Recently I upgraded to cyanogenmod 9 from 7.2 and noticed that the phone was not detecting the GSM phone network. Then using clockworkmod I installed another modem and the phone used to detect the network. But the phone used to lose network on restarting and again I install another modem and it starts working again. My phone had no issues in 7.2 and now I have reverted back to 7.2. Can someone help me on why this is happening. Thanks for your help.
Try different modems

Have you done a factory reset before updating CM7.2 to CM9.1?

I did try various modems but on a restart I would lose network again. This started happening only after upgrade. After restoring the backup to 7.2 the problem dissappeared

Factory reset after changing Android version is necessary.
On CM7.2, do 3-wipe-combo (/system, /cache, /data)
Flash CM9.1 and reboot.
There is no need to wipe data after flashing.
Upgraded to cyan 9.1 and did a factory reset. Still experiencing the problem. I am trying out the various modems with mixed results.
My doubt is if a particular modem is working, why does the signal drop completely on restart?

Meh, could've been anything. Since it is working now, I suggest you just leave it. Also, post this kind of thing in the general section.
no need to be sarcastic about the wrong section..
but is it that i need to change the firmware or something?
can u point me to a solution or a bug or something..
For one factory reset fixed it means you know what you did that crashed your phone.
Second, get rid of lpq and flash something newer, but with full wipe before and after.
User dial code to wipe, or better cwm format cache data system dalvik.
ok please suggest me something new to flash...
all pointers are welcome

I recently installed ParanoidAndroid 1.6 and got no sound + microphone when calling/called, is this a common problem or did i do something wrong?
i did format data and cache and still got that problem... is there a solution to this problem?
Make sure you're on modem BLFB or newer.
Older modems are NOT compatible with Cyanogenmod.

Flash your original modem .
Did you full wipe before reverting to ICS .

Check your APN settings before you go flashing any modems. Google for your provider's defaults if you aren't sure.
Me too with French carrier.
ICS modem are compatible with JB rom? i'm not sure...

No, you will need a matching version.ICS for ICS and JB for JB.
Thank.

It is really important, that you made a clean install. Wipe everything including system, data, etc.
This was my reason for bad signal etc.
If something is left from old firmwares....you know what I mean
i know, i have wiped everything, but same problem, Maybe LH8 modem is different.
i think i come back on LH1.
Did you make a backup before flashing?
Yes with go backup. Why? I'm in LH1, and i have the same problem. You think it's my backup?
Edit : no, internet work, just my phone change all the time H+->3g->H. But in LH7, the phone take most time to change in H+, now, in LH1, when i'm using internet my phone change immediatly network in H+. It's weird.
I don't understand why my phone doesn't stay in H+ alla time, i have full bar of network.
Sorry i'm french if you don't understand what i'm saying.

How can i find out what my original modem is?
Also, how can i do a full wipe? i normally just do the wipe in CWM recovery
I was switching my phone off and then on again when suddenly all the icons and customization I made went back to factory default. My installed apps are still there but they will crash once I open them.
Is there any way to find out what is the issue and how to resolve this? My phone is rooted by the way but I have been using for a year with no problems.
Thanks!

Is there a guide for wipe/reset? Does this mean the phone will go back to the factory 'unrooted' state?
Any help is appreciated as I don't want to mess things up further, thank you!
If you fullwipe you will lose all data on your phone exept for internal or external sd. Also this will not affect root.
This is safe exept if you're running 4.0.4, than you first have to flash a custom kernel who has the brickbug patched.

download neatrom lite 4.7.zip and format data/system/preload/cache partitions in recovery. and flash the neatrom zip from recovery and reboot. it includes modem, kernel and rom.
http://d-h.st/UIK here is the link.
my two cents

Hi Fractrox,
Did you do a factory reset after flashing CM rom? If yes, try adding the APNs again under
Settings-> More-> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names, followed by a reboot.
For downgrading , you can find stock rom from sammobile for s2. The latest released is 4.1.2.
Check your location and flash the one for your country so that you get the correct modem file which will help fixing the 3G connection issues.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Maddy
i was going to say flash a stock rom via odin, but he said he has had no luck with odin?
and he says he is running cm10.1 already so i know he has cwm, thats why i said neatrom lite...as its less bloated and is rooted, with philz kernel etc,

i have downgraded from cm10.1 to neatrom many times.
good luck.
just remember to format system/preload/cache and data..and then flash neatrom lite from your sd card. let me know if you need any more help.
i'll be on xda for about another hour, then i have to go.
Didn't work. I downgraded but there was no 3G or ROM only kernel. and why does 3G works with stock ROM as the other guy said?
