Hi Shubham,
Try to charge you phone after switching off, If in swich off mode its showing the charging icon then charger and phone usb port is working fine, try to repair the phone software using Sony update service. with latest firmware. Hope it will work else. Contact service centre

Use the original charger, DONT use a generic one..
Same goes for the cable ! [ if you charge it using your PC ]
i remember reading something in TFM that said capacitive sensoring doesn't work well when the phone's being charged

My mates stock S2 works perfectly fine using my cable when connected.
So not that I'm afraid
my s2 out of the box didn't work all the time while charging, and when it did, it wasn't very responsive.
this is from the manual: "while the device is charging, the touch screen may not function due to an unstable power supply"
had the same problem, bought a new samsung charger and problem fixed
Hi I bought s3 5 months back and now im facing the slow charging issues.and at one point the phone wont charge at all.. blowing cleaning also didn't work.. I took it to the service centre. They first replaced the port and it didn't work. Later that day they told its mother board problem. They couldn't explain why. And couldn't tell whether wireless charger would fix this issue. If anyone could help me how to check hardware failure I could check myself and tell me if wireless charger would work nw??
I faced the same problem and the cause was my usb cable
Replace port failed and presuming a service centre would have a decent cable you need a new motherboard .
No way of knowing what has failed without removing the motherboard and testing each component end result you still need a new motherboard .

did you try other cables like htc one's or blackberry's? because i too had the same problem for the 1st cable and used blackberry's. now again the second cable provided by samsung service center isn't working after few days. so now using htc cable.

Yeah its the usb cable, samsung ones are rubbish, mine got to a point where it would charge 1 percent an hour, tried my brothers galaxy ace 2 charger which is all in one and charges from empty to full in about a hour and a half without affecting battery life

My port is not even working... Not detecting.. Nothing is happening. Any ideas to rectify??
You can take the battery out and use the universal charger.
I am sure my problem is different from everyone here becuase i did alot of digging and cudnt find any solution to my problem. So my problem is that a month ago i got my samsung's original charger not working anymore, Which turned out that just adapter is faulty. so i bought an apple adapter for my s3, which worked quite well. But a few hours ago i found my samsung galaxy s3 not charging. i flashed my rom again, did factory restore, anything i cud do as a first aid. i did it. i checked my phone on my bros charger but still no success. and his charger is working fine with his mobile, I have noticed that it connects without taking a second when i restart phone in download mode. But doesnt plug in to my laptop aswell( But works when phone is in download mode).
Note: My personal charger is working fine on my bro's cell.
Thanks!!
Usual reply .
Its the cable or the usb port .
Change cable
Take to a service centre .
....
But it does connect in download mode but not in normal mode to laptop with the same cable.

Try a different charger on your phone, if that works your cable needs to be replace or charger with cable replaced, if a different charger does not work then your phones USB port is damaged and needs a service repair.
There are multiple micro connections so it may connect to your PC in download mode but if the connections that link the charger are not working it wont charge.
So try a deferent charger and a different USB cable if neither make the phone charge the USB port on the phone needs to be looked at by a technician to repair it.
I'm pretty sure it's not the computer since I can detect other peoples S3 , and already tried it on several PC's ( kies and different drivers too)
is there a possibility of a busted USB port ? even though it still charges , but nothing appears in the device manager
Connect it to the PC in Download Mode to install some drivers automatically. So I understood it will work. For me it didn't work in like first week I bought it. Then, I was charging it on my PC for like half an hour and then it connected by itself. First days I connected it rzisted more nd more connected. Let's say like a car when you start it and push on the trothle. It goes more and more until you can go how long you want. Try via Download first then come back and report

Get a toothpick and clean your USB port on the phone. Had a problem that was similar to yours caused by dust .
That might be the problem.

Yes, because data uses other pins than charging does.
I have an other question, does your phone give -any- feadback at all when plugged in to a computer? Did you try a different usb cable?

connect the phone in download mode and observe if the odin detects it..
also try flashing any file through it(say recovery) and see if the transfer works.
if it does ..no issues with the usb , go for the pc then.

hmm funny thing though , I tried connecting a USB OTG cable with a usb drive
my s3 detects the cable but disconnects after 2-3 seconds
I have a weird problem with my Z2..
few days back it stopped charging through the usb port and couldn't be detected by my PC, I did try different chargers and cables.. but it did charge through the dock..
Took it to Sony service center and they declared the mother board needed to be changed and it was expensive.. almost same as the price of a new z2.. the guy there advised me to take it to any private repairing shop, changing only the usb port would be cheaper.. so today I took it to a repair shop.. but to my surprise the technician there said my phone was charging fine..
I was not sure but it definitely was charging... so brought it back home.. and... not charging again... tried all chargers that I had... tried connecting it to PC, nothing ! it did not go to flash mode even.. but did go to download mode..
and then I tried a 2.1A charger.. and there it was charging as if it had no problems ever !
So its charging with a 2.1 A charger but not through the genuine 1.5 A charger.. though it does still charge through the dock fine... and it still can't be detected by the PC..
Any ideas.. ??
I am still guessing its hardware but hoping its not...
anyone ? come on give me ideas..

I'm not sure what the consumer laws are where you live but I do know that in the U.K. where I live this would get me a new phone if Sony didn't repair the phone as mine is under a year old.
