Battery saver needed.. - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi dev
My razr become power hunger instead power ranger, anybody have the same? Notice after using google now for four days now.. please help..
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app

Yea im running the razr maxx and i could see a significant drain even with the huge battery caused by google now. Id say your best bet is to just un install. Or turn your data off when your not using your phone.

Well I don't quite understand what you mean, but yeah, I wish my phone was Power Ranger. Is the Power Hunger the arch nemesis of a Power Ranger?
Also you mention using Google Now. Considering that isn't 'officially' on the Razr, you can't really complain..

Battery management?

Does anybody know of a good, but free, battery management app that has either no ads or few ads? Preferably it also shows the current battery level in the notification bar. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up going with battery indicator cuz I realized I just needed an app that displayed percentage.

The best application in this situation (in my opinion), would be the Juice Defender.
automateit pro & juice defender beta combined, best combo ever

Battery information

Hi all.. for the past the days I have noticed that the battery usage or the battery information tab (eg. Display 30%, Android OS 25%......) in the settings of my motorola razr doesn't add up to 100%.. It varies between 92% and 102%. All I did was root my phone a week back using Motofail and I unrooted it yesterday using Doomslord unroot. Should I factory rest my phone? Please help!!!
Also does anyone know or have you seen this "battery report.apk" file which is also known as "Cool Down Mode"? It is in your phone internal memory. Do you know what it does. Has anyone installed it and checked what it does?
Thanks I advance!!!

seems to be a software hang. Drain battery completly and charge it without start the phone. This may fix the problem. If not, do a factory reset.
Thanks

Try looking through your sync settings, set them as low as possible and be sure to exit your apps with the back button not hitting home
Edit : you could also use better battery stats

I have my sync settings very low as well.. I use juice defender free version!! And I flashed into another build, from Asiaretail03 to PSHAsiaretail and still have the problem!!
How will Better battery Stats help me?? is there a free version of the app?? If not is there any other way?? will it affect my battery life???

I have the paid version of jd, it seems to make things worse for me in terms of battery life on the RAZR, and the lag in the initiation of the cell radio was very annoying. It was great for the og droid though. On another note, freeze all bloat!, and you may have to go through and change the sync settings on each app that uses network sync individually. I'm hesitate to suggest this because there's so many post claiming it's bad for your battery, while I understand the train of thought, I still question the validity of the advice. So do this at your own risk. Since the os is reporting more than or less than 100% battery my guess is that the os's scale is off. The os shuts down your phone well before your battery gets to zero as a fail safe, and stops taking a charge at 100%. When you flash a new rom, or didn't charge the phone fully before you turned it on when new, or any other number of variables, your battery stats get mucked up. The old school way to retrain was turn off and charge for how ever long it takes to know your fully charged (over night), boot into recovery wipe battery stats, unplug boot up and run the phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out turning back on, then use as normal. I dont advise that method, my advice is to run phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out powering up, run phone normally

Ok I don't want to freeze my bloatware... And I completely drained my battery and charged it till 100 without powering up (twice).. But still have the problem...
Let me try the other method but where will I see the recovery wipe battery stats in the boot menu? ?
Thanks a lot for taking your time..

It is in cwm menu under advanced, if you don't have cwm there is a file in the root system, you'll have to research to find its location, (i cant remember where it is), that holds the battery stats, you can delete it and it does basically the same thing. You might could find an app on the market that will find and delete it for you. Just be careful, do it right, you can make it worse.

You should be fine, just let the phone charge to 100% and be sure not to boot up before it gets there, and by no means charge the phone while draining the battery

I was rooted when I froze the bloatware.. This issue with my phone is there for a week now.. Now I am unrooted.. Thinking of rooting again to wipe the battery stats..I will do that if the problem happens even after charging the phone once more to 100%..

Have you ever considered something as simple as % rounding error? Seems more likely, currently mine shows 101%.
I was also curious, what in the world compelled you to bother to add up the percentages in the first place? ;-)
Peace!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Just to be totally sure, you're having problems with battery life, its not just that your battery usages are off. The percentages are rounded, but shouldn't be off by more than 10%, if so than its a tell of another problem, also if your a medium- heavy user your screen should be the highest percentage, if its android os or system using a large percentage its normally bloatware in your root file system, if it's media, you need to look at the motocast apps, if its cell stand by, check the time with out signal, if you have a large % with out signal, you should 1st check for the most recent radio, 2nd find out where it is you're getting poor signal and keep your phone in airplane mode in that area if possible, if not only turn off/ on data as you need it, your cell radio seaching for towers will drain your battery quick, also, the reason i suggested better battery stats is it can provide a more detailed breakdown of what is using your battery and identify apps that are keeping your phone frome going into a lower power state with wakelocks
A little more info.

Thanks for the info.. The battery percentage ranges from 92-103%... And my highest battery consumer is the Screen followed by Voice calls and Android OS..
I will try getting better battery stats and check but I don't want to buy the app and experience the same problem..
If the battery life is getting affected will it be because of a faulty battery? can I get a replacement because of this?
And yes thanks a lot for spending your time..

I can usually go all day with moderate usage (games/reading on bus, checking internet, etc.) without too much worry about battery life. I heavily rely on Juice Defender and usually turning off wifi unless I need it. I probably should clock it. I'll have to do it once I settle into my new ROM.
very nice

Google Now = Battery Drain?

Has anyone else experienced increased battery drain with Google Now enabled? It seems to make sense that it would since it updates and tracks location in the background. I was just wondering what others have experienced.

well i maybe get a max of about 5 hours on my Razr with the ICS, I cant get the newest update to install on my phone, I've been trying all morning
on ota i had about 2 1/2 days .. thats more than ICS ever had on my phone.
:good:
When I used US Verizon JB, the battery last longer than EU Vodafone's. I would have preferred to use the Vodafone version so I don't have to see the CID error every boot but battery life is more important.
Battery life was awful, phone wouldn't sleep, so I performed factory reset which solved the issue. Now battery life is perhaps even slightly better that it was with ICS, but I lost root.
Worse. MUCH worse.
My wife's fully stock RAZR MAXX ICS used to be around 75% or so after a day of moderate use. After the JB OTA update, she is seeing battery levels around 40% or so, even on days o f light use.
And, we are not alone. I have other friends experiencing the same problem.
Has anyone identified the source of the problem?
It was great in ics but in jb it was improved a lot.
