Razr Maxx getting hotter - Motorola Droid RAZR

I bought motorola razr maxx then update OTA to ICS and used for about 2 days. I feel my phone getting hotter while use for few minute. The Back case get warm and screen getting hot while i put on my cheek like to make a call. I check battery temp is about 36-38 celcius. Phone get normal again quickly when not use for a moment. Is it normal? If not i will return back to the store
I have charge this phone for the first time while phone off until full. I get about 1 day with not often use, about 8 hour phone idle but connected to wifi. I charge again while phone off till full again and i use until now, i get 12 hour 40 minutes with 40% battery connect to 3G. Is it normal or its not quite longer battery life for motorola razr maxx.

My og razr lasts longer with heavy use, i think its not normal that yours lasts less... maybe do a full wipe factory reset and that should fix any issues..

I like to use stock ROM coz network coverage better with stock ICS rather than other android phone I used. Could you give list of unnecessary system app that safe to remove? i'm afraid if I remove important system app that can make my phone unstable

there is a list with every safe system app you can freeze, and it is in the android development section. you will find it

Check if the signal is bad in your place. Plus max brightness on AMOLE screen tends to get hot.

signal is good and I use automatic brightness. I didn't try to Full Wipe, i try to OTA to ICS after first charge complete. Now i would to do cycle battery for 3 times. After that i will full wipe and i hope everything will fine.
what is SOAK? this is for Jelly Bean right? coz i thing ICS has been stable

latest ICS is stable, all right. but JB is a lot faster and battery friendly (soak=test version, in verizon case official update)
I strongly suggest that after you get used with the phone, you move to JB update
btw using latest stock verizon JB, my phone tends to get hotter. but not the case with some custom rom running the same leak

i'm use non DROID device and i'm in indonesia so it would be Asia version. I dont know my phone will get JB update or not, there are lot of speculation that only Europe version will get JB. Maybe i will try install with JB official Europe with CID modification but now i'm wait for JB Official for my country. i guess some motoblur application make CPU work hard although i dont add account to motoblur

[Q] Battery Life on P3 Rooted GB

Hi guys,
Has anyone else been experiencing less than satisfactory battery life upon installing the GB update? This morning after I took my unit off of its charging dock it was fine. An hour later in the office (with no incoming calls or other usage by me) and the damn thing dropped to 80%!! That has never happened before. Is there an add-in or something to counteract this drainage?
HELP.
TIA
The "Soak Testers" have been warned that there is a lot of syncing that goes on the first day of a build, and since these are all totally clean installs, the battery info could be off. Wait a couple days and see what happens.
I had the same issues. I calibrated the battery this morning on a full charge and it is much better.

Been on the stock release since Friday & my battery has steadily improved. Im going on 14hrs off the charger with 20% left. This is better than my fascinate on cm7.
Edit: sorry, just saw this was for the prerooted release.

I have actually seen a boost in battery life. While i was on 2.2 I did all that i could to get through 3/4 of a day on a full charge. Now, with similar usage, I have been going to bed with 50% battery remaining.
On the topic of battery life, I have been playing around with Juice Defender Plus. Essentially it turns off my 3G and wifi radios when my screen is off. Does anyone know if that constant turning on and off of the radios uses more battery than if i just leave them on?
I bet I have at least 20 things I froze on titanium backup..
so sad all this **** is on this phone

When i got the X2 I would get the low battery alarm between 4 and 5 pm under moderate use on average. I purchased the BH6X battery, which allowed me to get to the end of the day with 30 - 40 % usually. Since the update, I'm back to gettting the low battery notification by dinner time. I reset my battery stats yesterday, hopefully we'll see an improvement in the next couple days.
Usage: 40% screen, 30% phone idle, 7% cell standby...
I ordered that battery last night, should be interesting

P3 didn't modify how the phone handles battery life, people have this issue on both versions, I read another post that said if there is any remnants of 2.2.2 on the phone it may be causing this, I think that is why they recommend you sbf, factory reset, wipe all caches, then update, if you have the time/ energy try it and let us know how it works.

Battery information

Hi all.. for the past the days I have noticed that the battery usage or the battery information tab (eg. Display 30%, Android OS 25%......) in the settings of my motorola razr doesn't add up to 100%.. It varies between 92% and 102%. All I did was root my phone a week back using Motofail and I unrooted it yesterday using Doomslord unroot. Should I factory rest my phone? Please help!!!
Also does anyone know or have you seen this "battery report.apk" file which is also known as "Cool Down Mode"? It is in your phone internal memory. Do you know what it does. Has anyone installed it and checked what it does?
Thanks I advance!!!

I have the paid version of jd, it seems to make things worse for me in terms of battery life on the RAZR, and the lag in the initiation of the cell radio was very annoying. It was great for the og droid though. On another note, freeze all bloat!, and you may have to go through and change the sync settings on each app that uses network sync individually. I'm hesitate to suggest this because there's so many post claiming it's bad for your battery, while I understand the train of thought, I still question the validity of the advice. So do this at your own risk. Since the os is reporting more than or less than 100% battery my guess is that the os's scale is off. The os shuts down your phone well before your battery gets to zero as a fail safe, and stops taking a charge at 100%. When you flash a new rom, or didn't charge the phone fully before you turned it on when new, or any other number of variables, your battery stats get mucked up. The old school way to retrain was turn off and charge for how ever long it takes to know your fully charged (over night), boot into recovery wipe battery stats, unplug boot up and run the phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out turning back on, then use as normal. I dont advise that method, my advice is to run phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out powering up, run phone normally

It is in cwm menu under advanced, if you don't have cwm there is a file in the root system, you'll have to research to find its location, (i cant remember where it is), that holds the battery stats, you can delete it and it does basically the same thing. You might could find an app on the market that will find and delete it for you. Just be careful, do it right, you can make it worse.

Have you ever considered something as simple as % rounding error? Seems more likely, currently mine shows 101%.
I was also curious, what in the world compelled you to bother to add up the percentages in the first place? ;-)
Peace!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Just to be totally sure, you're having problems with battery life, its not just that your battery usages are off. The percentages are rounded, but shouldn't be off by more than 10%, if so than its a tell of another problem, also if your a medium- heavy user your screen should be the highest percentage, if its android os or system using a large percentage its normally bloatware in your root file system, if it's media, you need to look at the motocast apps, if its cell stand by, check the time with out signal, if you have a large % with out signal, you should 1st check for the most recent radio, 2nd find out where it is you're getting poor signal and keep your phone in airplane mode in that area if possible, if not only turn off/ on data as you need it, your cell radio seaching for towers will drain your battery quick, also, the reason i suggested better battery stats is it can provide a more detailed breakdown of what is using your battery and identify apps that are keeping your phone frome going into a lower power state with wakelocks

I will try getting better battery stats and check but I don't want to buy the app and experience the same problem..
If the battery life is getting affected will it be because of a faulty battery? can I get a replacement because of this?

I do felt an improvement, I usually leave my phone on 2g only for chatting, and when I need to browse or download something I switch it to 3g, which may mean that in 2g the change is quite big if you ask me, otherwise (by using the 3g mainly in browsing and or gamming) you wont notice that big of a difference.

Battery drain is not a little worse. It is significantly worse, using all the same settings on JB as I did with ICS. I don't personally consider turning off LTE a fix, as a lot of us, including myself, bought the phone for LTE, waited ages for Sprint to actually get the towers functioning, and now, I have to disable it? It just started working in LA Metro consistently, 1-2 weeks ago. Unacceptable.
Now, we all get to wait for months for the next update, which will fix 5 things and break 10?
Watch... The 4.2 update will be pushed out OTA as soon as the new EVO is released, which makes this EVO look lik an abacus.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I've been using Stock rooted deodexed, Stock with goodies and SuperJELLY roms, and I feel the battery as good as before the JB update, or maybe better
Mines definitely worse. I have no numbers or data to back that up with, except that before the update my phone would sleep for hours with very little drain. Now it drains several percent every hour while sleeping. And yes, it is sleeping. Generally speaking I'm unhappy with this update and wish I would've remained on ics.

My battery was losing about 10%per hour whereas before the update it was about 6%. I did a factory reset last night so I'm hoping that will help. Incidently, after I did this I noticed that I was able to assign hepatic feedback for the capacitive buttons (it was grayed out after the update) and the setting toggles are now blue. So the reset must have fixed some glitches.

I've also noticed a significant drop. I'm completely stock. Not rooted. I put off rooting because I had no issues with this device. It did everything I wanted it to. But since the update I've noticed my battery life isn't what it used to be. I thought i was alone in this until I saw this thread.

well i maybe get a max of about 5 hours on my Razr with the ICS, I cant get the newest update to install on my phone, I've been trying all morning
on ota i had about 2 1/2 days .. thats more than ICS ever had on my phone.
:good:
When I used US Verizon JB, the battery last longer than EU Vodafone's. I would have preferred to use the Vodafone version so I don't have to see the CID error every boot but battery life is more important.
Battery life was awful, phone wouldn't sleep, so I performed factory reset which solved the issue. Now battery life is perhaps even slightly better that it was with ICS, but I lost root.
Worse. MUCH worse.
My wife's fully stock RAZR MAXX ICS used to be around 75% or so after a day of moderate use. After the JB OTA update, she is seeing battery levels around 40% or so, even on days o f light use.
And, we are not alone. I have other friends experiencing the same problem.
Has anyone identified the source of the problem?
It was great in ics but in jb it was improved a lot.
