i am on slim bean rom, i created an ad-hoc network on my laptop to share my internet connection with my android .but the problem is ,my phone cannot detect my newly created network. what am i doing wrong.?
As far as I know Ad-hoc doesn't work with Android . You have to use native AP built in the ROM.

Globe doesn't support mobile tethering even for the iPhone unless you pay them more and activate tethering through one of their supersurf plans. Same with Sun. Not sure with Smart.
Is the phone branded for example I whit three net work.l can't tether with my threr network locked phone. But a can with my genaric htc.

Have you tried using the native portable hotspot function? It's built right into the GS2, and I've used it just fine.
Settings > Wireless and network > Tethering and portable hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings
If that doesn't work for you, you can always root and install WiFi Tether for Root users: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
yes, but the problem is it only share adhoc and it works only to iphone coz iphone can also read adhoc connection, when u tried to connect to other android it doesnt work

Um, he told you to use the NATIVE function, not a third-party app.
Third-party apps are adhoc, native tethering is a proper access point. I use it all the time with my Tab 10.1

Not sure what your looking at. I share my WPA PSK 2 hotspot all the time with all my devices. As above mentioned. Its the native feature.

Please clarify what you are trying to do... Cause it is not really clear to me.
Are you saying you are trying to get a DIFFERENT android phone to connect to your phone when it is functioning as a hotspot? Why would you need do that???
What about laptops? Or other wi-fi capable devices, like a tablet? As I said, when I start a hotspot on MY GS2 the same way I described above, I was able to connect my laptop to it and access the internet just fine, even connecting to my work's VPN.
So the question is, what are you doing, and what is going wrong that ISN'T what you are expecting?
I am using FXP106 CM7. I realize that I cannot connect to my laptop's adhoc. Is there any solution for it?
It is normal in Android. Solution for that is a program called connectify

Jakuburban is correct. Although you need to be running Windows 7 for connectify to run in AP mode and connect with X10 I believe.
Adhoc doesnt work with android..
Use connectify.
I use it all the times
also, check its page for supported wifi cards for hotspot mode.
i'm using a vpn and i try to use some wifi tether apps but i can't browse in my other android phone, i already search some info in net but i can't get an accurate answer in my question. is their any posible way to use wifi tethering android to android and using vpn connection.

Hi guys,
I just upgraded my SGS2 to ICS.
But unfortunately I won't be able to enable the Ad hoc on my device anymore
Previously, I used to use ADB tools to enable it or through Ad Hoc enabler.APK in the marekt but now both ways not wroking
So Is there any Intelligent who can solve this problem out ?
Thanks in advance
Up-Up-Up
unable to detect wireless via ad-hoc
2.3.6 is working fine, but after update to official ics 4.0.3 i also facing with this ad-hoc problems..
intelligent please help!
No one know about it ?
Well try XXLPQ, because im using it and Ad-hoc works here.
I'm using XXLPQ and it doesn't detect any ad hoc networks even in wifi manager
i tried using many modified wpa supplicants specifically made for ics (wpa supplicant ver 0.8.x) but with all of them the wifi won't even start
There is no ad hoc patch for ICS at SGS2.. Just wait

Same problem here, probably a bug
This is no bug... Google wont add ad hoc support the reason is unknown

Getting comments from users of my WiFi Ad-Hoc Enabler app that it indeed no longer works on the SGS2 with ICS. If anyone finds a solution please say so, so I can integrate it in my app for easy Ad Hoc enabling.
I will send u the ad hoc fix if it is avaiable...

Great, awaiting your response.
AD-HOC problems
still waiting for the new wpa_supplicant file for ICS..
Upssssss...
Upssssssssss..
We are all still waiting...
And it's ridiculous that the android does not support the adhoc networks, it's important feature even the old Nokia phones support it, this is make me very mad because I do not have another way to connect to the internet through the phone.
Rollback to 2.3.6 and still waiting for the great news for ad-hoc on ics..
No ad-hoc = no ics
