[Q] need someone who can help me ! - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

hello guys ! I followed some tutorial and made everything exactly as told, I had recently update to 4.0.4 and now when I did the unlock bootloader, Installing CWM and Rooting for 6.0.B.1.564 firmware and when comming to tutorial number 3 called "Official Firmwares flash by Flashtool" , I downloaded it and there was 2 files which was impossible to drag to the flashtool screen So I skipped it. I found something else on the forum called prerooted system and I flashed it over and now I am back to 2.3.7, did I manage to do something? If you would help me I could pay you for helping me! btw, I am new on this fields, so yeah I am n00b on this :<
thanks in advance,
mtony

you updated to ICS then youve flashed the prerooted 2.3.7 thats why youre back on gingerbread. im assuming you did right on unlocking your bootloader.
you just need to flash any ICS stock firmwares
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
then after flashig, install any custom kernel you like to try,
since your new i want you to try the advanced ics kernel first,
look @ my signature theres a link for advanced ics, also the other kernel.

First, why do people keep posting questions to the dev section?!
Second, use flashtool to revert to stock firmware and start over.
First of all, wrong thread and second, wrong site. Ask in modaco site.
Rom is not using xrevovery03. And in kernel is xrecovery03.
Wondering if you are on baseband 71 and did you flash cm7 kernel by mistake.

Why modaco? The problem is not the ROM, as I'm currently using my phone to post this. The issue only came up after flashing the kernel.

Trips Roms are not compatible with custom kernels as he has stated before. you cant flash a custom kernel unless you have an unlocked bootloader (even then i'm not so sure). it stuffs the Recovery. Trips rom doesnt use Xrec 0.3. as a previous post stated you'll have to restore back to official 2.3.3 and re-root reinstall xrec and reinstall rom.

Hmm ok. So I need to flash the global generic 2.3.3 ftf and then do the downgrade / upgrade method? Then I can reinstall xrec and the rom?

Kernel will work. I tried an it worked. I do not what went wrong.
But use xrecovery03 before you flash kernel. Use flash tool GBready to get xrecovery03. You will reconize it by the logo of Z
woah! Don't start again with flashing 2.3 rom, it's unneccessary! you can manually copy/paste the needed files to the rom with a file manager and set the permissions right. But I would recommend you to unlock your bl, flash dooms stock 2.3.3 kernel for unlocked bl's and then the v04b kernel for locked bl's with recovery.
Why? Simple: using dooms stock 2.3.3 kernel means you can't loose xrecovery again, even if you format system partition and reboot you can enter xercoery again, cause it's included in the kernel. Also you can remove then the xrecovery.tar from your system partition cause it's not needed anymore.

[Q]

I recently bought a Xperia Sola . I unlocked it's bootloader and rooted it with a kernel with CWM recovery. After doing some installation of apps, i did a nandroid backup in CWM and when I rebooted, it stuck in boot loop (Sony Logo). :crying: . I tried to recover from earlier backups but all of those given me md5sum mismatch! error.
I am new to these things and I searched and read here and there. I found that, I have to flash a new ROM by going to CWM recovery. (I can still boot to the recovery). I searched for the Sony stock ROM but haven't find them. My Firmware was 6.0.B.1.184 and I think, it is Great Britain ROM. It has Bengali language though (also chinese input support).
I am a little bit confused about the ROM's also. All think, it contains the set of Applications. My android version was 2.3.7.
I would be glad if you can give me a link to stock 6.0.B.1.184 ROM. Also I don't want to upgrade my Android to IceCreamSandwitch (ICS probably). I have also know that, I have to use flashtool. Is there any alternative of flashtool? probably, CWM can do the job.
Note: I and my brother bought the same mobile set. Can I create a backup of his ROM and use it to flash?
I hope, I will receive a quick response.
Thanks for your helps.
#EDIT:
I have 3 question:
1. If I flash an ICS ROM, will it work with the existing Kernel which is I think GB kernel?
2. Does it matter if I flash a firmware/ROM with other region such as India (I'm in Bangladesh)? Also How could I verify which region My Sola is from?
3. I found a 184 ROM from xperiadev.wordpress.com/flashing/xperia-ftf-firmwares/ for my Sola, but it is from Central Europe? Will it create any problem?
You can use your brothers backup for your phone...
Dont change the name of the backup file as it will give you md5 sum error

Can I? really? I read somewhere that, you should not use other's backup. Did you actually try that?
I haven't tried others backup yet....
But you can give it a try...
Otherwise flash any ftf file for your device ics or gb then it would work fine..

[Q][SOLA]-Some questions about flashing stock ICS .54 from eXperience v.1.1 by Divaks

Hi guys, i've unlocked my bootloader and i've rooted. I flashed eXperience v.1.1 by Divaksh (stock based) and i want to return to stock ics 'cause i want to try cm9.1. Now the questions:
1- Will i have locked bootloader again?
2- Will i lost my root permission?
and the last: can i flash stock ics via CWM?
thank you :good:
Nope. Bootloader is independent of roms & kernels so you wont lose Bootloader unlock
But you'll always lose root if you flash Stock. And if you want to flash with cwm, see if anyone has uploaded a CWM flashable zip for the firmware. Else you need to use Flashtool
Hope it helps
Cheers

So this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030261 would work just wiping and flashing with CWM?
Thanks for your help :fingers-crossed:
Yes I believe that ought to work fine
Enjoy
Cheers
Thanks man but the stock ics flashed by CWM and pc companion said me i had to update the system even if it was already .54 version and any attempt to update failed because of my unlocked bootloader. The same firmware flashed by flashtool didn't need any update and finally allowed my to boot "pure blood" ROM. Thanks anyway :cyclops:

[Q] Totally confused.

Hi guys I am sorry I've been reading a gazillion articles today and I simply got very confused with all this things. All I want to do is install CWM and then install CM10 or 10.1 on my ST15i. Bootloader is already unlocked with official Sony guide and Bootloader code I didn't know if it had to be done before root but I did it anyway. I tried many MANY options including Flashtool, RecoverX and some other things. I do have everything setup but I think I am having problem with my baseband. It's 4.0.2.A.0.84 and I don't see 84 anywhere. Can you please just at list point me on where I can find 84 root instructions or may be downgrade to other baseband cause I do see some older baseband rooting instructions in here.
Thank you very much. I really can use some help.

this is not q and a
here:

though u don't need anything else if u have an unlocked bootloader,
download the rom, and gapps
extract to pc and copy to sd
flash boot.img in fastboot
boot into cwm(u'll have after you flash kernel)
flash zip from sd card, romm and gapps.
Okay this is what I call "From last dying breath" I found this life saving post. I was be able to downgrade to 42 using flashtool 0.9.10.1, then root device with same tool, then use RecoverX to install CWM and ...well then I did backup of my current system and that's it.
Thank you guys for bringing all this knowlege I guess if you search long and hard enough you'll do it cause it's out there. In my case it was just that I didn't see that baseband and android version have nothing to do with each other ...like 4.x.x should be ICS right ? ,,,,no it still showing Android 2.3.x
Anyhow thanks a lot !

Press THANKS if I helped,

the .84 baseband is GB based ...you will need .587 ICS baseband(Baseband 77) for CM 9.1,10,10.1
Upgrade to ICS .587 (there are bunch of ftf here and there )
then follow this instructions
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_smultron
Get the release wither from CM or from FXP ..Both are same usually ...FXP is weekly ...
Root is not needed to flash ROMs with unlock Bootloader ..The fastboot kernel has recovery and is prerooted usually
The problem is .431 and .587 are on ICS bootloaders (Baseband 77)\
and 0.62 and 0.84 is on GB bootloader ..(Baseband 84)
.84 may be newer firmware but it is still GB ..
Upgrade to ICS for CM

[Q] I hate ICS on the XU, I cant root and cant go back to GB :(

I was very happy with the performance of GB on my xperia U but there was no root for GB. I was told that in order to get root I have to update to ICS. So I did via update manager and am on the 6.1..54 firmware. Its horrible, slow and laggy.
I used both methods of rooting, flashtool and Bin4ry's both have failed and dont work. My phone cannot be rooted.
So can anyone tell me how I can root this firmware?
Also can I go back to stock GB? if yes please tell me how.
Thank you

.54 cannot be rooted using binary but theres a method where you have to flash the .10 kernel and then root using binary and flash back the .54 kernel and you will be rooted.......
Search the dev thread for it you will find the kernels........

Does this method require unlocked bootloader? I mean the one involving flashing .10 kernel and then back .54 one. Sorry for the "noobish" question, but I just began to explore the root/flashing aspects of my XGO and the proccess is completely different from my previous samsung phone, so it's like begining from zero point again at knowledge.

No. Flashing stock kernel does not require unlocked bootloader, u can keep it locked. there are plenty of guides available here so dont worry.

Thanks for the reply. Indeed I managed to root, install CWM recovery and flashed my first rom at my XGO.
Another "noobish" question if you can answer is that I backed up my rom before flashing the custom rom, yet in the clockwordmod folder in internal memory now there is nothing in it. Did the flashing erased my back up? So I cannot get my original FW, since I didn't back it up at my pc? I mean I had greek FW branded to a carrier, so if I need to send it to service, how am I supposed to get it back? To be honest I didn't see a such situation coming so I was unprepared. FYI I flashed [FXP210] XperiaPremiuMâ„¢ v4 from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155343. Thanks for your help again!

No i didn't. I still have locked bootloader. that's why i flashed v4 rom for locked bootloader. Yet I may try v5, since it's compatible with LB as well. just i'll have to flash the boot.img through flashtool if I remember correctly from what I read in that thread.
