Recently I've noticed a problem that I most certainly didn't have before. The problem is that the in call volume keeps going down to around 50% with every new call. When I receive or make a call, the in call volume is around 50%, which is not enough for me. So I make it louder to 100% and can talk just fine. Unfortunately, with a new call the volume goes down again to the same default volume around 50%, which means I have to turn the volume up every time I receive or make a call. This is really annoying. I'm absolutely positive that I did not have the problem before. What might cause the problem and what can be done about it?
P.S. Settings >>> Sound >>> Volume - all the sliders are on the right.

Go to Phone -> Call settings -> My Call sound.
You can try this. Or use the extra volume button when calling someone.

I have tried that (both checking and unchecking the option) - the problem remains. The extra volume button is not an option since tapping it every time is even more annoying than increasing the volume with the Volume Up button.

As a last resort, I finally did. It worked. Luckily, I had a two week old nandroid backup, so, hating to restore all the apps and settings manually, I just fell back to that backup. It appears that I did not have the problem in question two weeks ago, so after restoring from the backup I got back all my apps and settings with no in call volume issue. But it is still unclear what caused the problem and how to fix it if it pops up again.
you have to set the volume to 100 in audio settings, doing so will save the settings. also you can get some extra volume by going into dialer call settings and tick "use extra vol for calls"

But "extra volume" icon is not activated for next call and have to re-tap it to enable again. That's bad.

Hello,
Sometimes when I receive call in my HD2 it's don't made any sound, the call is ther but no sound is made. I miss some call because of this. Any sugestions?
Thanks in advance.
I imagine you have changed a setting on the phone, just save your info and do a hard reboot to return it to stock

I all ready try that, but do not work.
Go to Settings->Sound & Display
-Check your profile settings
-Make sure your ringer volume is turned up.
-Make sure you have a ring tone set.
-Check that your ring type is not set to 'Ring once' or 'Vibrate only'
-Turn off the 'quiet ring on pickup option'
-Turn on 'pocket mode'
See if problem persists.
Also, how often does this happen ("sometimes" is a bit vauge) and does it happen only when certain people call you?

Thanks for the tips, but the problem persists.
It happens 2 times in 3 calls.
I think that i have to send the phone to HTC assistence.
Is it the same numbers you are having the problem with?
If so its a setting without doubt.
Try deleting the full phonebook entry for those numbers (write them down if you wish) soft reboot (press the red or yellow rest button under the battery cover) then have them call you again
I had the same issue. The issue was the ROM I was using. Sometimes it did, and sometimes it didn't play my custom ringtone.

The same thing happened to me too a few times. Still dono where the problem is...
Mine did the same, and afte a hard reset, it did not recover. Send to HTC and found out that the speaker is broken. They replaced it under warranty. All is fine again after that
I have a rooted, Liberted HTC Aria. I can set the volume all the way down to vibrate via the rocker, place it on the table, call it from another phone, and the phone will ring.
When I re-check the volume level it is set to the quietest ring, not vibrate.
I have repeated this over and over as I though I was just accidentally hitting the rocker while it was holstered, but that's not the case.
I've tried downloading volume lock. I set the phone to vibrate and test volume lock to see if it works.
It does, I get a message to confirm new volume level, if i don't it stays on vibrate, as indicated by the vibrate icon.
Then you call the phone... The phone rings and the volume is now set to the quietest ring, not vibrate.
Any ideas, this is a huge inconvenience at work?
Thanks.
Don't know how old this thread is, but I will tell you, you are not going crazy.
I have a vibrant that is rooted and custom rom loaded.
I've had the custom rom for 3-4 months now.
I reloaded some crappy rom, and after I did that, no matter what rom i put on it, I get this ringer problem.
So, no, it's really a problem, you're not imaging it.
So far I can only think that the default build.prop has been funked with.
Or, one of the programs that you installed is messing with it.
I think that it more likely is #1 because on fresh install the phone is fine. But upon reloading all my apps (apps only, no data/ system data), the damn phone will funk up and do the ring crap again.
So, try Odin - to stock and from there, flash a brand new rom and restore one by one.
Sorry mate, that's what I've found, it sucks. I hope you found a solution for this. Like I said, I have a Vibrant, so I don't browse the "Aria" forum at all. I found this thread on GOOGLE.
If you find out anything, PLZ PLZ PLZ, - contact me.

Probably you have a case or somehow are pressing the volume all the way down.
Remember either lowering the volume or power button plus silent mode are the quick shortcuts to enable Vibration mode.
Also when a call is received and the phone is upside down can make the ringing on mute.

In my case Timeriffic was automatically reinstalled from Google Play. the default setting was to set the phone to vibrate at 8PM Mon - Thu. All sorted now.

i had the same problem, you can activate or deactivate this option under settings/sound/automatic feedback
Hmm,
Can't seem to find that seting on my phone, so will have to hope that it was because of Timeriffic.

I know this is an old thread, but all of a sudden my phone seems to randomly switch sound on throughout the day, after i put it on vibrate. I wonder if there's a way to enable vibrate only via the notification bar, rather than the volume keys.
In my opinion the volume keys should only control the current volume, rather than the sound "profile" (mute, sound, vibrate).
Anyway i will be doing some looking into why this seems to happen.
1) you have a case which is pressing the Volume button down
2) Try turning off AUTO HAPTIC FEEDBACK
3) try resetting your phone if all else fails

i have same weird vibrating problems also. I normally set my phone to sound mode no vibrate. whenever someone text me it automatically change the mode to sound+vibrate I've been trying anything but to no avail this still persists.
and BTW I'm using GO SMS.
Even i have been facing this problem with various ROMs..what could be the issue? any help?
S3 auto turns to Vibrate mode
Hi,
For last 2 weeks, i am facing a same problem. randomly few times in a day, message default ring tone rang without any message and after a while (may be after few seconds) it turns to Vibrate.
the only thing new happened to my phone is, its board died all of a sudden (bgr[dot]com/2012/12/21/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-hardware-failure-262887/) and the Samsung service center has replaced it with new board. since then i am facing this problem.
I was using the Nova launcher before the repair, and now after the repair using the same Nova launcher.
Any idea? anyone else facing the same issue? btw, i have turned off the haptic feedback as well, restart the phone also, but issue still persists.
any feedback would be highly appreciated, thanks.

Guys, I am facing similar problem and nothing else is working. I think we should compare notes to find out what is the cause of this problem. Tell me what ROM are you running? Custom or Stock. If custom then which one? What 3rd Party apps are you running that can schedule tasks e.g Tasker, Scheduler etc. Have you turned off Haptic feedback and motion under your phone settings?
My Answers:
Custom ROM Yes
Ripper ROM (Love it and big fan)
Haptic Feedback Off
Motion Feature Disabled
3rd Party Apps Yes
Tasker Yes
Scheduler No
Call recording Yes
I have sam problem with NOTE 2.
Every last incoming call set my "default" sound profil .Depend what I have set ( sound, vibration, mute....) at the incoming call moment.
I found out that AVG antivirus is a problem???? I delete AVG and for now ( two days ) all is OK.
Maybe its the auto mute
There is a feature under motion that puts the phone in vibrate/silent when you "turn it down", maybe that is what is causing you problems? My phone was muting itself with no logical reason and deactivating it did the trick, hope it works for you
Hello,
S3 is my first smartphone ever, so please be patient
Since I'm a student, I put my phone on mute during the classes (through the notification bar).
However, it happened to me twice now that accidental touch on volume up hard key took me out of mute. This is of course undesirable... Is there a way to disable this function of volume-up key?
I want to remain muted until I cancel it on notification bar.
Thanks!
bump... can anyone help?
Sad....it remains a big drawback of the android phones that we cant make different profiles for volume like Nokia phones......
I think you can only do this by finding a tone with no sound and setting it for all the alerts manally from sound setting before entering your class room
anyhow this is a good question and hope some devs can desable vol- button for enabling full vol. back
Thanks...
but modifying it manually at the beginning of each class, then again at the end, is not very comfortable.
Perhaps it can be fixed with a mod? something like that:
- clicking volume up if phone is not muted increases the volume, as usual.
- clicking volume up if phone is muted doesn't do anything.
Every time I call someone or someone calls me, the In-Call volume is on max. I will change it during the call to about halfway with the volume rocker on the side. Then if someone calls me again, say an hour later, the In-Call volume is again on max. It's very frustrating because it's a little too loud for me. Any way to change this? Or at least have the change during one call to persist through future calls?
Try adjusting the call volume in the settings then reboot and see what happens.

there doesn't seem to be a call volume setting there. if i go to Settings->Sound->Volumes, there is only volumes for Media, Ringtone, Alarms. is there something i'm missing?
Try 2D Volume
you can change all of your android volume by this app:
2D Volume
with this app you can change all of volume everywhere, specially voice volume, Hope this is helping
