I'm trying to get my mesmerize into diag mode while running cm7. I'm familiar with the method on other Galaxy S phones, but on this one /sys/class/sec has a different setup. I'd rather not have to flash touchwiz. It is a mesmerize but it's running the fascinate's cm7.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks yal!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

brother if i were adb savvy i'd tell you exactly what to type to fix this. but i'm not. :/ it does, however, sound like you'll need to use adb to fix this. might be wrong tho. i'm sure someone will come along who knows for sure.

In my experience, certain ROMS won't boot into recovery. Not sure why. You can always use ODIN and PIT to recover to stock, then re-root and install a custom ROM again. I was never able to boot into recovery on AOSPISH 1.1 Always had to ODIN and PIT. Good Luck, hope it works out for you.
Hey all. I am having trouble finding a Rom that will work on my Fascinate. I have ROM Manager and all the options I am getting from that are for builds that are different than mine. I tried several that were not labeled with a build and they all failed. I am using Clockwork Mod recovery. As it finishes the restart and begins applying the Rom it says that files failed to initialize. Operation aborted. Here are my phone details:
Firmware: 2.2.1 Froyo
Base band: S:i500.04 V.EC01
Kernel:2.6.32.9
Build:SCH-I500.ED03.
Any suggestions on a Rom and kernel (non-voodoo please) that will work with my phone? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to flash via Odin to accomplish this? I would rather use Clockwork Mod if possible. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Please excuse my ignorance as I am pretty new at this rooting stuff but learn a bit more everyday. Thanks again.
1. ROM manager is a big no-no for the fascinate.
2. You probably need to install a newer CWM via odin.
3. I am using ComRom2.1 w/ OTB 1/6 kernal (voodoo) but all you have to do is disable voodoo in the CWM settings.
4. Not sure why you don't want a voodoo kernal.

Scroll though that thread. It has all the current roms and kernals and even CWM versions.
I have looked through a few threads but I am still unsure of where I need to go/what to do.
I evidently removed the Webtop partition when changing roms, or something of that sort. I am currently running HomeBase the Cronic Blue version. With the sale of the lapdocks, I picked one up and changed from CM7 to the HomeBase.
When I plug my phone into the lapdock, it just clones the screen and nothing else. I believe in the HomeBase thread itself, someone said I needed to reinstall the webtop.
So my question then is (if not obvious by now) how do I go about doing that? Looking through some webtop hacks and threads of that sort confused me a bit more. Most of those seem to require having it previously installed and then those modify it? Or am i looking at that completely wrong?
Guide, links to the correct threads, or anything that can get me going in the right direction would be very much appreciated.
You can install just the webtop with the fruitcake webtop addon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
Make sure you get the one for your Rom 1.8.3, 2.3.4, or 2.3.5
Thank you very much! That is even a thread I looked at but wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. Just flashed the Webtop addon for 2.3.4 and it worked first go. Very much appreciated.
Hello there.
My cousin sports a Telus Galaxy S Fascinate. Yesterday he was trying to root it (novice at just about everything you can think of) and he managed to brick it. To the point that my jig was needed.
Now I'm trying to restore it and flash on ICS AOKP, however I've hit a bit of a snag. I've been following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923712 to start it back up and go from there. However in step 1, all the stock files come from megaupload
...And everywhere else I've looked uses the same link
If someone by chance knows another location where I can get the stock files (I have odin and other shenanigans from my captivate) because once I have those I can go from there.
I searched, but probably in the wrong places
Thanks
...On a completely unrelated side note, really makes one appreciate that the Rogers Captivate is the same as the AT&T Captivate.
I'm on a milestone x2 with paranoid android installed and i've decided to go back to stock. How exactly do i install this 2.3.6 nandroid back up http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542456 ? The instructions on the site, from what i gather, aren't for my model phone. i've tried a few different methods and can't seem to get it to work; mainly installing as rom from cm7 recovery. can it be installed from cm7 recovery? i'd really like to not have to sbf on account of how much of a pain in the ass it is.
