Firstly this happens due to lots of processes running in the background.
Now for the problem, you need to download app (like: Ram Mabager Pro) which has an function called "Lock Launcher In Memory".
Assuming you got the app now select "Lock Launcher In Memory"!

Home Screen Button Problem

Alright so I just got a Samsung Fascinate through a trade here on XDA and everything seemed to be in working order...except for the actual software in the phone. For one, the home button doesn't take me home, it simply takes me to a blank screen. I can pull down the notification bar and everything...but I can't get home to actually access and apps or anything. The only way I can access anything is when I hold down the home button to get most recent apps.
I've tried multiple times to hard reset..battery pulls..everything. Someone please help me out. I contacted the previous owner of the phone and he said you just have to press the home button a little harder...that didn't work.
It obviously works because it takes me to a blank screen and allows me to access the most recent apps..but it won't actually take me home.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys
Considering the Hines button is capacitive, pushing harder does nothing.
Is the phone rooted or stock?
If stock, try to Odin fresh stock. If rooted, try a different rom
Try installing a different launcher such as Adw, launcher pro or zeam to see if the problem goes away.
Now it does have a crack, but I don't think thats the problem because when I press it it still takes me to a blank screen so it must work.
And he gave me those options..and said it was semi-rooted? Considering I just came fresh from a Moto Droid I really know nothing about the process. Is Odin like SBF? I just want to have the phone in its original state to see if I even like it first..

I would second this suggestion. Often, launchers can have individual settings for what the home button does (i.e., with Go Launcher EX, the home button can be set to take you to your home screen, and if already on your home screen, pressing the home button will open up a shortcut, app, preview homescreens, etc.). So, by installing another launcher, it my clear away whatever setting is on the phone you got (i.e., launching a blank screen). Another option would be to go into your Setting > Manage Applications, and find your default launcher. Open it, and then "Clear Defaults."
Alright I got it to work by restoring completely with odin and changing the home screen launcher.
Thanks guys! It's much appreciated

[Q] Long Press Back to Not Kill Home Launcher

I tried searching for this, but could not find too much on this.
I usually hold the back button to kill off apps, but lately I have been killing off my launcher. Is their anyway to setup an ignore list so the long press does not kill the home launcher?
all i know is in cm7 u can set it up to kill apps with back and it wont kill launcher.
Not for me, as op said, long press kills launcher for me too -.- yeah i wish there was an ignore list... not that its an urgent fix for me, my launcher just starts right up again

[Q] Question about Launchers

Has anyone had a problem after you download a new launcher and it installs it will give you the option to start it or use the stock. But if you do not start it and hit the home button it will Disappear and not give it as an option by hitting the home button after that. Its on my app list but i have no way to restart it.
Any Ideas? Never had this problem on my HTC inspire..

Never had that problem, but do switch between launchers all the time by using Home Switcher. Free in Android Market
Try resetting the defaults for all the launcher apps. (Launcher, Go Launcher, ADW Launcher, etc). This way, the next time you hit home, it will ask you again what launcher you want to use.

Home button on S3 goes back to default launcher

When I press the home hard button on my S3 it keeps going back to the Samsung launcher I stead if staying on Themer. I don't see any way to set themer as my default. What am I missing? It was working then I tried the Samsung Knox app and it took over as my launcher. When I uninstall it now themer won't default.
Driving me nuts!
Help?
Found it.
Open applications and find Touch Wiz and clear defaults.
Sorry. I just had a brain melt for a moment to.
I had the same problem thanks
Glad it helped!

"Close All" Button doesn't return to proper launcher

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 on Lollipop, Specs:
SCH-1525
Android 5.0.1
Baseband Version 1545VRUGOC1
Rooted
I'm having a problem with the "Close All" button found in the recent apps (Hold down Home button). After I use it, it displays the Touchwiz launcher rather than Nova or Apex. I tried both to get it working. Since trying a few things: Cleared Cache Partition in Recovery, Cleared Cache of the Apps I thought would be conflicting (Touchwiz App and Home Settings App) I've had no success. Now, the "Close All" button blacks out my screen until I hit the home button, in which it goes to actual selected launcher. I've created a video to show what it is doing now:
Can't post video until I've posted more, SORRY!
I appreciate it you are able to help. I know this isn't a big thing, but it's enough to be annoying.
Thanks!
it is making a black screen because it closes the launcher. Since you are rooted you could reinstall the launcher as a system app which wont be closed by the Close All button

Okay, made Nova a system app, still same problem . Now it's going to my Touchwiz App Drawer, not even the home page.... It's really confusing me.. Now I'm determined.
I had another thought, what if it isn't an app or app killing, rather an error on the "app" that runs the multitasking window. I'm going to Google it right now, to see if I can find it and if I can clear it's cache.
Thoughts?
