Hi, Baseband Version Question Here. - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive got a Samsung galaxy tab which has a reference band base version P7500UBKL1
While searching for a custom rom I ran across different versions of the tablet XXLQ8 or XWLP5 or UELPL
My main question is, Could i flash any of these roms and have it working?
If i do flash one of these would i loose the ability to use 3g? or would it just brick it? thank you for the support.

baseband works different for different tabs it is always better to not flash the modems .....if u want u can flash different modems without flashing roms .......some baseband will provide u better connectivity(signals) and some will provide lesser signals and some will use less battery and some modems use more battery ......if u don't want to mess with it just leave as it is .....or else go ahead and play with it
CHEERS
HIT THANKS BUTTON IF I HAVE HELPED

Wou have asked the same question in other section, too. Look there to see my answer...

[Q] Help me select ROMS

hello all,
Before I being, i searched a bit in this forum and in web. But the questions i have still are not answered.
I on KE2 stock ROM. i have an unbranded SGSII. I have rooted using steps mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
I want to install any of the custom Roms or the newer ROMS mainly because the battery usage sucks. with some hour music and calls battery get drained easily.
I dont mind updating to latest stock ROM also as long as it solves the problem.
Kies dose not offer me an upgrade and its also grayed out for some reason
Here is my SGSII specs
Code:
Product Code: GT-I9100LKADBT (From RegEdit)
PDA: I9100XWKE2
Phone: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: I9100OXXKE2
Baseband: I9100XXKDJ
If I have some problem, I want to revert back to Stock rom before giving it to Samsung. I have also ordered a USB Jig. It should be on the way now. So i can reset the counter as well.
Before flashing, I want to know what all i should do. Is it just fine If i flash the firmware file? Also in Samfirmware i see something called pit files.
can anyone help me in flashing the correct rom?
thank you
All Custom ROM's give detailed installation instructions in the first couple of posts.
For what it's worth, having tried a number of different ROM's, VillainRom 1.4 has the best battery for me. 2 days with moderate use.
+ Villian rom but read and understand the instructions before you start .
jje
Cognition S2 is a good rom, full instructions for flashing.
If you look in the android development section, theres also a thread with all stock firmwares, kernals and tutorials for flashing
thank you all.
I was wondering about how to revert back in case of some problem. Also do I need to take care something about the baseband etc?
I am kind of new so thats what makes me tensed! I dont want to screw up the mobile.
Don't worry, once you have USB jib, you can reset Odin flash counter and this is a safe way to rescue you in case of brick.
In terms of baseband, ke4 or kf2 are the best ones. Kf2 kernel + kf2 base band is a good combination. You can try many ones and choose by yourself.
On xda, there are all stock firmware to rollback if needed.
Take a look at the stock rom and branded roms post in Dev section find your phone and download a copy of the rom.
That can be flashed back via Odin to original state wiping any root and stock roms .

How about ROM Manager ? i read that It can install ROMS over air
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-koushikdutta-rommanager-nptD.aspx
Don't use that as far as know. My kernel wasn't supported and it took me days before my recovery mode was working as I wanted. Maybe it works with other kernels, but with my bad experience thus far I don't install that again.

Please dont install rom manager. Its not fully compatible with the sgs2. Use it, and youll be back here asking for advice on how to fix another mess.

Thanks. Then i will not
Installing rom manager is not an issue... Very few custom rom are compatible with this. Afaik Cognition rom is one of them.

You think I can install ROMS with this? no more Odin?
No this is a little bit more complicated. You need a rom compatible with this like cognition seemed to add. The main idea is to have a rom compatible with rom manager and this will allow you to change to another rom compatible with this. Unfortunately, there are not so many custom rom... Perhaps sicopat's one?
I justed wanted to say that rom manager is not dangerous to install and even to launch.
OK Thank you,
But I am still confused If i need to update the modem etc. Let me do some more search
You can upgrade modem version by Odin flash mode separately to the rest.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
Just download a modem.bin file or gets it from a complete firmware by unzip.
Put modem.bin into phone area of Odin and start accordingly of normal flash processing.
Thanks bgn9000
MY whole worry is whether to update modem or not. I dont want to mess with my phone as i think there is no downgrade.
Looks like I have to invest more time in understanding this flashing

First time android user (roms and themes)

So I finally made the switch from iphone to an android device. With the Iphone you would jailbreak it. Im guessing here, you would root it and then install a rom?
What do I do if I want to install a rom and then a theme?

First of all u need to root ur device, after this u need to install/flash a kernel with the cwm recovery (u can use easily one of the rooter kernel.made by chainfire), then u can flash the rom, kernel, theme, whatever u want/need directly thru the cwm.

My advice would be to read the threads on the many kernels avaliable all have instructions on how to install... Then when you feel confident make your choice and get yourself rooted. After you understand the process and familiar with CWM and what it is used for use the same process to choose a ROM... Good Luck
In all honesty, I tried loads of roms on my s1 but I have not felt the need for it, or indeed seen any benefit to a custom rom yet, and certainly not one that will out weigh the inevitable bugs in them.
Clockwork rom bootloader is excellent for full back up and restore purposes. Frankly however with this device rooting is enough especially now there are one click solutions for it.
Once rooted there isn't much you can't change or customise. Camera apps, hacked launchers etc
Personally I have found this far more stable and much more interesting than simply installing someone else's work.
OH YES WHILST I REMEMBER FIRST THING TO DO ONCE ROOTED IS BACK UP YOUR /efs FOLDER IMMEDIATELY THIS IS ESSENTIAL!!

I certainly don't disagree with that, wouldnt be without one packed with CWM for a start
Ok so ive been reading the threads and rom section.
I only have 2 question left. My phone atm is on android 2.3.3. In the root thread, I want to get 2.3.5 KI3.
Can I flash the KI3 right away or do I have to update my phone to 2.3.5 and then get the 2.3.5 KI3?
Is Firmware and Modem the samething? I see there both I9100XXKX#
Once I do that, I will root my phone, install cognition rom and then the ICS theme.

I wanna suggest to u the XXKI4 (2.3.5), this is a superb firmware, u can flash directly to this version without any trouble, for the other question, no firmware and baseband/modem are two different things, u can try many basebands cause there are some basebands that works better with ur specific carrier.
So, u should root/install cwm and than cognition and theme.

Help rooting?!
I need serious help to root my phone and to get a ROM on it. I don't really care about it I just have an error in my phone that is caused by water getting into my USB port (i think) any ways I have flashed phones before but only the first Xperia that came out. I have read the guides, over and over. still might as well be reading chinese. I need to take off that damn voice talk crap. anyone close to the washington dc area willin to help? I can pay you and if need be I can just send my phone away to someone maybe? I currently do not have a back up phone this is why this is such a problem for me send me a message here or email me at [email protected]
Be more specific what exactly is the error you are getting? And how did it start.

[Q] About the baseband version and custom rom

Hi,
Im kinda new in the android section and need some help.
I have done CWM and Root via ODIN.
Now I want to install a custom rom. Rom that I want to install says XXALF6.
I checked my baseband and it says XXLE8 and Build : i9300XXALE8
So what do I have to do?
Just proceed and install it or do I have to do something else before I go on with it.
Many thanks.
You can just install the rom the baseband and firmware share version numbers I believe.

Thanks for your answer i just installed a custom rom. It works perfect.
My other question is now my baseband, firmware version changed does this affect my mobile data or any ways of my 3G connection like phonecalls, messages etc?
Baseband is not firmware its the Modem .
Different modems can be flashed from the modem thread .
jje
Thx for the answer, so I didnt flashed the modem? It's only the rom?
Yep,most of the custom roms do not contain another modem, you have to flash it via odin individually,or via cwm,if it is downloaded as a cwm flashable zip

Modems are unrelated to the Rom itself, so you can flash any you like.
The modems have vast differences in terms of network stabiliy and data throughput.
Many people, including me, have the best performance on asian big-city-modems (with S1,S2,S3) but in the end you'll have to try for yourself.
On S3 I've so far had the best experience with ZNLF2.
However you'll have to note that better signal/data throughput always means worse 3g battery life since it needs more power for the transmission.

[Q] Best ICS rom if your going to flash a T MOBILE rom

Like the topic says, I have an AT&T note, but T Mobile service. I recently (last night) found the wonderful work by several XDA members of which they supply us with a flashable zip that contains a radio that will give T Mo 4G data speeds.
I forget which one I finally used (there's the SGH-T989 KID radio, VKL1 radio and one called blaze). There is also a build.prop file that completely rendered my device useless (requiring an OS re-install).
I also have a few ICS modems, again the "KID" or is it "K1D" Im not sure... that, the "Blaze" version and one from the carrier "Telus". I also saw a Rodgers version floating around somewhere. I think that was really for the Galaxy S2 but it works with our Note
Anyway I am really missing ICS, I have 2.3.6 now. I need to know what is a good modem radio to flash if Im going ICS. Also whats a good ICS rom (keeping in mind the flashing of the T Mo radio)...
thanks
Roms and modems are interchangeable, meaning you can use whichever modem you want, on whichever Rom you want.
The blaze modem is what you want to use for t-mobile
Also the apn settings for t-mobile would probably be beneficial

So it doesn't matter if the Rom is gingerbread based but the modem is from an ICS build? And Vise/Versa...?
Nope

Re-flash stock firmware

hello everyone.
I'm using andyx firmware v15 and taking my attention that battery dies too fast and phone feels lagging at times.
So i want to go back to the stock firmware and use a rooted stock firmware. but i have a couple of questions:
1) i dont really know which pda or country's firmware i have to use.bought my phone from poland and living in turkey now. can i find out which version the phone originally came with from the box or anywhere else?
if using any firmware wont matter, is there any particular one i should use? maybe getting the newest updates before the ones?
2) is the version 4.0.4 safe to use? my friend suggested me to use that one but i'm a little pissed off after reading the brick stories about it.
3) also someone else told me to flash stock firmware then go for the siyah kernel. whats the benefit for that?

1) there are no particular firmwares. Try out different firmwares on whatever suits you best. I suggest you go up for Gingerbread because of its stability and battery life. But if you want to be updated on the trending things, go for ICS.
2) i suggest you go for custom roms with 4.0.4 as a basis.
3) siyah kernel MAY be a suitable kernel for you, but then again, it could be different. Try out different kernels that best suits you
-Try the search button for further info so you could get a variety of comments from users. Happy flashing

Use CheckFus to find the latest firmware for your phone and flash it with ODIN.
To root your phone just do some reading. There are quite a few methods described here, some are easy, some are more complicated. In the end choose one that corresponds to your needs and skills.
Ive just done what you were asking for similar reasons. I went on to samfirmware site and picked latest and safest ROM. Then on to chainfires thread for the insecure kernel to root my S2. (thanks to chainfire) No a difficult task just read before flasing and make necessary back ups. All tbe best.
