Hi all
I have a problem with the sound on my phone...
It happens randomly where i'll try to view a youtube vid and there will be no sound.
I will restart the phone and try to view the same video on youtube and it will work. Same thing happens with the game "Scramble" and even when playing music in Winamp.
Everytime i reboot the phone, the problem will go away until the next time it does it.
It gets very frustrating have to restart my phone as you can imagine.
Can somebody please help???
Thanks in advance

Yeah, the problem has only started after updating to ICS. I haven't used Bluetooth since the update though.
Really bugging me having to restart the phone all the time

Also for me is the same, randomly.. also with the navigation app. Solved for me: hold the power button, then active no sound, then sound again. Check with the volume buttons if works!

I actually tried that and it didn't work for me. I'm hoping it may be something that is fixed in the next update... If we get one that is
I get that issue sometimes too when i turn off the sound then turn it back on.

This happens on mine too this is the 3rd maxx same issue. Very annoying
672.180.41.XT910.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU its the update we took in Greece. I wiped before and after the update, both cache and data.
Many users and me today , experienced the "no sound" bug. Going to settings and using the same or other ringtone brought the sound back. Is this a common bug in ics or it is just our version? I can't pinpoint the trigger of the bug yet.
I'm hoping more for an update for bugs on ics than jb(NOT jailbreak :laugh.

hi,
i got my titan recently and i experienced this strange bug when listening to music on my titan .
if i were to listen to music via zune and head back to the home screen and tap on the search button, it will bring me to the bing search page but the music will suddenly become muffled ! . a very big change in audio quality ! . but when i tap on back and go back to the home screen then the audio quality is back to normal again .
asked around and heard that this might be a common issue even on the hd7 but i cant seem to find anyone with similar problems on this part of the forum . (or maybe i did not search well enough)
anyone else facing the same problem ?
btw i'm using my own earphone without volume control .
I experienced this from the speaker yesterday. Wasn't sure what triggered it... I had good sound quality and then I did something (not sure what) and suddenly the sound was muffled and poor.

okay . i just tried with my speakers, i was also able to trigger the same issue ! .
it occurs everything i do that .
playing music via zune and then pressing search button at the home screen .
any idea whats wrong ?
It's a mango related bug. Over in wpcentral forums, we've narrowed it down to mango causing it.
I just noticed this yesterday. I was using slacker radio then suddenly the sound was muffled when the screen was on. Screen off it was great. Unlocked and noticed the search page open. Hit home and the music cleared up.

Actually I think you'll find it's a HTC issue the HD7 does this as well, and I'd it from launch.
Still not fixed in Tango
Hello,
This bug is still not fixed in Tango update. I found out, that if you wait and do nothing for about one minute in Search, the audio qaulity fixes.

OK, this is what happens. On my Atrix 4G, I open the Google+ app and start a hangout. Whether I get an answer or not, I close the app and then, if I try to play any music which should come out of the loud speaker, the sound just comes out of the little ear speaker. I don't have a jack plugged in. The only way I can fix this is to re-boot the phone.
I can replicate this every time.
Is this a Google + bug or an Atrix bug?
Can't wait for the self proclaimed mods to complain about this not being in Q&A section.
What rom you using? Always good to post that info.

i have the same problem,i have tried with rom stock and cm7.2. The problem should be of google+. With my Motorola xoom and Galaxy nexus work very good. But with atrix the same problem of you.
I got one of those fancy vibration-technology speakers (trupulse.net) for Christmas, but regardless of the ROM I've tried (Super Jelly, JellyBam, & others) I get a noticeable crackle when playing music through bluetooth on it. Seems to be connected some to what I do on my phone while music's playing (opening apps, rotating the screen, etc), but it also happens randomly too. I had my wife try it on her stock LTE with Jellybean and it works correctly. I'm also confident it's bit the speaker itself because my TouchPad and my bro-in-law's iPhone worked fine too.
Anybody got any ideas what the issue might be?
P.S. I noticed I have 2 bluetooth share apps, so I froze them individually in TiBu but do still had the issue.
I notice crackle when multitasking or when i press power button on my phone. It only lasts a second though. Running pacman rom.
Is it a constant crackle? Also, have you tried turning volume down on your phone and up on the speaker?

Thanks for your reply. The speaker I'm using doesn't have its own dedicated volume, only adjusted using whatever's connected to it. It's not consistent in that it's every 5 seconds or anything, but like you said when multitasking (and almost EVERY time the screen rotates) it happens. And sometimes it'll last several seconds at a time.
This has been an issue since launch with the phone. The only thing that I found to work was increasing voltages with a kernel app but I don't believe this to be possible yet. HTC majorly screwed up with BT Audio on this thing.
Is there a way to disable the auto start feature on the music player when it connects to Bluetooth in my car. It connects and starts playing in the background even when I am not using it.

Yes, go to settings->Bluetooth-> press on settings for paired device you don't want to auto start -> remove check mark from media.

i don't think what you are saying is quite the answer OP was looking for, but I'm not sure. i think the answer is this:
download "Media Button Router" from Google Play, it has options to ignore Bluetooth button presses. please hit thanks button

The auto start isn't coming from Android. It's a " feature not a bug" annoying as hell behavior coming from a lot of head units in new cars. Toyota head units are notorious for this. The app I mentioned turns a lot of that behavior off but it's not perfect. Hopefully the app author updates the software someday to just ignore the first button press signal on reconnect, or someone else writes an app to do just that, but it works well enough now.

I had the same exact problem when i would get in my Ford Escape with Sync! It would start by itself! Then directions I listed will allow you to still to connect and use your phone for ALL functions, Including playing music when YOU want too! Music play just will not start by itself!
Settings--->bluetooth--->press gear (settings) for paired device you want to stop media auto play for--->remove check mark from Media audio. Make sure you still have a check mark in Phone audio!
Your phone will now connect to car but not start media player!
same problem

Problem: I cant uncheck the profile Media Audio:
I am trying in Bluetooth settings in Car Multi-media device to uncheck Media audio, when I press it says connecting, does that mean I have to to this step while in the car?
then again as per your answer just checking, if i open an email with an attachment or open a file Music Play, will it automatically connect to the BT?
thanks for your help

I am the developer of Bluetooth Connect & Play (this forum won't allow me to post a link, search for me in the store) . I may have a way to help you. Email me (my email is on the linked App's store listing) if you'd like to beta test this. I don't know if it fully works, but looking for people to test.

Hello,
I have a weird problem, I put CM 10.1.0 RC5 on my Motorola Razr xt910 and the mic stopped working when in calls.
This is most probably not a hardware issue since it works fine during video recording and I am able to hear the sounds just fine then.
But the person on the other end cannot hear me when I make/receive a call.
Also, whenever I try to open voice search or google search mic icon then I get an error "Unfortunately google search has stopped working" and the application does not open up.
I updated the RC5 to 10.1.0 stable and then also put on yesterdays nightly, no luck, everything else works except the mic during calls.
Any pointers to what I should do to get this resolved?
Thanks,
Saket

The mic randomly muting is a known issue in kexec kernel/ROMs.
However generally it works after a reboot.
Check your stock ROM if mic is working there or not.?

It was working for a few days but with reduced volumes.
I also did check by going into Stock and it does not work there too. The error that I get there is also same, the search crashes.
Reboot wont help because I did it many times after reading a couple of forum responses.
Thanks,
Saket.

Then its a hardware fault. As you said it worked with reduced volume, also suggests the same.
Get to the customer support and get it replaced.

Yes, but it works during video/sound recording.
Is the mic used different at these times or is it the same?

Secondary/Camcorder mic
The primary mic on this machine is soldered on the PCB!!!
Is it possible to use an app or a system tweak/mod to force the use of the secondary/camcorder mic? Have not found anything yet.

I've been changing the order in audio_policy.conf but no success... Does anybody know how we can force the phone to avoid using front mic?
