[Q] thought about upgrading - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right now I have a i9000 my mom needs a new phone want me to add her to my plan. So what I plan to do is give her my old 1 and get the s3 international for myself how does it compare to the i9000. and does it have jelly bean yet or is scheduled to get it officially?
already looking on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
to see how rooting and such goes

zooooooooom! :thumbup::thumbup:

An S3 would be a big (literally too ) step up from the original Galaxy S. On paper it is better in basically every way as you would expect from a phone 2 generations newer. In the hand it is up to you.

[q] ics galaxy s2

Anybody know if the ICS update will be officially released for Galaxy S2 in the near future (days)? or will it be following the first device released with it pre-loaded. (dare I say, like how apple did 4GS and IOS5)
I was expecting the update to be pushed following the recent meeting in Hong Kong, but no signs of it.
The Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone to officially have ICS, so i wouldn't put much hope into having it on the S2 before the Galaxy Nexus is even released...
The S2 probably won't see it for months and it'll be Carrier dependant, if and when it happens. Google only update devices themselves that are in the Nexus range.
Best case scenario, the Nexus S gets the official update first, a month after the Galaxy Prime is released. Non Nexus phones could be months after that and not all existing phones will be updated, although the S2 almost definitely will be.
Along with the Nexus S, Gingerbread Devices will get it...

Interesting is this line:
"Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically should work for any 2.3 device."

Cant wait to use it on my 80$ (no contract) Huawei U8650
I am pretty confident it will run on ALL 2.3 devices, and why should it not ? Its only a PHONE OS it will not need many ressources.
thank u
cheers for the replies. Im an EX iphone 3gs user, upgraded to galaxys S2 and not looking back at all

Advise Please

I have now Htc desire running gingerbread using custom rom and I want to buy a new phone , and I'm thinking of buying samsung galaxy s2 based on its reputation, will this idea be good or not as they both are running the same os and price of samsung galaxy s2 is kind of expensive.Does it worth. Thanks in advance.
galaxy s2 is much better compare to desire and s2 is now running with official ics. so if you got the right deal just go for it, else if you are not in a hurry to purchase and need something better wait for s3
you should wait for the launch of galaxy s 3 and buy the s2 then. the price will go down.
desire is an old phone, upgrade now to SII. SIII will be out in 8 - 10 months, and couple more for prices to get stable. thats a long time plus it will be as expensive or more when launched.
Get the GSII because it's a brilliant phone. It's still ahead of the competition, you can get a variety of great & stable roms and themes - and it's affordable now. Then change it 2 years from now with a cheap SGIII . . .

[Q] Buying Samsung Galaxy S3

I'd like to ask everybody if it really worth buying this phone. I have enough money to do that but shall I do that or buy some other phone?
Wait for LG, it's x2.5 more powerful, i guess

After owning the s3 for about 2 months. i can perfectly say that this is the best android phone available right now. If you want a phone thats will knock out every other mobile in the market get the s3.
I would suggest waiting for the release of the updated version of the S3 which has LTE (international version) and 2GB RAM compared to 1GB on the current i9300.
If you don't care about LTE and the extra 1GB of RAM, it's still worth waiting as the current version of the S3 should fall in price.
I have used Galaxy S , S II and SIII. Each one is worth every penny spent on it.
No existing device is better than SIII.
I you want to wait there will always be a qeue of more powerfull device coming and you will never be able to decide.
I had been with my S II for exactly 9 months when the S III was released. I wrote here on XDA that I'd never move up to the S III because it wasn't worth it...
... that lasted until I played with the phone for 5 minutes in a store. I bought mine in the same day and don't regret a bit.
Get it, man! It will be the best phone you'll ever have.
Get it. I love my S3. Waiting for jelly bean.

I've used SGS I, skip the SGS II, and now using the SGS III.
(Monster) Specs aside, the one thing why I decided to go with SGS III, and not it's competitor, is because I know it'll be a popular device like its predecessors.
From my experience using SGS I (a device I bought 2 years ago) popularity also contributed to your phone "lifespan". No official ICS or JB for i9000, but because it's popularity you'll find abundant custom rom with gazillion tweaks, mods, and kernel for it in community support forum like XDA.
Beside's that, I'm already quite familiar with the SGS environment such as the 3 magic combo, Odin, etc. Too lazy to learn from the start if I chose another phone
Wait for the i9305 (S3 international Lte)
It will probably be a bit pricier than the current 500€ for the i9300 but comes with 2GB Ram and an additional Lte modem.
Btw the i9000 has Jellybean through Cm. Just not official crappy-touchwiz jellybean =)

[Discussion] Your Next phone?

After almost two year now with the amazing Galaxy S2
and now is the time to move on to buy the "next phone"
so what do you think is the best choice?
Samsung, LG or Sony!
i'm thinking to get LG 4x or Sony Xperia T
Samsung There is coming "Samsung galaxy s3 mini"
It's like SGS2 but it's mini!
Galaxy note ll .... Can't wait!
This is a q&a section about fixing problems......not an old maids tearoom.
This sort of crap belongs in the general section.
I'd get the Galaxy Note 2 if it wasn't for the gigantic unibody! I've had my Galaxy S2 for a year now and to be honest, I don't think I can find a better phone than this  CM10 ftw! I love the screen size, slimness, screen, etc. I might wait until a phone that it's screen is at least under 4.6"... for now. Although at this rate, I only see that new phones' screens are just getting BIGGER and BIGGER . 4.3 inches is perfect for me because I can still use one hand at times. The Galaxy S3 looks like a fridge to me so no way xP Galaxy S2 again! I'd get the Galaxy S2 again and again until I see something with a design that fits me.
Thread Closed, there is no need for another "What will be your next phone" thread.
Thanks

[Q] We might get 4.2.2

So, this thread is important for us who probably won't be able to afford GS3 or 4, and we are staying with our S2 for some more time.
GSMArena wrote an article about Sammy's plans of updating its phones. They say that GSII (along with some other devices) will end its updating cycle after the 4.2.2 update. Also, GS3, GS4, Note2 and Note tablets will get 5.0.
This list is not official, though it's rumored that it comes from an insider.
What do you think, will we see another update on our phones?

and there are already threads like this...
What to do is wait 5/6 years and youll be able to pick up an s3 for under £50.So you can start saving now and you should be able to buy one then.
