Just watched the iPhone 5 keynote...EVO LTE is still a better phone. Android Jelly Bean is still a better OS. My, how the mighty have fallen. They once set the bar, now they're just catching up and getting left behind. The sad thing is, they will continue to sell boatloads of phones and millions of people will still think their phone is the most advanced phone ever....until someone shows them an Android or Windows phone (that isn't $50 dollars).
I'd still buy an iPhone for someone like my parents. It's simple as crap to use. When apps crash on the iPhone, it just vanishes and no one knows what the hell happened, so they just think they must have pressed a button to close it. lol It's a seamless experience for technophobes.
I am STILL glad I bought my EVO LTE.
The hardware especially the camera look nice but the software was another disappointment as expected. They will still sell like crazy tho

I'm honestly shocked at how little "new" is there. I'll give them a nod for the LTE radio, if it is indeed multi-band.
I wouldn't mind an exact iPod Touch clone to Replace my iPod Touch 4.

I can see this going well.
It looks like a great phone. I'm not a fan of the size personally, and I don't really care for iOS, but I can see this selling a lot. They obviously put a lot of effort into the details. Having a new connector sucks for people who have docks, but such is life I guess.
It's got all of the essential features that other phones have, like panorama and taking pictures while recording video, and it's an attractive device.

To be fair, a screen can have a lower PPI but still look better. PPI is mostly a buzzword these days.

Who has true, stock, functioning JB on their EVO? We're stuck with Sense.
The iPhone 4s camera is superior to mine on the EVO, so I'd assume the 5 is better still.
Further, the new iPhone will have LTE on Verizon and ATT. That's a true benefit over the Sprint network our EVOs are tethered to. Atlanta is live for Sprint, my ass.
Rationalize all you want, but Apple has released a beautiful piece of kit that will outsell this device by a factor of 500 or more.

Apple does not have a better camera. That is opinion. I have an Lte and a 4g rezound. Ive had a blazing fast 4g phone for ten months. Wow but now apple has it. Whatever. And HTC and Samsung hold crucial lte patents Apple needs. They will most def.be sued in court. And the apple fans will cry these law suits are stifling innovation!

Your attempts at name calling aside, I had a 4S for two weeks when I started a new job. I'm telling you, the camera is better. Period. If you disagree, you do not mind over-saturated reds and pinks, nor lots of noise in low light.
My EVO in real world application is a sloth when it needs to stream, download, navigate, anything requiring that thing called DATA.

What's there to research? I've read reviews for each phone. The Rezound does have a great screen, and a high PPI. This phone has a better screen, but a lower PPI. That goes to show that a higher PPI doesn't equal a better screen. Sure, it's a good thing to have, but it is by no means a 100% accurate way to judge quality.

No I enjoy my rezound which gets up to 25 mb dl speed. I don't blame HTC for sprints network. And I disagree about the camera. Sorry I guess dupe was a little harsh but I completly disagree with you.
But hey to each his own. Get the iPhone that you will have for two years. It's already outdated.

My point is that just because the iPhone 5 doesn't have a PPI as high as the Rezound, doesn't mean that the display is inferior to that of the Rezound, which you implied in your initial post.

Little background here. I don't buy Apple products. Nor do I use Apple's products unless it's an old iPod with the words HP on it. If I own a desktop/laptop, it's running some form of Linux (the weak Ubuntu ****), or the usual Windows XP/Vista/7.
The reason I bothered to mention this is because anytime anyone in my family gets a new phone, the Apple vs Google bull**** gets started up. Or Apple vs HTC. Or Apple vs Microsoft.
Basically the point where non technical in my la familia pretend they know everything about everything because they own every Apple product ever created since the iPod was introduced into the market. And its annoying when I am the techie and the software developer, getting into these arguments with basically Apple fanboys who just own alot of products that only come in the color white.
Yea im still rambling....the point is, I purchased the EVO 4G. Others in the family purchased the iPhone 4. I enjoyed a good year of verbal ownage when it came to comparing phones. The bottom line (so far from what we know) is that the EVO 3D has a 5 megapixel camera (2D) compared to a 8 MP camera on the EVO 4G. Sounds like a down grade to me. I know megapixels aren't the most important thing, but do you guys think it will compare well with the original EVO's camera, and more importantly (for my continuous family arguments) with Apple's phones? iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera but its pretty nice, and i heard rumors of the next iPhone having an 8 MP camera. Are we moving in the wrong direction here or is 3D really that worth it?

Honestly if I had the evo I probably would not upgrade to the 3d. I'm moving up from a LG Lotus. However, I prefer the apple iphone only because I'm used to using my friends' when we are out. Worst case scenario is I sell the evo3d I'm getting if and when sprint gets the iphone 4gs.

Yea I saw the images that were on picasa or whatever. Pretty bad, but from what I read, those were not 5 megapixel shots. I could be wrong, but it could still show some higher quality. And it couldve been a test device because I noticed some pics in that same picasa gallery with the same phone model, seemed corrupt (like only half the image was showing up).
But yea if the selling point is the cameras 3d, you would think its good quality. But HTC is usually cheap on that.

I have always been HTC lover. Since the pp6700 I had every htc flagship smartphone. True they were not perfect, which was why I ditched my evo for epic.
Better in a lot of ways but has problems of it's own. Ended up hating the galaxy as well. Well I wanted to come back to htc before catching wind of the S2
But I see in this forum of many build quality problems well scattered thought the device. Seems rushed product? Seems more faults then epic and evo together when released.
Just wanted to know what others feel.

I am on my second device (EVO 3D). I killed the first because I did a drunken swim (lil drunk right now in case this post doesn't make much sense ) and forgot it was in my pocket. The first had 1 dead pixel, only noticible when using an app to look for them and even then, I was the only one of the 3 people I asked who could actually see it. Other than that, the build quality on both phones has been outstanding. IMHO those who complain, for the most part, are those who would complain about just about anything and are looking for things to ***** about. The 3D is superior to the OG EVO in every way (with the exception of root). Is it the difference I had from my old Touch Diamond to my OG EVO, no, absolutely not. It is an evolutionary improvement with the added feature of 3D. I think the build quality of the 3D is night-and-day better than the build quality of the OG EVO, but that's just my opinion. Is it worth getting? I wouldn't go back to my old EVO, the decision is really to each his/her own.
I'm happy with mine too... Just that it lags pretty bad when scrolling in the market and some apps.... But I guess could be fixed by a update.

This is definitely an upgrade to my old EVO by a longshot. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth getting? Yes.
Sense 3.0 at its best, Camera is better, shutter button is a welcome addition, the screen is better, Stock speed is faster than EVO rooted, the graphics WOW, 1Gig RAM, a gig of UA storage & the 3D is fun as hell. It's one core alone is better & it has 2 of them. Most of the developers from the EVO 4G will develop for the EVO 3D.
I can cry about it not having permanent root but that's just a matter of patience.
You have 30 days to make that call for yourself, you might feel differently or even better about it.

What bigd said. I just took a video of my saltwater aquarium and it is mid boggling how beautiful the 3D effect is. On top of that this thing blows away my Nexus One hands down. May not be the best benchmark scorer, but it does what I want it to do and it does it very well!

Definitely worth it for me. I had my Evo 4G for less than a year, sold it for $240, and got the full upgrade price of $199 so it cost me nothing extra except one extra year on contract to get a better new phone.
I love the Evo 3D. And anyone who b*tches about it all the time cuz their screen is a lil bit yellow instead of white, or they got shipped with kingston instead of scan or w/e can just take it back n get the samsung instead and let the rest of us actually enjoy this beast. It's one of the best phones out there and the only 3D phone that is worth buying and that 3D feature got me laid, so STOP b*tchin. Not aimed at the thread starter.

I just wanted to know what would it take for you to stay with HTC? It seems like most people on here dont like the galaxy s2 but always say that when sprint gets the galaxy nexus there gona get it. Me personally both of my lines are are eligible for upgrades and i passed on the iphone rush and galaxy s2. The 1st evo to me completely changed the way i did and will always look at a phone. Not the iphone or any blackberry but the evo4g. The evo 3d although wasnt as ground breaking still made me a happy htc customer. So i ask....what will HTC have to give us in there next major sprint phone to keep people from jumping ship to the galaxy? For me its basically just ICS and LTE. Possibly a camera as good as the og evo as well. Stop using ****ty cameras, stop using ****ty screens, use better speakers, change the damn phone design for once. They need to get it, yes the first Evo was revolutionary but that ship has sailed. Change the design on the phones and make them thinner and make sense optional. It wastes too much of the phones resources because of how bloated it is. That happens ill consider coming back to HTC but it's not likely so I probably wont. And FYI the camera in the Evo 4g sucked even more than the one in the 3D does. All their cameras suck that ive used.

though I hear the complaints about camera, but personally I find it suitable for a phone, if they make it better, then so be it.
As for making phones thinner....im not on that boat here. Id rather have them the same thickness and size they are now. Holding those thin iPhones just doesn't feel right in the hand to me. Also when you go thinner you sacrifice the already slim battery life...

Same here brother. I know what this phone is capable of and snatched it when I had my Hero.
I'm just hoping the development last just as long.
Im not to worried about a thinner phone myself because i always put them in big cases like the defender or ballistic. I agree with the speaker comment though....i never realized how bad it was until i heard my friends iphone playing pandora on speaker

An HTC Nexus device.
HTC needs to innovate once again and get rid of the "cookie cutters", which have only slight differences. They should focus on 3-4 models across the board, ranging from entry level to high end.....their should be NO differences in look or features between carriers. This would also force carriers to focus more on improving their networks rather than flaunting that they have a "better" phone, which is what they should be doing.
Major (Android) updates in a timely fashion..... If we get ICS by June....and I do not believe it will be any earlier, that will make a full 8 months since source code was dropped to the open community. It is also well known that manufacturers have the code months before it is granted open source. With the expertise and resources that HTC possesses, 4-6 months is ample time to build and push an update....
Also i was on a service call and had to do service in one of sprints corporate buildings in fairfax virginia. A sprint tech there told me that the galaxy nexus will have face regonizition technology to unlock your phone. Hopefully htc has something similiar

yeah the only thing that might get me to jump the gun early is depending on the details of when we will see quadcore from qualcomm in phones. The current S4 Quadcore chip is the APQ8064 which is paired with the Adreno 320 BUT that chip is geard toward more tablet and mobile computing devices rather than phones.
Reading more and more around it seems the most we will see at lease in the "near future"(this year) is the MSM8960 which is their dualcore S4 but its paired with the Adreno 225...
Think I read the time we'd see even the APQ8064 is around the holidays too. So maybe next year for qualcomm quadcore S4 chips in phones?
The dualcore S4's are real improvement though still having modem's built in the die and getting the improvement there no one else is thus far...
I am in the minority but I prefer sense UI to asop. ICS is no different. However that is a very small deal when it comes to which phone I choose next. I have the EVO 4g and that sold me to get EVO3D on opening day. While I stick with HTC? Sure but only if they make best product to choose from that can be rooted. They best step it up because gIII looking good and all it would take is Motorola to unlock and I'd possibly leave. They have me.....for the moment

Those are all things that the Rezound has over this phone. The camera has been quoted to be one of the best available on a smart phone, and it has a higher screen density than the GNex because of 720p on a smaller screen. Design is different as well.

Never really had a problem with the form factor of the EVO or the EVO 3D. If I could get the same Sony cam that's in the 4s, better camera/camcorder software, like the 3D aspect, so improve upon that. 1080p recorder. Definitely must be more powerful, so either a quad-core processor or a dual dual-core processor works for me.

Wohooooo, just wanted to let you guys know that a few minutes ago I have successfuly lead an iPhone guy to the darkside (android). Muhhaaaaa. So I pretty much showed him my phone and explain to him all the neat features. You guys should have seen his face when I showed him how crisp and clear the camera is compared to his iPhone four s. Wow really guys? I still the iPhone takes better pics(i own one) but to each their own, I think they both are great device I just prefer android, some of my friends prefer iPhone and that's ok not Evryone is gonna like what you like

Some die hards do it but some wont due to money spent on apps.

My wife HAD to have the iphone since she loves her iPad. She got it one day before my LTE showed up. When she saw the screen on the LTE, she immediately wanted to return the iphone. The only reason she was at all hesitant was her case. She loved her case.......

My buddy has had every iphone, he's tried Android and he's ready to try again due to poor battery once he jailbroke his, but I agree..the iphone takes amazing pictures.
The quality is still better than the One series, but this is the best camera I've ever owned on a phone.
I do believe that the EVO LTE camera is on par with the iPhone. But again that Is my opinion. I did have an iPhone 4 when I had my EVO 3d. I played around with the iPhone and I couldn't grasp how limited it was to my EVO. So I ended it up giving to my little one.

If you expand the pictures of the iPhone on a big screen you'll see what I'm talking about, the screen on this phone makes the pictures look better, not to say it has a bad camera tho, really amazing for a phone is on par to the iPhone 4S, I just wish video had stabilization when recording, either way I give up a little better camera for more personalization, I gottired on my iPhone because I saw everyone with it(just personal thing) and im happy with Android cause of the screen, I still miss some apps, but is getting much better then last year was

The look of awe when people see my new EVO is priceless. The only words people really utter are "that screen" or something similar
Both my supervisors changed from their IPhone 4S' to the One X, when I showed them how much you can customize an android device. Right now they love their phones and keep asking a 101 "How do you?" type of questions.
The funny thing is once I show them how to do something on their One X, they always say.... That's cool, I couldn't do that with the iPhone .....lol

In bright conditions, those two cameras are roughly on par. But once it gets dark, the iPhone's camera triumphs.
JUST GOT MY GS3 AND NOT SURE WHY PEOPLE LIKE THIS PHONE THE EVO IS BETTER PLAIN AND SIMPLE I HAVE BOTH . Big mistake for me of getting this phone. Evo screen is way better and the evo feels bigger and better. Any questions about this phone versus the evo just ask ill give you the honest truth.

I never even considered the GS3 because I already know I don't like touchwiz. If the EVOLTE didn't exist, I would have gotten the nexus. Did they at least scale the touchwiz down? Always looked like a kids toy to me.

I sprint wasnt such a let down in my area I would have stayed. Cancelling within my 14 days and moving to tmobile one s. The evo lte was insane and really am going to miss that screen.

It's better but not even close to sence 4 I don't like it. The screen just really bother me having the evo for a month it just crisp with everything. My pictures look like a turd on this phone. I really was aspecting more I haven't really did allot with this phone cause I keep using my evo for everything. They seem about the same speed for everyday use.

Well my good friend just came over to show off & compare his New GSIII to my EvoLTE. Well let me know after coming from the E4GT this phone looks & feels almost identical. It is bigger than the EvoLTE but it is lighter & thinner which makes it extremely hard to hold comfortably & safely IMO. The screen doesn't even come close to the Evo. The colors are way over saturated and it has a bluish tint to it. TouchWiz is back & ugly as hell. It does open apps and switch between screens with no noticeable lag which is a plus cause the Evo has been laggy for me at times. Overall Im happy with my decision to get the Evo. Think I'll pass on GSIII and maybe go with the Note 2 if Sprint gets it.

I don't know if it matter or not but I get 5200 on Quadrant with evo. The galaxy s3 3967 whats the deal with that i ran it eight times and cant crack 4000 i thought theu had the same internals.

I hear people talking about the S3 like some new god of a phone, but I honestly prefer HTC, with Sense. The hardware and benchmarks are so similar, you really have to look at the devices and see what you personally prefer for the experience of the phone. I prefer the style of the phone to the G S3, and the extras like the dedicated photo key, which I use a lot, and the kickstand, which I actually use a lot as well. Don't forget the SLCD2, too.

Touchjizz and the GS3 look like a redeveloped iFail to me.
I agree that the G3 isn't that great, but for most people who aren't exactly super picky like us, will suck up the fact that touchwiz is god awful ugly and use the phone. Much like the iPhone, Samsung is doing a lovely job with the bandwagon advertising. People think the phone is god, people will buy said phone pretending all flaws do not exist.
I guess everyone's opinion will be different. I'm sure I would still prefer the EVO over the S3 myself, if given a choice...I just find it interesting how the screen on the Galaxy phones are always said to be color inaccurate and not as good as the LCDs on phones. I say this because OLED TVs are supposed to be the next big thing with the most accurate color reproduction of any TV to date, plus a sharper picture and best contrast ratio. And they will be damn expensive when they hit the market. I'm guessing there must be some kind of difference between the phone and TV version of the screens.

Well for the phones aleast amoled screens are colorful but not crystal clear like LCD screens . Side by side the picture looks better on the e v o screen using the same pictures it don't look bad just not as clear.

Yeah, it seems like everyone has said that when comparing them side by side... It's just strange when OLED is supposed to be the 'superior' technology. Maybe it's just a phone thing... on a side note, though, my next TV will definitely be a Sony and not a Samsung. Had problems with every Samsung we've had, and absolutely zero with every Sony.

Spring is preparing the towers for lte it's everywhere every phone is having that issue . I lost connection for a day and i just found out that alot of prepaid phones use Sprint towers my friends had vigin mobile and boost mobile and they had lost connection the entire day too. They fixed it for two hours then lost connection. We all at work thinking the world is ending lol. Sprint is giving me credit on my bill for that issue and anyone who calls in will to, i mean no data or signal or nothing but thankfully lte is up just not turned on because they said to me our town has to wait it's turn.
