Hello Forum!
I want to limit my phones data traffic to go over one specific network when I am roaming.
I noticed that after you loose signal of the chosen network for some seconds, it doesn't just say there is no network - it switches over to another, stronger network.
Reason for all this is the 3 LikeHome roaming tariff which afaik we more or less exclusively enjoy here in Austria.
Data Traffic, Calls, etc are handled as if you were in Austria - you just have to stay in the '3 LikeHome' network.
Is this doable?
thx
Phone: Samsung S3

My phone carrier signal is weak where I live and the Galaxy S2 switches to neighboring country on international roaming for any incoming/outgoing calls. How can I restrict to local GSM for voice calls? It was easy in my Windows Mobile HTC to select network but I cannot see how to do it with this phone? All help appreciated...
Would that not be settings turn roaming off ????

I'd have thought so, but I cannot find any such option under settings to stop other networks. Only has option for Data Roaming On/Off or Select Preferred Network operator. With preferred network chosen the G S2 still roams internationally whenever the preferred network signal drops out! How to stop is the question? I rather have no network than pay huge international roaming when receiving a call.
Hiya there,
I switched to Three's One Plan quite a few months ago, and it is seemingly great.
However, whenever I tend to travel through, or visit, places that do not have Three's coverage, it roams onto a partner network (Orange, I think).
As soon as that happens, I get the little "R" on top of the network bars, and a warning triangle notification which says "Data roaming - You havev lost data connectivity because you left our home network with data roaming .. " can't read the rest :/, although a bit of online research says " .. with data roaming turned off." Under the mobile network settings, I have Use Packet Data and Data Roaming enabled, and my APN set to three.co.uk (APN type: default MCC:234 MNC:20)
Any ideas as to why I can't get any data access at all? Customer services tend to get me round and round a circle, and keep asking me to try another phone, which I would if I could right now.
Did u brought that 5L abroad data packet and u can try to flash other modems maybe this help

1. Disable Mobile data, then wait for 3-5 minutes
2. Enter Service mode, then change network to WCDMA only, repeat it like 2 times.
Done.
Correctly good luck...

my problem is described here -Can others be so kind as to verify if they are also having an issue with receiving voice calls or SMS while their phones are using the 2G network for data access. (3G and wifi either unavailable or turned off.)
We have this issue with Orange and I have tested it on one Sunrise iphone4 and we had the same issue. Which is not surprising since Orange and Sunrise are operated by the same staff. It does work correctly over Swisscom.
I raised this case with Orange over one month ago and they still have given me no concrete feedback as to why their network behaves like this.
(FYI this is a network issue and not related to any phone configuration).
Feel free to harass Orange about this. It might get them to pull their fingers out a bit. When I raised the case it took me about 10 calls to their support plus 2 visits to Orange shops to finally get a technician who was capable of understanding this simple but critical issue.
EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. Force phone to use GSM (2G) mode only or be in an area with no 3G coverage, or if your phone chooses to use the 2G network
2. Disable switching to wifi:
3. Connect to 2G packet data, download email or download webpages: Status Bar-> spinning wheel
4. While packet data is connecting, using another phone place a call to your phone
5. After packet data has connected, using another phone place a call to your Phone
EXPECTED OUTCOME:
You expect the packet data connection to either DROP or be SUSPENDED (depending
on network capabilities) and for the phone to ring indicating an incoming call or SMS.
ACTUAL OUTCOME:
The packet data connection persists and remains active; the phone does not ring
and the call is handled by the network as if the phone was unreachable (for most
users this means forwarding to voicemail).
REPRODUCIBILITY:
always; no exceptions.
This has been tested extensively on the Orange network by me and many other users.
Tested devices which all show the same issue, iPhone4, iPhone3GS, Iphone 3G, several Android models.
HI, I am a lucky (for now) owner of OPX.
I have problem with network switching. Iam living in small village and i have to use network roaming (yes, i can use others providers network as well for free - in my country).
I'am in P4 network(base/mother network), but in my village there is no good signal for this network - so, i just using another one - usually PTC 3G because this network has best signal in my area.
I have few android phones in the same network (P4) and when i select network, phones do not switch to any other network - even if there is no signal of this network (Nexus4, Nexus5, Sony Xperia Z and CAT S40).
With OPX its different, and very problematic. When i switch to PTC network, it works and not switch to any other network until i left the phone and let it for sleep... (5-10 min) then network switch to the base network P4 and ussually there is no signal in this network, and i have to wait until i can make a call or send SMS message. I dont have the problem with any other phone. I see, that the problem intensifies in specifed room, where is Wifi(dualband) router - but not only. I suppose, its software problem.
EDIT: Switching to P4 network happens when phone screen is off and phone is in idle, after turn on the screen and waiting few seconds, phone ussualy connecting to PTC netwok with good signal.
Screen with bad signal: 1drv.ms/1JmvSU1
EDIT2: I found another freaky thing, after while of phone IDLE, iam turning on screen, and there is full P4 signal, after 1-3sec freeze (yes, freeze, laag) signal agin is 0 and i can enter phone PIN code to unlock.
And there is my question, how to make this works well ? Is there any way to force select only one network ? (i dont need switchning). Maybe can i do this with root privilieges ? I hope, you can help me guys.
