Hey guys received my international GS3 about a week ago and have just noticed with my screen that the top seems to be slightly brighter than the bottom. Its not a real big deal because if you weren't looking hard you probably wouldnt notice it but I am wondering if anyone else's phone is the same?

Liquipel I777

Has anyone sent their Galaxy S ii(I777) to Liquipel? I know it's not an option on their list of phones but they still let you send your device. I sent my device on Friday and will receive it back this week, you guys interested in knowing that if it actually works? Ill post up a video of my Galaxy S ii I777 getting ''Wet'' on.

Update! I just posted a video on my Liquipiel-ed Device.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-MQEXOVMok&feature=youtu.be
Looks interesting but since I got my very first dumbphone I never had problems with getting water on it.
It opens up possibilities, but nothing I need at the moment.
Passing it on to my foolish friends though, so thanks for that!
No problem!
So it makes it water resistant but not proof right?

I saw a product similar to this years ago when it was still in testing, and I thought it looked awesome. (Showed a guy playing with an iPhone 3G underwater).

Wasn't there a video recently of a guy with a GSII that he put in a bucket of water and called his phone? I seem to remember that it lit up and displayed normally.
Yeah I've actually been waiting to see if this catches on.. Good stuff!
sent from my Galaxy SIII ...haha jk, I FOiLed ya!
I want see more reviews as its really new. But This is real. And does work. Here is how.
Hydrophobic nanocules are applied via vacuum. Thus coating the outside AND INSIDE from water molecules (which are bigger than the nanocules) thus can't get in and create a conduction.
It is rated itx-7 meaning it is waterproof to up to 30min at 1 meter (3feet) depth... Jeez. So i wanna go swimming with it

Its not meant for warranty purposes.. This is just for anyone that wants to protect their device from water damage.
Im sure it voids the warranty..
*edit* .. I think they are also trying to get in with (somebody.. I forget, but they mentioned it at CES).. so that phones come with the Liquipel protection - which is a great idea but than the suppliers end up losing money because of not having to replace asany phones.. Not sure how it all works but somebody loses potential mula

i played with this stuff at CES this year. It was Fascinating! They used the stuff on a Napkin and had it sitting in a pool of water. When you pushed the napkin around in the water it never got wet and just rolled off (unless you were extremely harsh with it).
Quite impressive to see. You could also see the water interacting with the screen as it splashed against it (showing that its not just a "fake" cover)

Screen issue

This is my third note. And just like my previous one, a area on the screen (bottom right corner) has formed were the touch is less responsive and it has a different texture. I don't think that this is a residue but rather a burn or maybe something has rubbed off. Again, this is the second time this has happened and in the same exact place. Any help on what I should do would be appreciated.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
What case are you using, where do you keep your phone, if this is the second phone to do this then something is going on on your end, I'm just curious as to what do we can eliminate causes
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I'm on my second Note and I've had the same problem on both. The middle-left part of the screen is covered in dead pixels & scratches. I'm honestly not sure how, I've got the iVisor AG screen protector (peice of crap, falls off after a day of distorting your screen) and the Flip Cover so scratching should NOT be happening. I love the phones performance, but damn if it doesn't have hardware issues.
Worst part is ATT has refused to replace it because it still works. If I run a "Premium Bike Shop" and I sell you some rusty POS unicycle that instead of a seat has a rhyno horn sticking straight up I'm going to replace it for what you paid for. I'm not going to say "Well that tires still spin, don't they?"
Magnet
Does your flip cover have a magnetic catch? If so, is the magnet located just about the bad area on the screen?
I baby my phone. Definitely not any fault on my end.

Small claims court is a beautiful thing.
Sue AT&T for the cost of a new phone, the ~$36 filing fee, any lost wages (for time spent both filing and the day you will spend in court) and a small amount extra for your time (the usual standard is to add the amount your income 'lost' for the time you spent in court & filing AGAIN to the total). You could also add a couple of extra hours of your normal working wage for the time you spent preparing the case as well.
In the long run, if you loose, all youve lost is ~$36 and one day worth of wages but if you win, AT&T will be forced to replace the cost of the phone and hopefully be penalized extra in the process.
Oh, and the 'cost of the phone' bit is if you were to buy it OFF contract because you wont be able to buy it ON contract since you already 'have' a contract.
Bring plenty of documentation proving your returns, the reason for the returns and evidence that this is happening to other people. Your AT&T contract probably isnt a bad idea to bring as well.
Ok I'm not going to sue anyone. I still have a one year warranty right? So that should take care of me for now. And if I am lucky maybe they will exchange one right then and there at the store. The thing that bothers me the most is that what if this happens again? Is it some sort of design flaw? Or did I really just get unlucky twice in a row.

I'm talking about a physical issue with the screen. Not a software problem. It would be nice to know if att stores are acknowledging this screen problem. It seems like after a certain period of time something weres off in the lower right corner. BTW the area is about the size of a half dollar except its oval shaped.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I Just exchange my note due to the camera problems and then the new note I have is having same issue with the screen the same corner. not as big as a half dollar for me
But still notable compared to the other corners. Now I tested this on my old 4 day old note and my new one.
For now the issue isn't a problem for me since its the very corner. But if what the other person was saying about the screen degrading over time this could worry me.

Oh, yeah, sometimes the actual screen is a half a millimeter or so to one side or the other so the black space around it can be bigger on one side than the other. But as long as the screen isn't crooked (i.e. it's straight up and down as it appears to be) I wouldn't worry about it.

Had you mentioned that in the original post you may have got a less terse response.
Either way what you are talking about is the misplacement of the screen within the case by about 1000th of an inch. if that really is an issue for you then I suggest going back to your supplier and trying to get a refund or replacement.

Well, it's a very minor aesthetic issue that doesn't affect the phones performance, so it's really a matter of opinion on how big an issue it is. If it's really bugging you, you can try and get it replaced. But in my experience almost every phone has minor issues like this. Some are less noticeable because their front panels are entirely black and mask the minor alignment quirks. But if the screen bumps right up against white or some other color, you're probably going to notice it more.

Somebody died swallowing water, that does not make the water poisonous.
There are 10.000.000 s3's out there, apart from the suspicion the exploded phone was microwaved, chances are that 1 out of that many apples contain a worm, 1 out of that many cars have a bad tail pipe. Etc.
Get insurance. Done. And even if it does explode within the first year, Warranty is there. After that? Insure with provider.

Actually the report came back from a Samsung investigation that the phone was damaged by microwaves and that the user put the phone in a microwave to dry it off.

Actually, within the EU the warranty is two years, if you didn't already know. (Check the warranty booklet if you don't believe me)
I'm always surprised how few people know this since all manufacturers provide it. Everyone just assumes it is one year.
Might not apply to OP (since there's no location), but just making sure no one gets ripped off buying an "extended warranty" for after the 1st year. Accident insurance is not the same though, and may well be worth it.

Screen defect

Ok so I've got a weird screen imperfection, it's an inch long thin lightening bolt shaped mark near the top center of the screen. It's only really visible with light blacks and greys, (and that's if your really looking for it). It's like after you shake an etch-a-sketch and you can still see a little of the line left over. Anybody else notice anything like this? I paid for this phone outright to keep my data and am unlocked and running cleanrom. I would hate to get a refurb and go through all the trouble of restoring this one and unlocking another. What would you do, live with it or get a refurb?

Welcome to AMOLED screens. Well known issue. Sometimes they are splotches too. Just Google it and you will find matches galore. If you switch it out you could get a worse one or a better one. Hard to say. I've got one tiny mark on mine towards the top middle. My GSIII had 3 huge splotches near the bottom.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
However, for the number of these phones that are out in the world, the percentages are very low that you will see it again.
Return it if it bothers you.

My S3 had splotches all over the screen that ruined viewing it at night, but my Note 2 is pretty much perfect. I say take it back and see if you have better luck this time.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea that was an issue with this display tech. I love this phone so much I was willing to try to ignore it or say hey it makes the phone uniquely mine but I do hate that my phone is a little less perfect lol.
I guess I'm going to stop by Verizon and see what they say, if they offer me a refurb I think I'll just keep what I have. If somehow I can get a new one maybe I'll ask for the grey instead of white this time? Dam, if I do that then the iPhone owners I regularly crap on will be able to talk crap about my less than perfect android LOL.
