this is happening too often, unzip the rom you wish to flash and place boot.img into adb folder and in fastboot use the command fastboot flash boot boot.img then reboot. and please read my guide, the link is in my sig

no worries man i understand you're probably tired of noobs such as my self but yeah i used regawmod and it flashed twrp automatically

No prob, HTC has been pretty bipolar with their hboots. Again sorry for my reaction, I live in a rural area and there's been a rodeo event every night till 2:30am and its leaving very frustrated and exhausted. Pretty soon I'm going to turn green and tear that place down, and as I walk away from the wanton destruction I will reach into my pocket (because the pants always, miraculously survive), pull out my evo and play the theme from the tv series

Ah no wonder, I saw that it was finally updated, no wonder these threads came back with such a vengeance, he really should link the adb mini SDK for people with a disclaimer about the hboot. This sudden influx irked me

om4, what are you referring to in the edit of your post? (And no, I Dont mean what is adb lol).

I believe I'm starting to lose a few screws from the lack of sleep I've only gotten like a total of 15 hours or there about all week

http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/HTCEvo4GLTE/rooting/Evo4GLTERoot2.zip its labeled as evo4glteroot but its basically abd tools mini sdk to use it you need to open a terminal (dos prompt) and navigate to that folder to to use fastboot, when you flash a kernel unzip the ROM and put the boot image in the folder and type fastboot flash boot boot.img, check my guide for an explanation of flash image GUI and htc dumlock, alternative methods for flashing the kernel

Please help! Cant' boot ANY ROM (SOLVED)

Okay, so I am far from a newbie at this stuff, but I did try to unlock/root my new EVO 4G LTE today with disastrous results. As it stands right now, I've got the bootloader unlocked with TWRP installed, but no matter what ROM I install, after the HTC screen, it just sits at a black screen indefinitely. But here's where I really got screwed: I accidentally hit "Factory Reset" on the bootloader screen when I hit the volume down twice instead of once to get into recovery (and then hit power by force of habit). So now my internal SD card is completely empty and can't be recognized by my computer. I do have a MicroSD card, though, that I can access to get files onto it. So here's where I am. I can't boot into ANY ROM, so I can't just RUU it back to stock, my internal SD card is cleared, and I'm pretty much freaking out right now. This is my 8th Android device, all of which I rooted and installed custom ROMs on, and I've never bricked it so bad I couldn't fix it. Does anyone have any ideas to help me out? I royally effed up somewhere, and I can't figure out how to fix it!
SOLVED! Check out the DON'T PANIC thread to fix pretty much any of your problems, especially the one I outlined above.
Boot 1.15+ require you to fast boot the kernel, extract boot.image from zip and place in adb directory, then from terminal type fastboot flash boot boot.image. next jump into twrp and mount your external SD to your computer, copy the ROM zip to your phone. Now you can flash the ROM and reboot

I just sent you a $20 donation for your help. You saved my ass tonight. The wife was ready to kill me. lol
Yes HTC has disabled access to boot. They decided to disable it with a few phones, someone must love us over there because this phone originally had an hboot that allowed recovery to write to boot. HTC promptly removed it in the very next update
I put that link up to humor the gf, never thought anyone would use it. She set up a PayPal when I lost my job and I wasn't about to argue since she is now the one who pays rent. Thank you for proving her right, I will never hear the end of it lol

ok i found the zip and downloaded it.I have my phone in recovery FASBOOT USB is in red, BOOTLOADER is in blue.I have the boot image of the rom i tried to flash on my cpu.I'm so lost if I fix this I think I'll retire.
Im assuming your in windows. Place the boot.img in the adb folder. Click windows start button and type cmd in run, this will open dos prompt terminal. In the terminal use the command CD (folder) to go to what ever directory adb tools is in if you need to look at your list of folders type dir. Once you are in your adb folder type fastboot flash boot boot.img

Odd, are you sure you were able to navigate to the folder? You have to be in the folder
I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to windows, but I believe the structure would be c:\users\your user id\downloads\evo4glteroot2 or something similar depending on where you unzipped the folder

MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you saved me! This has to be done with each rom? My phone screen blacks out with this CyanogenMod 10. Is there a more stable rom or can i go back to stock?
Can you explain black out? You only have to flash the kernel when switching base ROMs or when the kernel for your ROM has any significant changes. Its usually a good idea to flash the kernel anyway. I got a ton of info in my guide, the link is in my sig

Unable to boot EVO 4G LTE

When I tryed to flash MeanICS on my evo all appeared to go well until I rebooted. After rebooting I only got a black screen. I can still boot into bootloader which gives me hope. I tryed reflashing Mean and a couple of other ROMs but the problem persists. I was hoping someone may have had a simular problem and had a fix or workaround that I could try.
Thx
Check my guide I listed this exact issue in troubleshooting, if you have any questions after feel free to ask
Thank you for your help. I now understand the problem (bootloop, caused probably by the kernel) but even a full wipe using twrp I can't get any ROMs to load, and I was not thinking and didn't make a back up.
Download a ROM and verify the check sum then unzip and place the boot.img in your adb tools (or SDK depending on what you use) boot to boot loader and select fastboot (from PC terminal, sorry) type fastboot flash boot boot.img and then in recovery try to flash the ROM zip. Be sure to wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset and system first to avoid issues
---------- Post added at 05:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:22 PM ----------
I just noticed you said black screen, that most definitely is a kernel issue but its a ROM base mismatch, you just needed to fast boot the mean kernel most likely
I had this problem literally yesterday. All you need to do is flash the boot.img located in the unzipped folder of meanrom and then flash via fast boots via pc or mac. Wipe everything first and then flash the BOOT.IMG. THEN FLASH MEAN ROM and wipe cache etc.
Sent from my EVO on CM10
Yeah I read too quickly and missed the part about the black screen. I decided it was better to outline the whole process
ok i downloaded a new rom, verified md5sum, and unzipped the rom. i also downloaded eclipse and am linking eclipse and android sdk to try and make this a little easier, i hope. i feel like such a total noob, well for the most part i am.... i guess what i am saying is that i don;t know if i am removing boot.img from zip or if i'm just checking something on the boot.img using adb
You just need adb tools, you are making this a little harder then it needs to be

Flashed, works great.
To access the SD card to flash things, rather than choosing "Choose zip from sdcard" you need to choose "choose zip from external sdcard".
This works just like the regular CWM recovery on the Inc2 (For those that had it) no touch screen aspects of this at all.
For reference (and those lazy)
Boot to the bootloader (when phone is off, hold down power button and Volume Down button till you see the bootloader
OR type this in terminal while phone is on and plugged in (with adb and fastboot)
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
once in bootloader, and makesure fireball4.img is in the same folder you are working in
Code:
fastboot flash recovery fireball4.img
Code:
fastboot reboot
- Or choose "reboot" in the bootloader.
And now you have the recovery. To access it (while phone is fully booted):
Code:
adb reboot recovery
It works perfectly. Thanks

im confused by your question?
a recovery is unique to a phone
u can go ahead and try to run an inc2 recovery on your phone and see what happens, but i don't suggest it lol.
i also didn't build this, I asked utkanos and he did it.
I haven't tried/put in any effort to build a recovery.
I'd like to get the soft keys working on this.

I'm guessing he means he was using a CWM recovery on his OG Dinc. I also used the CWM recovery on my OG Dinc and was very happy with it on that phone. CWM did all I needed and worked very well with the pro version of ROM Manger to do scheduled Nandroid backups. Based on that experience, I'm leaning towards using CWM, too. (FWIW, I'm also using a CWM build on my Kindle Fire, too)
This is why I asked if he built it from the dinc2 just curious

FUBAR

The title says it all. My M8 has the bootloader unlocked, it's S-off and rooted with Teamwin recovery installed. I started dicking around with it, and messed it up. I went to HBOOT and factory reset. I now have no OS, so obviously, my phone won't start up. I appear to be really stuck. If you guys help me and talk me through this, I'll stop dicking around. :-/
Also, I would like to load my stock bootloader, 1.12.502.18 (CID CWS__001). I've found the kernel source code as well as a 1.3 GB file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376 that supposedly houses this Nandroid backup, but I have no idea how to use it. God, I feel stupid.
Ok. I got the Nandroid backup recovery.emmc.win file pushed to the phone. Now, I have a red triangle in the middle of the screen and I can't get to recovery or fastboot.
Flash twrpCopy the rom to where your adb and fastboot are located connect phone via twrp run this command
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/. exactly as shown here change nameofrom.zip to the name of the rom your trying to flash...this will put a rom on your internal storage and it then can be flashed via twrp

I was able to get into TWRP just fine. When I pushed the file, it moved the file, but I can no longer get to TWRP. So the ROM is there, I just can't access it. Thoughts?
Ok, I got Recovery going. I'm now in TWRP. Where did adb stick the file I pushed?
take out sdcard if using one and only use internal storage..Have to push a flashable rom zip not nand backup.once is pushed it should take awhile, youll go to install like any other custom rom from the install menu. Or if you cant get that going use adb sideload command
Make sure command is correct
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/.
Dumb question. Where in the world do I find the stock recovery zip? I can't find any zip...only img, etc.

Thanks for the help. Downloading your ROM now.
If you can get in recovery choose the option "adb sideload" put the ROM on your desktop and name it rom. Then in a command window type adb sideload rom.zip , TWRP will automatically recognize the update script and flash it for you.

I don't think he was asking that. I am pretty sure he was asking where he managed to find the stock recovery, which is why the red exclamation, probably because he didn't pull or nand the recovery as a raw or img file before flashing something custom (the user that asked, that is).
I doubt is is a stock AT&T ship recovery from an RUU dump or ota, since there haven't been any for AT&T that I know of yet, so it's likely just a raw dump or was part of the nand backup he restored.
Already been sorted thank you fot you insight

Stuck in recovery, KIW-L22, bought from Malaysia.

Here's the deal,
1. I was on resurrection remix 7.1 custom rom with TWSRP recovery installed.
2. Wanted to go back to stock huawei honor 5x OS so I downloaded it on the internet, since I live in Malaysia, I searched for "Huawei Honor 5x Stock Rom Malaysia Variant"
3. Flash the rom, got EMUI 2.0 instead of the written EMUI 3.1 on the file (the file name is KIW-L22_C636B130_Firmware_Android 5.1_EMUI 3.1_Malaysia.zip"
4. Flashed HONOR_5X_Firmware_KIW-L22_Android 6.0.1_EMUI 4.0.1_C675B360CUSTC675D002.zip that I got from huawei's website
5. Stuck in bootloop.
6. I went into TWRP recovery and tried to do something but I couldn't use the touchscreen for some odd reason
7. Went and browsed XDA for around 2 hours and found that I can install another recovery that uses the volume buttons and the power buttons to navigate, thus I installed a recovery called "carliwm touch recovery"
8. Was happy could finally do something, successfully flashed the recovery. Went and downloaded Lineage OS rom based on my mistakes that I've done and never want to go back to stock rom.
9. The recovery has an option to mount the external sd card (my sd card in my phone, dont know why it's called as such), so I did, I still couldn't navigate using the touchscreen as it's disfunctional still but can still navigate using volume and power buttons.
10. Wiped all data, flashed Lineage OS, flashed GAPPS.
11. Stuck in recovery for some reason, can't get into my phone. I've re-flashed it many times
For those who want to know my phone model, it's KIW-L22. When it had stock rom it was EMUI 4 something, can't remember as it's very vague. I think it was marshmallow
Please help
EDIT:
I use Huawei Update Extractor to get into the stock rom that had EMUI 2.0, extracted the System and Recovery images
Used this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoZQHTidnGA&t=629s ) to flash back to stock rom that had EMUI 2.0
The only way to get out of the recovery is to reboot the phone
In the bootloader, it says "PHONE Unlocked" and "FRP Unlock"
UPDATE:
I've tried to follow the video again and re-flashed the stock rom with EMUI 2.0 and it still doesn't work
I've wiped everything in the phone using the recovery (wiped data and factory reset), going to sleep as it's 4:37 AM
This is what happens when you dont read the guides that are posted all over this forum, we have seen it so many times I have lost count and also the inclination to help sort out the mess, I would never ever in my life download any firmware that wasn't posted on XDA or flash a phone without reading guides on here first as they usually not only give the correct information but usually point to the correct firmware.

Your touchscreen isn't working and your getting a bootloop because you probably have the wrong boot.image this is clealy the case as your touch screen isn't working, if you search through my guides for al10 which i cant be bothered to get the link for now one of them has a link to a twrp image of what i rhink is l22, anyway its a twrp image, you can flash that using twrp and it should restore your phone, good luck

This is for the AL10 but should be of use to you, download the twrp image, you will need to make a backup first of your phone then follow the instructions, you cant restore using a update.app as you have wrecked the system image and ruined the version check so this is your best hope to reatore tour phone and install lineage, good luck

Then you will need to use adb to flash the boot partition, you have a major job on your hands which will be especially difficult for a noob, this is why its best to read the guides !

is this website trustable? https://android.****************/ho...actory-images-android-using-fastboot-0175277/ as a guide
huh nevermind, its censored, then do you have any idea how to flash the boot partition?
This will be my last instructions then the rest is down to you..
Download minimal adb and unzip it
Download Huawei extractor tool
Download stock update.apo for any honor 5x
Use huawei extractor and open update.app with it
Extract boot.img
Place e boot.img in minimal adb folder
Download hiapp from web
Install hiapp
Plug phone into computer in adb mode
Open adb command window
Type adb devices to check its there
Type fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then install twrp
Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img "or whatever file name it is"
No fastboot reboot recovery
Now install lineage
Now hit the thanks button and write a guide on why guides are important

Probably not working because boot.img is messed up, you cant have flashed it right, you only option is to try flashing each partition with the extracted files and hope it works and if it doesnt return it to a service center, im out of ideas im afraid, i flashed my boot.img before and it worked when i had no touch screen, didnt you make a backup before you messed with the phone ? Could end up being a expensive mistake, maybe try other boot.img or ask someone on here with a l24 for a copy of their boot.img but without that your screwed as it cant load the touchscreen drivers.

sorry but what's the L24? You've mentioned that for a while now. I'm using the Huawei Honor 5X, model KIW-L22, not L24. Nevertheless, does that affect what I'm doing right now?
