i will try it and update
anyone know a work around for this problem?
I've tried some of the Hide Root apps, and so far nothing works. The brighthouse app continues to recognize the phone as being rooted. Sux

At least you got it to install, I get the message telling me that it's incompatible with my device. However, the TWC TV app (which it is likely rebranded from) installs fine. Just doesn't do much good when I have Brighthouse.
Brightouse is claiming "A rooted device does not allow us to set the permissions the LiveTv app needs to function properly".
Is this not such a bunch of crap. If their coders were worth a gain of salt they should have no problem changing or modding any permissions their app requires.
I'm guessing they are scared that rooted devices are able to record anything on the desktop. Sadly there are apps to help non-rooted devices to record the desktop too. So what would be the point of even searching for the xbin folder, which again I'm guessing that they are doing.. If this in fact what they are doing, could we add an app to rename that folder when the BH app is launched and rename it back when it closes?

Sounds like a bunch of bull****. A bit pissed that it aint working because of the stupid rooted crap. Someone has to find a way to modify the installation of this app but who will????
Thanks guys for the responds. Like everyone is saying it is a bunch of BULL****, but hopefully someone will come up for a solution to break this. By the way I started thinking why does it matter if our phones are rooted to B.H.. We pay them for service to our TV/Internet not our phones. It is not of their business what we do with our phones and if we made a decision to root, they should not block this app. to us. We pay the same amount that the person that did not root and they get to use this App.
I tried a little but the program won't get far enough along to help because usb debugging was enabled. I was using eclipse to monitor the log file while I launched the app.
There's a somewhat interesting (too much iFruit for me) discussion here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27195196-iPhone-Android-tablet-users-get-Bright-House-TV-App-Joy- on the subject. Looks like the reason behind the ICS only is because of DRM. Is it possible, the same reasoning was applied to devices being rooted or not?
the TWC app got a fix for rooted users, any chance there will be a rooted-compatible apk for the brighthouse app?
Wahoo!!
Got it working...

I got that on my touchpad when I was running a cm9 alpha, but it went away when I switched to the 6/11/12 nightly. Worked fine on that.
I have some of this posted in the Q&A but thought it deserved a thread here as I now have it working with Google Play Music on ICS. I have not been able to get the new YouTube application ported over to ICS yes but I'm still working on it.I could probably get this working on Gingerbread by changing the manifest again but I no longer have a GB device so if someone really wants it let me know.
What you need:
The modified NexusQ.apk file from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28636772&postcount=23
The new 4.3.605 Google Play Music apk which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19423409&postcount=1
A Nexus Q and WiFi network.
A device running ICS. I used my Bionic running leaked ICS but I did have to root in order to install the new 605 Play Music application.
Instructions:
Install the new (4.3.605) Google Play Music application from Steve0007's posted linked above. If you get an "Existing package with same signature.." error you will need to do the following (this is what worked on my Bionic):
WARNING: ROOTING YOUR DEVICE AND CHANGING THE SYSTEM FILES CAN CAUSE BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Root your device (I used this method on my Bionic: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...gh-releases-ics-leak-root-exploit-bionic.html.) Install Root Explorer from the market and delete the existing com.google.android.play.music.xxx.xx.xxx apk from /system/app. Reboot device. Copy 605 apk to device and install.
END SCARY ROOT WARNING
Install the modified NexusQ.apk, plug in the Q, turn on Bluetooth on your device (it will prompt you to if you don't) and get connected! I had to go through the process several times before it successfully paired up but from what I've read the same is true on JB devices as well. If you need to wipe out the Q you do so by unplugging it, plugging it back in and as soon as the blue ring starts place your palm over the single LED on the top until the ring goes from flashing red to swirling purple. This will factory reset the device. Since getting both my Bionic and Xoom paired it's worked well.
Enjoy until the official ICS and below apps drop from Google.
If anyone is successful at getting the JB YouTube application working on ICS please let me know.
Thanks to everyone that helped me get this working!
Thanks a ton!!! I've added a link to this in my roll-up (here) in the general thread so others will find it. I'm now able to use my Nexus Q, thanks again!
Eventually I'll start learning to do some dev work :/
I followed your directions but I still cannot stream anything, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I was able to get the Nexus Q 8 Ball easter Egg to work.
What is your current status? Do you have the 4.3.605 music player installed? If so you should have the little "beam" icon on the top right when playing music and tapping that should make the Q almost instantly start streaming that song.

Did you read the part about needing to manually remove the old play music application via root explorer (or a simple uninstall if allowed)? Have you tried either?
I wasn't too happy with Google either but the support page for the NQ does say that it is only working on JB until purchased units start shipping. Plus I've learned a lot getting this to work! ;-)

Just though I should specify what rom I had success with. I copied the app to /system/app folder and changed the permissions. I did NOT have google music previously installed. When I ran the app to install it said install failed. I then installed the NexusQ app directly from my SD card, which installed no problems. I did not try to run the NexusQ app and rebooted the phone. Once rebooted i turned on my WIFI and bluetooth and launched the NexusQ app and rebooted the Nexus Q. The app paired up with the Q no problem. I was then able to run Google Music app and play to the Q with no issues. *NOTE* When i walked out of the house (i did not manually disconnect the wifi or bluetooth, just hit the stop play music button and turned off the TV and receiver) and came back later, turned the TV and receiver back on, the visualizations or music track would not show at all. Just the NexusQ home screen. I rebooted the Q and everything is working fine again.
No, youtube does not work (which I think is posted an original post somewheres). It seems that a ported app will be needed to push youtube videos to the Q. I cannot test Google movies/TV as I dont own any.
I've tried exactly this on my HTC One S running ICS (albeit with HTC Sense) and can't get it to stream to the Q.
Everything installs fine (if I move it to /system/apps and change the permissions as mentioned) but I see no option in the Play Music app to stream to the Q.
Additionally, the new Play Music app looks it has lost quite a bit of functionality to the previous version - perhaps indicating that the installation went badly? For instance, there are much fewer options on the settings page and there's no option to choose or configure my Google account anywhere.
bobukcat - is this the case for you?

Yes that worked for me!
It still took a bunch of tries to get it to do anything though.
For a long time, and several reboots, the Q didn't show up in the list of devices in Play Music...

Volume control from the phone still doesn't work, and YouTube/Videos don't work either.
At least now I can enjoy it a bit until they release the real apps.

The Q app first.
When the Q finally showed up in the new Play Music app, it was after turning wifi off/on a few times ... don't know if that's what finally did it though.

No, my play music application has all the previous functionality and even more options in Settings, including Nexus Q settings. Did you install the Q application first? I don't know why this would matter but that is what I did.
Did you just move the new play music apk to the /system/app location or did you actually install it from application manager in Astro or other file manager? I don't know that just moving the apk to that folder will work (I don't think I even tried that) so you may have to delete the old one, reboot and then install the new one from the apk. Please try that and let us know if it works.

Yeah, I've tried to rebuild the YouTube application from JB with a new manifest multiple times but I still can't get it to work right, I did finally get it to install but it just constantly FCs and never really runs. Clearly someone much more skilled than I (which wouldn't take much) at modifying apks would need to look into this or we just wait for the official app from Google to drop.
Strange that the volume control from your phone doesn't work, as long as I'm in the Play Music application it works fine on both my Bionic and Xoom.
As reported in the OP I too had lots of errors and force closes, etc. when trying to get this to run the first time but from what I've read that happens on JB devices too and in fact I had a few on my Xoom running TeamEOS nightlies.
Hey guys. I just bought this game from the play store (yes I really bought it. No illegal crap) and it tells me this game is not authorized on my device. I am running omega 5.0.

That is DRM at work for you! I got the same message after buying it. Ended up using a patched APK, still waiting to hear back on the official version.
Edit Note: I'm on stock rom, rooted, perseus kernel, US Cellular version.
Are you connected over the internet when you are opening the app?
Damn DRM... I tried turning off internet and Data usage. Same problem.
So why do i even bother buying an app if i have to go and download a pirated version to get it to work anyway.
Thats just plain dumb
I don't know mate...i am running over stock rom with root...it asked for the internet connection for the first time......and then its working fine after that
Ok i fixed it by going to the Android Revolution HD 4.0 Rom. Weird...
Sorry for digging up the topic, I did not want to create a new one cus this is being referenced on other sites. So just in case someone stumbles here like I did, I've found a solution for this, don't matter what rom you are using.
If your device is rooted, you can install lucky patcher, select NfS MW, "patches menu", "remove licence verification", "auto modes", and choose "auto mode" and "other patches (extreme)". This will make the game work (assuming your copy is legal) and you can procced to download the game data (or play, case you already has the data)!
Hope this helps anyone trying to play this old but still nice game.
You can use Magisk hide, it works for me
Hello,
I'm considering the idea of getting a Gmate+(http://www.skyroam.com/) for my SGP5 but I have one remaining question. Ive searched all over the internet and couldnt find any answers so it must not be a big problem.
1. Will the gmate app notify me of sms/calls on my SGP or will i always have to go by the vibration on the gmate?
2. If the app wont notify me...is there a toggle switch or someway to disable the vibration on the gmate when i dont want it?
Because if the app will notify me then I'll just be getting the plain Gmate without vibration.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Nevermind...i found my answer soon after posting haha
Number 27 at http://www.skyroam.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83&..
As an owner of the Gmate+, I'd be happy to answer any questions you had about it, as I've had mine for some time. The app is a bit rough around the edges, it doesn't have nearly the polish of the android apps for phone and testing, but they work. Texts and calls pop up notifications on the SGP, with calls acting like a standard phone call on a smartphone, taking over the lock screen, etc. it also causes the SGP to vibrate or make whatever noise it makes for a notification. The GMate also vibrates, but it is loud, and quite piercing, as the device is very small and light. this, however, can be turned off. There are a number of checkboxes which dictate when the Gmate will vibrate, such as a connection, incoming call, texts, etc. One other thing is that I've never been able to get the web browsing to work, and the more I look into it, the more it looks like a bug with samsung devices on Gingerbread, so having an ICS rom might fix that, the other thing you need to keep in mind is that the app says it's not compatible for a reason, it will disconnect every 5 minutes or so, when the device goes to sleep and shuts bluetooth off, but at app I found called Bluetooth KeepAlive fixed that, even though it was a couple bucks, I think it was worth it.
Sorry for the wall of text, but in summary I guess is that the Gmate works and is a good device, but it's a little rough in how it's used and there are a few hoops you have to jump through to get it to work.
Hi,

So where are the options for vibration? Are they in the app i assume? Because i looked all through the settings and didnt find them.

So do u think the Plus is worth it for the vibration or not?

I believe the app shows the option when you have the Gmate+ connected, because why have the option when the other device doesn't support it? When I got it, there was no difference in price, it really depends if you can deal with an annoying vibration noise, most of the time I just turn it off, but it is nice to know when it's connected if you can't look at your SGP. I personally don't use mine anymore, but I still love it as a backup, one thing to note is that it is not compatible with 3G speeds, so you'll be using 2G the whole time, and that it uses a standard sim card, not a microsim. Also, the signal is not too great, I sometimes have issues with service unless I take the Gmate out with my phone as I answer or send a text, not sure if there's any way to fix that.
Thanks for all your information. It helped me a lot to decide what to do. As of now im gonna hold off and just see how everything works on my new dumbphone.
Would it at all be possible to port this feature(http://support-us.samsung.com/spsn/detail.jsp?ctg_id=209&sub_ctg_id=&live_id=8) to the galaxy player 5? For me it would be an OK alternative to the Gmate.
Would this be a simple ROM port or would it require more then that?
I would port the ROM myself if i knew it would work, but right now I use my Galaxy for work and and everyday personal stuff and cm10.1 doesnt backup in cwmSso im not going to try until i get more opinions and the feature would be really nice on cm10.1! Any thoughts?

It looks like a healthy alternative to the gmate cause it looks like its been more kept up to date then the Gmate. They have videos of it working on the S4 and the HTC One even

Just wanted to post that I have installed Viper4Android and it works beautifully on my rooted S5. This app is the #1 reason I root.
This app will change the way you think about sound (seriously). Every time I demo the difference to someone by turning it on and off they immediately ask me to install it for them.
Installed using directions by @docnok63, paraphrased below for your convenience. I have only tested this app on my rooted T-mobile S5, and only with spotify (it's the only player I use). Of course you should always backup first and only you are responsible for what you do to your device.
1. Ensure you are rooted. From this point on, grant all superuser requests.
2. Download ViPER4Android FX. Get the latest version under the "Android FX" heading.
3. Extract the 4.x .apk from the zip. If you haven't already, smart-install Busybox from the play store.
4. Move the 4.x .apk to root system/app using a root-friendly file browser of your choice. Reboot to reset permissions.
5. Launch the app (from your app drawer). Grant root to let it install drivers. I've always gone with super audio quality; I suppose it's up to you. It may ask you if it can modify some files to disable power saving...just let it happen. :good: Reboot again.
6. Go straight to settings/sound/music effects (at the bottom) and toggle Viper4Android as default.
7. Open root system/build.prop using a file explorer and text editor with root access. You change three lines of code as follows. Some may already have been changed.
Code:
Ipa.decode=true should read Ipa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
8. Save the file and reboot once more. Open the Viper4Android app and have at the sound settings; play around until you find what works for you (just make sure to check "Enable" :highfive. You can edit the settings as you have music playing. When you get it where you want it, toggle the enable button and see how far you've come.
You can explore the main app thread here for some ideas on customization.
All credit due to @viper520, @zhuhang, and @docnok63.
All I did was paraphrase. Hope this helps someone!
Mine still doesn't work D: followed these instructions exact I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.
EDIT: Does work, just doesn't work in the default Samsung galaxy music app.

I have not been able to get this to work with the stock app on any version of KK but it works fine with Poweramp. Just have all EQ and processors in Poweramp turned off and in Poweramp settings/audio/advanced tweaks make sure everything is unchecked.

WOW...it works here for me. At first it didn't. I looked for updates and it offered v2.3.3.0 Installed that and it's really noticeable with my ear buds. This is with Google music player. I have PowerAmp premium too. Have not tested on that but it for sure works with the latest APK I referenced and it is installed as a system app. One of those build.prop edits was already set while the other two needed to be changed, just an FYI. If you aren't on the latest APK, update. I am on the latest update of Alliance ROM here on my T Mobile S5 variant....fyi.

It's in system folder. You need to use an appropriate method of editing that allows you to change from read only to read write. Also for me you have to be running 2.3.3.0 version of Viper. And finally, at least for me, I set this up and it runs until I also use the app Poweramp. Seems as soon as I use PowerAmp with the equalizer on, it breaks the functionality within 2 seconds of starting any song. If you use the menu function while running the Viper app, look at driver staus which not only shows the version but if you are running a song it will say yes to processing which verifies the app is running. (build prop editor by JRummy Apps in Playstore is free and works great) (Of course Root Explorer is my all time favorite, paid app that has a ton of functions, including editing)
So it didn't work for me, unless deleted the mod and installed everything from scratch as a normal app instead of a system one. To make it work with Poweramp, had to enable " compatible mode", add "music fx" button to "tone/vol" screen and turn it on. Now it works.
Anyone here having trouble with signal after flashing this mod?
Or is it just me

Awesome! Trying this out soon.
Here the sound is much better.
However commands double and triple clicks in the headset no longer work with the Power Amp.
This happened to anyone else?

Sorry for my poor english. What I meant is that my S5 was only rooted and the rest is all as it came from the factory.
But after a while the controls on the headset started to function normally. Thank you.
thanks, what a difference...waow !!
No one get music stuttering when screen off???
Its very annoying.
Hey, I can't get it to stick. It keeps asking to install the driver. My rom is "Project Infinity". I tried to move it to system/app but it says it's read only. I have busy bus installed. I don't know what to do, can someone please help me?
