Upgrading from Custom 3.1 rom to Official ICS - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So last year I got my tablet and used TASK650's Paris custom rom. So far no issues but I want to finally upgrade from that to ICS or even jelly bean if its available. What is the safest way to upgrade? Should I first go back to stock and go through the offical OTA updates, or download a custom jelly bean rom developed by another person.

It sort of depends on whether you want stock ICS, CM9, or Jelly Bean. If you want to flash a Jelly Bean ROM from Honeycomb, you may only need to upgrade your recovery. Go to the following site http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10/p4wifi/ and download the "recovery.tar.md5" (that is CWM Recovery version 6.X.X), which is what you'll want before flashing a 4.1.1 ROM. Just flash the recovery via Odin then you should be OK to flash the ROM. Report back if you run into a problem.

You could flash it via Odin, or alternatively flash your stock ICS rom again and then update via KIES (just don't root before using KIES)
EDIT: KIES or OTA
Rooted and on the stock Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware from Samsung. thank's for the advice, I'm a expert now lol.

Download the OTA 4.1 Poland firmware & flash it through Odin. That's it, you are good to go. Then you can root & install CWM.

You will only receive OTA`s for the rom of your region, if you want that just flash the Indian JB rom and do not root, If you are rooted OTA`s will not be installed as you have a custom recovery. You can however update with Kies, but you will loose root. See item 3 in my signature how to flash with Odin.

[Q] How to install CM10 rom if currently on leaked stock JB?

Hi.
I'm currently on stock rooted xxlsj JB (with philz kernel) and I want to go back to cm10. Is there any special procedure to do that, or do I just make a full wipe and flash rom normally?

dummy question about ota jb flashing

can i backup stock rom&kernel via ss3 and flash the jb kernel via ap-fastboot and then flash this rom and the Jelly Bean GSM Patch?
and if something goes wrong or i just want my ICStock back, can i do it?

Which roms is stable and camera fix P7510?

Forwarded from my other thread post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473982 , I have 2 questions.
1. Which thread guide me to flash to custom rom straight way from HC 3.2 stock samsung 10.1 P7510 to JellyBean custom roms ? including Nandroid backup ?
What I know , flashing from 3.2 to 4.1 method must be in a correct step avoiding brick or I Should use the traditional method , 3.2 to ICS then Jelly bean ? such as kernals base issue ?
2. There are so many custom roms avaliable. I would like to know , which rom works the best with compatibility and smooth UI ? Camera fix and etc ?
Appreciate any help

First...to which ROM is the best...depends on you're style and device. All devices aren't equal...even when they are the same variant. But I like the 4.3 ROMs.Look at my SIG to see which one I'm running today...Lol.
Now..on to you're rooting. You most definitely need to update to 4.0.4 ICS..I have a guide after you're on that version so you can root and stay stock or flash a custom ROM.But you need the ICS boot loader to flash almost all of the new jelly bean ROMs, if not all of them.I believe when you do the official update from kies it will install that boot loader.( never had to as my device was on 4.0.4 unrooted ).
Back up you're tab to you're PC before you go updating..The update might wipe sdcard, not sure. And in case the update goes side ways on ya.
Let me know if you need any help.

Getting to the safe side , the best is using traditional flashing to ICS then to JB.
I am currently rooted for HC.The ordering , I need to flash it to samsung ICS first ? which mean , I need to unroot my device ?
Or I can just flash to custom roms ICS ?
Currently , stuck at this point.Which is the correct procedure ?
Flash stock ICS first using Odin first. Then you can flash to any version you want.

No. Just flash it with Odin. Don't use that ROM. That is a modified version. Download the stock ROMs at www.sammobile.com.
