Wanted to share this....(however many of us might know this. If this is useless....Then, Moderator... You can lock this thread)
The GB version came with screenshot app molded in the power down menu. But I missed it in the ICS version.
I had been using Screenshot ER Apk.
But I found this Inbuilt App is still there.
To trigger use this key combinatio:
POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN ROCKER
Done!

This isn't an app, but a built in ICS feature. And a lot of threads had been created to talk about this...

It's a shame Sony didn't bother to tell people about this. I've told about 10 people now

Why should they?
That's how nearly all ics devices take screenshots. They also didn't tell you how to scroll etc and I guess you still figured it out :/

Double check what model of phone you have. Most common cause of soft keys/menu keys/capacitive keys not functioning correctly is because you flashed a ROM not intended for your model of phone. (usually an SGH-I777 ROM on an I9100, or an I9100 ROM on an SGH-I777) Which is mild compared to the possibility of completely bricking the phone if the hardware is disparate enough.
That ROM you referenced ([ROM][4.0.4][AROMA][OTA][TABLET MODE] D4 Rom v10 - D4 Theme Engine v4.0 [29/04/2012]) is for the GT-I9100.
You only referenced the fact that you have a samsung galaxy s2. Well, there are over a dozen different models of Galaxy SII...
Look on the label under your battery. What does it say for Model?
thank you for answering,i do have the i9100 gt...
any ideas?thanks again!!

Hmm. Do you have a lock screen, and a menu when you home power for 1-2 sec?
Flash another ROM. Or flash this one again.
Probably because your tablet mode rom doesnt use the menu button but soft key.

Do you mean if I press the home button? If I press the home button it shows all the open applications or pages that are still open...

I'm on the wrong track.
So you're saying the Menu soft key does absolutely nothing?

When I press the menu button it doesn't matter if it's for a second or two... There is a menu with 6 options coming up :add, notifications, settings, search, etc

My bad, think you should ask this in the rom thread your using. May be the developer will help you out.
But this time fix your title to proper question.

You said in your OP that it does nothing... But in any case, I agree with atifsh. Sounds ROM related. I'm on stock, and when I hold the menu button, if the search option is available, it will open.
Thanks anyway!

Thanks in advance.

Its pretty useless but if you are not comfortable deleting it tahb simply go to system-apps and go to fast dormancy.apk and rename it to. apk.bak
U can use this method ddor whichever apps you don't want.... Just add .bak behind them and they will be frozen..

I doubt that. Deleted it yesterday and my camerabutton still starts the camera with screen off for about 30 mins, takes a picture and the message 'quick launch mode' appears.

Hi guys I have recently swapped from a galaxy s to an xperia u. hardly an upgrade, but just fancied a change. anyway i liked the fact my custom rom on the s had a kill app button, where i could hold down the back button for a couple of seconds and it would kill the current app. i know you can get task managers and stuff but quite frankly that is a pain and i liked such a simple idea. is there anyway to get this on the xperia u?
found a couple of posts on the forum but nothing that really answers my question for the xperia U in particular...

Hi,
I was used to use the Resurrection remix ROM or AOKP based ROM, and the screenshot of the phone was easily made by pressing the power button which open the "reboot, shutdown..." menu and there was a screenshot option.
But now I'm using the Omega ROM, based on the samsung official ROM, and I can't find how to make a screenshot.
Can someone tell me how ?

It's a bit funny, you have to press and hold them both at exactly the same time. If you press home or power first it'll just register thst keypress.

You're right.
That's the first time that I read someone who deigns to make that point.:good:
This is useful since usually the key combinations do not require such synchronization.

So title says it all....is there anyway to disable the soft buttons? I give my phone to my boy so he can watch videos and movies but he hits a button every time. Not sure if there is a hack to disable them since I have pie or on screen soft buttons to use.

This should work for you.. not that simple since you need to modify your build.prop(meaning I don't believe there is app, but you can search)
Also, in the nicest way possible, Q&A thread my friend

Two options that work good in my opinion.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zoodles.kidmode
Kid lets you block access to apps selectively. So no web browser or play store from angry birds etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.kidslock
And if you are using mx player for movies, then lock them into the app with this plug in.
Good luck, kids are much smarter than they appear with these devices!
