Has anyone noticed a difference with battery between the Xmas leak and the recent OTA? Seems like the battery life on my device isn't as good. This is after an SBF and cache wipes.
Just curious on everyone else's experience.

well i maybe get a max of about 5 hours on my Razr with the ICS, I cant get the newest update to install on my phone, I've been trying all morning
on ota i had about 2 1/2 days .. thats more than ICS ever had on my phone.
:good:
When I used US Verizon JB, the battery last longer than EU Vodafone's. I would have preferred to use the Vodafone version so I don't have to see the CID error every boot but battery life is more important.
Battery life was awful, phone wouldn't sleep, so I performed factory reset which solved the issue. Now battery life is perhaps even slightly better that it was with ICS, but I lost root.
Worse. MUCH worse.
My wife's fully stock RAZR MAXX ICS used to be around 75% or so after a day of moderate use. After the JB OTA update, she is seeing battery levels around 40% or so, even on days o f light use.
And, we are not alone. I have other friends experiencing the same problem.
Has anyone identified the source of the problem?
It was great in ics but in jb it was improved a lot.

I flashed the newest update (2.3.4) this last weekend and although its been great with battery life, I cant seem to get the actual reporting to settle in.
When I take it off the charger its reporting 100%, and throughout
the day it obviously drains the battery. The problem is when I reboot the phone, it starts back up reporting 10-20% higher battery life then when I shut it down. So in reality, I have more battery life left then whats being reported.
I charged to 100% and wiped battery stats using bootstrap. Then drained the battery all the way, and charged all the way back to a full charge.
Can you guys think of anything else that may fix this issue?

I noticed this as well, I thought it was my Mugen Power battery giving false reports but it looks like it isn't the case..
I just don't reboot as often now, can't say I've noticed any problems other than that. My battery life has been excellent!

Standard battery? Wow
I have never seen a number higher than 14hrs for me. But then again I am CONSTANTLY on my phone.
I want an extended battery but I like my otterbox to much. So I just carry a spare in my wallet.

Indeed it will, anything built from the 2.3.4 update will have the bug unless devs find a way to properly fix it.
i hope a fix comes soon but it pry won't be from motorola. i don't see them sending out an update just for one issue unless they have some other issues to fix that i haven't heard about yet. hopefully sooner than later
I have this also, as well as random reboots.
2.3.4 didn't really do much for me, the only real difference I notice were that random reboots now happen every 2 or 3 days instead of every day.
ya that's not good, the update was supposed to stop that. they've been doing these updates and creating the OS for all these devices for so long now id think they would have it pretty much down by now. maybe they need to do more testing before releases...idk...

hey guys simple question, I flashed eclipse ROM v2.1 and I love it so far except one thing, the battery life sux, I mean when I was stock 2.3.4 rooted I froze a bunch of apps and my battery life was pretty impressive. So I can only relate this to that eclipse is performance based and needs a little more battery? So basically is their a method to getting more battery life or am I stuck.

Have you added any modifications since you flashed Eclipse? Have you added a significant amount of widgets or apps that run in the background? How has your brightness level and usage of device been (more or less than before?)
A majority of the people (myself included) feel that eclipse is great on battery. I use my phone constantly with the brightness on full and the second core script and the battery life is totally fine.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Did you calibrate battery? Also battery life for what, stand-by or usage? Stand-by I can get 2 says easily with just texting and calls. A normal usage, maybe 5 - 6 hours and I can even kill it in less then an hour If need be.

My battery life was a little less with Eclipse than on stock, too. CM7 batter life is even worse but still very acceptable. On stock I would easily get 2 days and some change. With Eclipse I'd get a little over a day, and CM7 a little less. What makes me wonder if being on a better ROM makes us use our phones more because it works so much better vs. stock. I can't stand my phone on stock so I usually don't mess with it.
No my friend everything has been pretty much left alone. I use the performance monitor for shutting down background apps, and have even froze the social media apps(twitter, fb,Skype). Huh

I would be more apt to say the drain was the norm high drain that the first couple days after flashing any ROM sees, yhe "recal" just wipes the stats of the battery doesn't change the amount of power you have or use
from my X2 roaming the north
Yea ur probably right about the high drain after flash because it seems the longer I'm on this ROM the better the battery is performing

I can usually go all day with moderate usage (games/reading on bus, checking internet, etc.) without too much worry about battery life. I heavily rely on Juice Defender and usually turning off wifi unless I need it. I probably should clock it. I'll have to do it once I settle into my new ROM.

From my experience with a XT910 loaded with XT912 JB kernel+rom, battery life is at least %40 better and it doesn't have battery drain issues. I can surf the web over 3g without fear
I think JB brought us back to GB battery consumption. With ICS it seemed to drop some. Have not experimented with leaving data on all of the time though.

I bought motorola razr maxx then update OTA to ICS and used for about 2 days. I feel my phone getting hotter while use for few minute. The Back case get warm and screen getting hot while i put on my cheek like to make a call. I check battery temp is about 36-38 celcius. Phone get normal again quickly when not use for a moment. Is it normal? If not i will return back to the store
I have charge this phone for the first time while phone off until full. I get about 1 day with not often use, about 8 hour phone idle but connected to wifi. I charge again while phone off till full again and i use until now, i get 12 hour 40 minutes with 40% battery connect to 3G. Is it normal or its not quite longer battery life for motorola razr maxx.

latest ICS is stable, all right. but JB is a lot faster and battery friendly (soak=test version, in verizon case official update)
I strongly suggest that after you get used with the phone, you move to JB update
