HI,
I've been looking through the bugs and working list on both Ubuntuz's and Agrabren's JB releases but failed to find if the hardware acceleration is working or not as I understand that it is fundamental to Project Butter working. Please point out if I am wide of the mark and if Butter is working or not.
Thanks

It's going to take quite a while before anything works in JellyBean on the EVO 3D.
I don't think hardware acceleration is working yet.
I know that Cyanogen Mod 10 is going to have full 3D support when it's done, but that may take a couple months.
For now, sit tight, enjoy what they have and before you know it, Jellybean will be working perfectly.

Hey XDA community
How far away is it from ICS sources being released and how far away from a port to lg-p500?
keep up with the program :

however, the lack of certain drivers is presenting an issue with 3D (for games and stuff like that)
Ah you legend Haha thanks Yeah 3D hw acceleration is going to be a cow to get going.
also, There is no point in flashing a rom because they will be buggy and most services will not be running.
Well,
i tried to see if the jellybean could somehow run, and currently it seems to run just as the ICS port that chaos did.
im still struggling with the bluetooth on it, but basically it seems to work, i still am not sure its h/w/egl accelerated.
but it runs, but looks pretty much like our ICS build with pretty much the same flaws and problems, except it using framework from 4.1.1.
im testing gps and other part the next days and might upload but cannot promise continued work on it, since our kernel is still the primary reason for missing camera and proper app switching and performance tweaks of kernel 3.x.
btw, it was based based on desireHD+tf201 builds. libs of DHD and framework from tf201 (got AdvancedPowerMenu builtin)
got problems with 160 as density, then its still with mobile view, 120 works, but very small.
Hi any news on development with port on one v ?
Is that his would be more functional to have a port with the htc ville C2? with HTC Sense
Thx for trying Dexter. How r the odds to improve the port? Same as XXL port?

well,
it goes forward. wifi, gps, compass, sound, vibrator, accelerometer, light sensor ..works..
camera, bluetooth and a fuzzy touch display when scrolling(as seen in other ics port)
I think the mobile view your seeing is the new 7 inch tablet mode. Basically the ui and launcher all look like a phone, while all the apps run in tablet view. I'm mixed on it myself, would be ok with it if the launcher worked in tablet mode. Good job nonetheless and good luck!

For me scrolling issue is the most annoying. It doesn't let us feel the fluidity of ICS and JB. And, fluidity is the USP of these higher versions. Though I use camera often also, but fluid scrolling is must for me. And, this is our main reason why we want ics on our device.

agree, and that is part of the onexxl rom, but sorry, i do not see it here and display drivers are not compatible.
but important is also that drivers are not native for this device, i might be in better luck porting a OneV rom, when its official.
i tried parts of the nexus one where possible, and still not much improved here.
camera i live without, i got a mobile + real camera beside this one.
So I guess Drew will not release his "build" because you have one now?

well, i am trying to port kernel changes to this rom, since chaos kernel compile, disables touch display for me, so im trying to see if i can get better performance on it with chaos work here, but unlike others, i cannot promise it works out. i am just trying for the fun.
i move from the tf201/dhd release to the official ota from nexus , so its odex'd for now, but does boot faster
okay,
i spend quite some time on it, and still no real progress.
media player is not using hardware decoding. and seems unstable when playing games.
i thought i had netflix working, but only upto playing a movie, and it went playing without picture
so for now, i am gonna rest on this work. it looked ok, but i do not accept all the bad flaws of it.
ill post an update, if i continue to look at it. for now i'm back at OneXXL
i decided to upload my work, with the recent changes done. you will find it online soon through this thread here
I wanted to get an understanding of the situation. What are the main hurdles to getting all the cameras on the tab working on all the ROMs? Is there something else that they are missing? Are there other components that need to be released by Samsung for the cameras to work?
Why is the front-facing camera more challenging than the rear?
I'd love to hear from some of the devs about this. It's really interesting stuff!
Back cameras already working in the ROMs I used, front camera needed the 3.1 kernel and a little extra mods, so far most of the Jellybean ports for my 3 Android devices have literally everything but FFC working... It's probably just a PITA across devices

That sounds great! Could you explain a little more about the front facing camera (explain like I'm 5).
No one is looking into fixing the ffc as a feature of its own. They are all busy building the 3.1 kernel for CM based on the lastest sources. They want to get CM9 to a "stable" release, this includes missing features like the ffc as well. When they are done, the camera will work.
Front camera would be great. I'd rather have front then rear camera since taking photos with a tablet is anything but comfortable. Front camera on the other hand would be a treat for Skype.

Is there any way to follow the development status of this?
About two months ago I tried a Jellybean ROM for my S2. The speed wasn't something, and I was told the reason is project butter is disabled for S2 roms, because of lack of hardware support. I was told that project butter will only be fully supported for the S2, once official jellybean rom be released by samsung, only then hardware acceleration will be fully supported.
What is the status currently with project butter and jellybean roms for the S2 ? I saw that some of the roms claim hardware support (they call it "HW composer") but some people say this is still only very partial support, and those ROMs are still not getting the full project butter experience...
Anyone has definite answer for this subject ?

NO. for now no custom JB roms of s2 has 'project butter' fully adopted
"Project Butter" will work when Samsung will release Android 4.1.2. They'll do it in about 2-3 weeks, I think.

I really wanted to have touchwiz applied to jelly bean contacts.
there are news?

What kind of news? Did you notice an official release of JB from Samsung?
Sent from the Matrix
Hello, first an explanation then a question...
I'm pretty experienced in installing roms, etc.
The video camera is broken in Jelly bean 4.2.x for the samsung galaxy note i717 (att).
Several other models too.
I'm really really disappointed because that means i'm going to have to go back to ICS.
I spent many many hours working on this and can only get low quality fuzzy vid that doesn't even play back.
Many others have had this issue as well, but I can't find any word on a fix.
yes, i've installed the latest GalleryGoogle.apk
i'm using the Liquid Smooth RC8.
If anyone can provide some info, is anybody working on this problem etc, that would be great.
Also, is it possible to get the older ICS camera app working with JB ? I kind of doubt it.
I did install MX camera but it showed the same behavior. it wouldn't even record...
I've tried to post to the developer section for Liquid Smooth i717 but I'm "Not allowed to post there"
So this is the only place i can post...
any info is greatly appreciated.
i guess it's back to ICS then. bummer.
Since all the developers creating JB roms are working with a base rom that isn't from our phone, the video board and camera hardware are not an exact match. So on our phone no video.
Until samsung releases a JB rom for this model/hardware, there will be lingering issues.
Download ucam from play store records video fine on JB
sent from my lovely phone....hmmm wait its a tablet...waaa i dont really know.....im PARANOID NoW!
or a 4.1 camera apk
Thanks for the responses, have temporary fix that works.
Hi All,
Well after a ton of mucking around I've found a kludge.
Firstly the ucam is weird. i think it leads to what the actual problem is. in ucam you can only select either 176x144 or 1920x1080. That's it. It defaults to 176 because the note doesn't support 1920... this leads me to believe that the internal software/drivers are not recognizing the right 'pins' for the note i717 camera... interesting.
What worked for me was to go to 4.1 jellybean . I'm now using Gubment_Cheeze_v3.4.
After finally getting that setup, the included 4.1 camera works. Takes very nice video.
Note that I tried to use the 4.1 camera in 4.2 liquidsmooth, but it kept crashing, rebooting, etc.
I tried ucam as well but same behavior in 4.2.
Now, after installing Gubment I installed the camera 4.2 apk and it works too, but not for video.
but that's ok because i can do video with the 4.1 camera and cool picture stuff from the 4.2 camera.
good enough for now!
