Greetings,
I am facing an intermittent problem with my i9100 phone
The microphone sound is very weak
When I call someone he cant hear my voice
But if I switch to spraker mode he can hear me clearly
Moreover,
When I use the sound recorder app it shows that the volume is very weak
I replaced the microphone but the issue was not resolved
Have someone faced the same issue?

Have u tried while in a call to tap menu ( not in speaker phone mode , just normal mode ) and turned off noise reduction

I read the SGS2 has noise cancellation?
Can anybody confirm if this uses the dual microphone approach as used in the Nexus and
some noise cancelling headsets?
If it does, I'm guessing there should be an additional microphone located away from the 'proper' microphone.
Thanks
D
Yes it does have noise cancellation. The second mic looks like it's at the top next to the headphone socket.
can anyone comment on the in-call quality with the noise canellation? the nexus s has very bad call audio in noisy environments. my nexus one call quality is superb with the second mic.
is the SGS2 very good in this regard?
He talks about call quality and it sounds very good.
youtube.com/watch?v=9UhSL7yaSCI
Does it also reduce non-stationary background noise ?
Is this noise cancelling mic used as one of the stereo mic's when recording video do you know?
Does anyone else's noise cancelling mic seem to turn itself off? Every time i make a call, the screen shows noise reduction off even though its enabled,i switch it back on but when i make a call again its off.
Can anyone see if this is the case on there S2 to see if its a fault or a bug. Thanks.

When do you see that message? Is it when the other end answers?
Cant say I have noticed it.
Does it only happen on speaker phone or BT headset?
It happens when the other person answers,a squiggly icon appears on the left. If u press the menu button you can select to turn it off or on.

As I previously said, are you using speaker or a headset?
Or is this just a regular call, ie you hold the phone to the side of your head?
Oh, and where are the settings for noise cancellation?
thanks
its just a regular call mate.

When your on a call press the menu button and the option to turn noise cancellation on/off is there.
I can confirm I get the same
If you've turned it on while on a call then disconnected that call and make another call is it still on or has it turned off again? Mine always switches off..
Yep thats what I get
Do you think thats a fault, its a bit annoying that you have to turn it on every time you make a call..
Unless the icon with the line through the sound wave actually means that its cancelling noise?
Morning all,
Love this phone, love love love. What I'm worried about though is the in call volume on headphones. Doesn't matter whether I'm using the supplied Samsung ones or a set of Sony ones the volume is so low that the person at the other end is in audible.
I have no problems with volume on anything else (as in music player on in call volume using the actual phone)
Anyone else experiencing this or am I just very unlucky.
I've noticed this too. When having earphones plugged in the call volume is just too low. Last night I had to plug mine out and xall again because I couldn't hear her properly. Good point

this is absolutely the worst news possible, because i make 99% of all my calls with my headset. you guys are saying it is not usable? most of my calls are on the freeway with loud raod noise.
Post on here somewhere secret codes for volume ++

Not sure about volume with the earpieces with mic that came with the sgs2 but my sony earphones volume was quite low during call. I get calls when I'm listening to music a lot.

this app seems to have fixed it for me give it a try it ups the headset volume over default levels.. works fine for my sgs ii
i think you may need to be rooted to use it but not sure
Does it have HAC mode? Setings > Call settings > HAC mode. I set that on my SGS to increase call volume.
+1 on the issue, will try the apk tmo

Same issue and trying the apk now

I wonder if this is connectd to another very frustrating problem I've just discovered. When I go out running, I normally have Spotify playing in the background and CardioTrainer occasionally prompting me with updates on how badly I'm doing. Worked fine on my old Galaxy S, now I can't hear the updates over the music because they are so quiet. I've tried fiddling with all the settings, and have also tried Endomondo and SportsTracker and they all seem to have the same problem. Anyone else tried this?
Fixed in latest update

Hey champ, you said this was fixed in the latest update but I just got my galaxy last week from Vodafone Australia and mine has this issue. What update fixed yours and does anyone else know about any fixes?
Fixed? In which update?
Hey,
I have this problem on my (sim-less) SGS2, and no update is available.
Any version number?
i'm having the same problem too. i currently use the stock headset, and am thinking of getting a BT headset as i get calls while driving. tried the app, did not help.
can someone one please help? it will be even better if voodoo sound is developed for i9100. *fingers crossed*
yep. same problem here!
Noticed it as well - on headphones Senn PX 100 II - very annoying (have to plug out the phones each time)
Also noticed the volume problem. The overall voice call quality is not great either. Can someone confirm if the apk. fix helped and if it needs the root access?
Hey all,
Need some help with this, getting quite frustrated:
I have an international S III (i9300) and whatever rom I use I have the exact same problem that seems to be related to bluetooth.
- First use it connects to my caraudio (pioneer deh-4400bt) and it works great, good sound etc.
- Than I start Sygic (navigation) on the Phone, which I set in the "Always use internal speaker mode", so it doesnt use BT
Now two things happen:
- In sygic the sound through the internal speaker is very soft
- When I try calling with the carkit it does connect and make the call, but I hear a terrible garbled sound and i don't hear the other side
When I turn off bluetooth and than start Sygic... sound is perfectly loud
I have tried several roms, lastly thinking the issue might be solved with 4.4 but still the same
Is bluetooth hardware or software, and, when software, is it kernel or modem related?
Anybody know what causes this problem and how to solve it?

Really need some help here
No one?
If only someone could start of by telling me if bluetooth is kernel or modem related, or can I replace the bluetooth stack?
hello guys , sorry for the break , I update tonight via ota the ZenWatch 2 and I wanted to ask you a question : " You should also note that in the call if you turn up the volume this is " scraping " and distort???"speaker " scratch " in a high call volume ( maximum possible volume)
Thanks all!!!!!
I just experienced it too. Just seems to happen when in a call, alarms and notifications sound fine. I will try to play music with it and report back.
I 've tried to listen to the music , and this feels very well and especially with a larger volume than calls ! I simply believe that the calls have this "problem "
There is a crackling sound only during calls. Any idea ??
I have also used music and alarm sounds fine, on calling volume get's distorted.
Same problem here
have you also noticed that although the volume of the speaker is at maximum , is lower in the call than when you listen to music ? For me it is very difficult to use in the car , because the volume of the speaker , is covered by the noise of the machine !
Yes music plays loud but call volume is average.
Do you have to have a phone with marshmallow to use the speaker

Found a solution for the volume in calls:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65830574&postcount=3
I am experiencing the exact same problem , speaker works fine with music at highest volume , but it is distorted on calls on every volume step after the half volume , as volume is increased distortion also increases
One more thing i have noticed , whenever i talk through the watch , the other side can hear their own voice as an echo sound , do u guys have the same problem or only i have this , coz if i only have such a problem i shud initiate a replacement as i just purchased the watch
Anyone ?

Hi,
you may try to turn the Microphone noise suppression off in the call settings.
I faced similar issue, it was cutting off silent tones of voice.

Pretty sure you need MM build 575 for that feature. It's not in 570.

@mascox14, Although the settings are somewhat related accessories, you tried to change the microphone sensitivity from there?
Settings / Sound and Notifications/ Accessory settings / Mic sensitivity
Look at what value is pre-made and test after that the microphone in the Settings / About phone / Diagnostics
Change it to High level and test again in service menu for results.
Will was surprised by the difference in the test.
Set mic equalizer to "bright" and see if that helps. I know equalizer is not supposed to be related to the voice sent but it helped for me.
