Group Texting - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any chance the native SMS/MMS app will ever get fixed to do group texting. I know there are apps like GoSMS and handcent but I would prefer to use the native Android app.
I am currently stuck using Verizon's Group Texting and and it works better then all the rest of the apps available but it's real fugly!!!
Just hoping someone has some news on this Android issue. There is a very long blog on the Google Android site about this issue and it appears Google is just ignoring it.

To clarify a bit: no, you can't get notifications this way right out of the box with a stock or AOSP-based ROM. But there are apps from the Market that will give you pop-up text notifications. You can use GOSMS as the other posters suggested, but if you don't want to use a different messaging app, there are also apps that will take over the notifications while you continue to use the stock messaging app to read and compose your texts. Search the Market for keywords "SMS notify popup" or similar and you should find what you're looking for.
Along with Go SMS there's also handcent sms which is similar.
If you want exact iphone replica messaging, then try chomp sms. I've been using it from a while and I love it.

[Q] Better way to group message

Does anyone know of a messaging app that lets you text a group of people, and then see their responses all in one thread?
Currently, when I send the same text to a group of people, when they respond, it goes into their individual chat thread history, but I want to see all the responses in one thread...
Thanks!
I think beluga does this iirc, but I'm not sure its still around (got bought by facebook a while back). I could be wrong, as I didn't use it much since most of the people I message won't give up SMS. ...

Group sms on a OAKP ROM

I'm running the latest full throttle cdma from. My question is is there a way to do a group sms ? I have the group in my contacts, but cannot find a way to send a text to that group. This is extremely important for my job. I've already search the forums and haven't found an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind, I decided to just use go SMS. I was just trying to avoid using a third party messenger because the theme was so nice.

Emoji Support w/ Twitter and such

Is there a way to support emoji? Like with Twitter and all? My wife and I have a flipping fun time messaging back and forth when I'm gone and would like to have emoji outside of messaging (which messaging does have emoji). I tried a few apps but none worked or required more downloads (such as GoKeyboard). So any suggestions? I'm running the newest 4.2.1 SlimBean ROM

[Q] Cyanogen Messaging App

I'm currently running the international ARHD 10.1 4.2.2, and i want to find a way to get the CM messaging app working, i would love to have quick reply in the notification drawer. Anyone able to tell me if this is possible? Been out of the Android game way too long.
Idk if the messaging app itself is what gives you quick reply

I have found that the ATT CM 10.1 messaging app has issues with displaying Mms messages. I have since started using textra which was developed has a direct replacement for this app. It offers popup. It is available on the market.

Check out Sliding Messaging. Has many similarities to the stock cm messaging app with a lot more
