I was rooted, but took the OTA and lost root. My battery has taken a hit as well. I'm doing everything the same and have set it up as I had it with ICS. I didn't even reinstall all my apps yet, I'm pretty much clean save for a few daily apps.

My battery seems to drop slightly faster than before OTA. Still can last 10-12 hours with moderate use. I tend to plug in now if I plan energy intense things like playing videos.
Mine's pretty much the same as before
Slight drop but the performance gain oyt weighs the drop. Try mean bean 0.5

Battery drain is not a little worse. It is significantly worse, using all the same settings on JB as I did with ICS. I don't personally consider turning off LTE a fix, as a lot of us, including myself, bought the phone for LTE, waited ages for Sprint to actually get the towers functioning, and now, I have to disable it? It just started working in LA Metro consistently, 1-2 weeks ago. Unacceptable.
Now, we all get to wait for months for the next update, which will fix 5 things and break 10?
Watch... The 4.2 update will be pushed out OTA as soon as the new EVO is released, which makes this EVO look lik an abacus.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I've been using Stock rooted deodexed, Stock with goodies and SuperJELLY roms, and I feel the battery as good as before the JB update, or maybe better
Mines definitely worse. I have no numbers or data to back that up with, except that before the update my phone would sleep for hours with very little drain. Now it drains several percent every hour while sleeping. And yes, it is sleeping. Generally speaking I'm unhappy with this update and wish I would've remained on ics.

My battery was losing about 10%per hour whereas before the update it was about 6%. I did a factory reset last night so I'm hoping that will help. Incidently, after I did this I noticed that I was able to assign hepatic feedback for the capacitive buttons (it was grayed out after the update) and the setting toggles are now blue. So the reset must have fixed some glitches.

I'm waiting on the RUU to get a full factory wipe and hopefully that cleans things and get's it all working fine.
I've also noticed a significant drop. I'm completely stock. Not rooted. I put off rooting because I had no issues with this device. It did everything I wanted it to. But since the update I've noticed my battery life isn't what it used to be. I thought i was alone in this until I saw this thread.

I'm not sure if that's really that unexpected.
It shows the battery going down, yes, but it also shows the phone was awake and the screen on almost that entire time.
If I played a game on mine, with the screen on the entire time, my battery would go down quickly as well.

If that's all you were doing, then you've got some app keeping your phone awake and the screen on.
Fresh install though of vipers 1.2 Rom as apps did not have a chance to install yet from back up. Anyone know if the lte will drain the battery even quicker or is it the same as the 3g since its now integrated?

I still think it's because the screen was on that entire time. Check to see if you have it set to auto brightness.
As far as lte/cdma setting, I have not seen any difference in battery life when leaving lte on.
Yea I had auto brightness on was that the cause of it?

Obvious total noob here. I've read all the thunderbolt reference material here and have followed a couple of tutorials on how to root my thunderbolt, but I keep finding broken mirrors. I just keep finding dead ends. Can someone point me to a current root method for this device. My goal is to try the leaked ICS rom. Thanks.
The closest I got was with revolution.
It did see my device and I was on the last step but it seemed like my rom was not compatible. There was a nice video and followed all the steps.

Welcome to the rooted club! I just joined this week myself.
I hadn't seen the all in one tool but I think I'll snag it. Revolutionary worked great for me. The only thing I had to do was temp root since I was running the .19 ROM. It was smooth sailing after that.
I'm running SkyRaider 1.3 now. I'll probably flash to ICS next month after playing with SR for a bit.
What has SR been like for you?

So far I'm digging it. It's been considerably faster and seemingly more reliable than stock. The past two years have been hateful and I wish I would have rooted a long time ago.
I'm still trying to figure out what things have changed (like what new options I have and where to find some things) but it's been a fairly easy ride. I did have to flash twice to get it to work but now it seems to be solid.

I just started using the thunderbolt and is this battery performance is terrible. I'm not going to make a full day at work. If you want to keep 4G on do you have to use a extended battery.

Sent from my ThunderBolt using xda app-developers app
Sounds like a battery. I typically charge overnight and I'm good from about 7-4. Then I charge on the 30 min drive home and I'm good until the nightly charge. I've never seen exceptional battery life even with JuiceDefender. Right now it's bad but not quite like yours. I was on a third-party battery, though. I just swapped to the HTC battery and I'll see how it is. I think I'm going to turn JD off as well to see how SkyRaider managers on its own.

This was typical for me.
I recommend turning off 4G. It's not really useful anyways unless you're trying to download something. Calibrate the battery also. Turn down your screen brightness and backlight timing. Also adjust how often accounts sync. Slow your CPU speeds.
You should be set after that.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Yeah, I only use 4G if I'm doing file transfers or tethering. I need to look at underclocking. How often do you sync? I have a number of accounts that I check every 15 min. I could probably increase that to 30.

Some of these are apps you can change within the apps settings, such as Facebook. I usually sign on before it syncs anyways.
Definitely checks your social apps and change the update intervals. It's basically the same thing.

I unplugged at 7:30 and it's almost 4pm now. On 3G with some forum browsing and regular email checking I'm at 38%. So if you were dropping to 14% I'd definitely try a new battery. This is with JuiceDefender disabled as well.
7:25pm Update
I finally hit 14% 12 hours after disconnecting from the AC charger. I guess that's not too bad.

You need to realize the stock battery is only 1450. So very small for a 4g phone. I have found juice defender only made my wallet lighter. You might want to look in to an aosp ROM as it gives you better battery life. I personally disable auto sync and turn off GPS. Also while I am at work I disable data as SMS and MMS doesn't come over mobile data part. In the end some people carries more than one battery on them if they won't be in a place they can charge.

latest ICS is stable, all right. but JB is a lot faster and battery friendly (soak=test version, in verizon case official update)
I strongly suggest that after you get used with the phone, you move to JB update

Hello, all, since I've had my Note 2 I've been incredibly impressed with the battery live, much better than other droids I've owned. Within the last two weeks or so, however, I've seen a dramatic drop in battery life. Where I used to be able to last a day and a half without charging, The phone is now not capable of lasting through the day. There hasn't been any real change in my usage patterns, but I am constantly trying new apps, so I figured that one of the new ones must be the culprit. The stock battery stats indicated that Android System was consuming about 41 percent of the battery, which based on previous readings and having owned other droids seemed much too high. I downloaded Battery Stats Plus, which indicated hat the rogue app was wssyncmldm, consuming that same 41 percent. I wasn't familiar with this app, but google revealed that it manages ota updates? I tried rebooting the phone, and went back to Battery Stats Plus, which now indicated that same 41 percent, but named the app "Factory Test." I let the phone charge overnight to a full 100, then checking again today, I'm seeing similar numbers. Today Factory Test is listed at about 33 percent. Both apps are active in application manager, and reappear as soon as I force close them. Neither can be disabled on my stock, non-rooted note 2. I've not tried the factory reset just yet, was hoping to avoid that, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions.
Thanks so much, all!!!

I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'll do my best.
Let's start with the obvious things
1. Try uninstalling any apps that you recently installed
2. In application manager go under all and look for the "wssyncmldm" culprit. I don't have it in my application manager but I have one that is very close in name
3. Have you recently installed any OTAs?
4. Are you rooted by any chance?
5. When I updated to the 4.1.2 update, I had a similar battery issue. I just ended up backing up all my apps with "Helium" (No root required if you plug it into a pc with some directions) and just did a factory in settings. It fixed the battery issue for me, though I never looked into it to see if it was this same culprit.
I hope I can help in some way, I'll try my best though!
