzion support CDMA.
I am in Singapore,Singtel StarHub M1 all support GSM,WCDMA.
And droid razr maxx support GSM,WCDMA,CDMA.
So I think GSM and WCDMA model maybe locked by verzion. But I can't get CDMA network in my area.
Is there any solution for me to use it with WCDMA SIM card?
Thanks.
The Verizon Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX do not support GSM or WCDMA. The hardware may be there, but it is likely disabled. No-one has had any success trying to change that, I'm afraid you've bought yourself an expensive paperweight.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
not exactly paperweight. u can buy a razr locally & swap the battery with Maxx. just that u end up buying a razr maxx with double the price.

That is definitely the best solution. Transplanting the regular flavour RAZR battery to the MAXX and selling it off would at lest recoup some of the lost funds.

One more solution.
Try to find a Verzion user in US.
Then send it back..

[Q] Droid razr maxx lte 912

I am hoping someone could help me please, I am trying my best and I have spent about 5 hours searching online for the answer, to have different conclusions.
I was living in USA, purchased a Verizon droid razr maxx lte 912 from a friend. I did not use this in the USA, I left in the hope to use this phone in the UK.
Is this possible ?
Many thanks
No the xt912 is specifically for verizon and cdma which is in the united states. If you wanted to use it in another country or internationally, you would have to get the xt910. Hope this helped

If you have the xt910 razr you can use different sim cards with it. The xt912 razr is strictly cdma which is verizon

The phone will work with any GSM sim if used "outside of the US". It will NOT work on GSM in the US.
So yes, you can use it in the UK without any issues.
if your phone has been updated to ICs then its fully capable of being used all over the world for gsm usage ( but not in the US )
just insert any gsm sim
go to network and select gsm/umts option and thats it.
the XT912 razr and razr maxx both have unlocked gsm radios for all gsm operators outside US.
