[Q] {URGENT} Download mode problem!! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI,
I have Samsung S3 i tried to upgrade it to the latest firmware via Odin and while it was in processing my laptop froze so i restarted it and now when i get my phone into download mode i get those information:
Product name:
Custom Binary Download: NO
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
as u can see the product name is "empty"
I really need your help! please...
Thanks

Have you tried to reflash with odin?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

The main thing is you can get into download mode still, like previous post said reflash on a reliable laptop

Reflash with odin. If still problem, remove/replace. battery and Reflash. I think it ll work...

Thanks alot for your help i will try now and give u the results...

still the same:crying::crying::crying:
this is what i get

<ID:0/006> Re-Partition operation failed.

Start odin, put your rom on pda, leave everything unchanged, make sure that repartition button is not enabled, start your phone in download mode, and wait until you see in odin message "added" , than click start. I wish you luck.

please see this

re-partition box should be empty and try changing usb port. do not use usb 3.0 port if you have. good luck.

I'm a bit of a Noob but here's what I would try - go to sammobile.com and find the latest official ROM for your phone/area. Download it to laptop. Start Odin. Put phone into Download mode then connect it. Click PDA and find the download file and flash it.
The official file should have all you need, but if you did this previous with PIT clicked you will need to ask someone more experienced than me - I haven't had any experience with that.
Another thing you might try is DL Revolution ROM (search for ARHD 9) and follow the Superwipe instructions to get rid of all the previous possible crap. I noticed when I used it there was all kinds of format-type stuff happening as the ROM installed.

If flashing with repartition failed after first try and now your nand is improperly partitioned or not partitioned at all, than you must now thick repartition while flashing by Odin because in other case it will not even start nand write.
But to make it properly you need Rom with separate parts (3 file firmware: PDA, PHONE, CSC) and proper .pit file for mapping new partition structure to flash it.
I can give you a link for such firmware but only for XEO region. If you need another one you must find it yourself.
Rom:
https://hotfile.com/dl/158814567/30ec3bc/GT-I9300_XEO_I9300XXALEF_I9300OXFALEA_I9300XXLEF.rar.html
Proper pit for above firmware:
https://hotfile.com/dl/162097667/e5b3f90/mx.zip.html
Flash with those probably will be successful, but if your nand partition information was erased than there is a risk of data loss on efs partition. But this will be your future problem.
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator

I think op need to use a proper pit file along with some stock odin rom to resolve this issue
《spilled from dragon jellybean rom》

And run ODIN as administrator.
My first NAND write failed win W7.
I retried it it worked (but as an Admin)

I still have the same problem even when i run odin as an administrator
still got that pit partition error!!

SG S3 won't boot

Guys
I flashed a ROM from Spain using Odin (I9300XXDLIH, 4.2.1 from Samfirmware) into my S3 (GT-I9300 bought in Brazil) and it works by 1 month. Then my phone starts to crash or boot by itself and finally it stop boot into Samsung screen.
I have access to Download screen, but I have NO access to recovery screen.
Now, I tried to flash a new ROM and Odin says that it has no partition. The phone doesn’t charge anymore (I need to charge using a friend’s phone).
I tried flash an old version (4.0.4) but every time I get “no PIT partition” from Odin. I also tried to flash from different version of Odin and same results.
Is there any way to solve this without getting a Service Center? Here in Brazil is difficult to find JTAG service, so I need some home solution.
Thanks and sorry for my English.
Hi, mines went exactly the same as that last week, tried everything possible software wise. sent it to samsungs ext service centre in scotland. i still dont know fr sure if there goni fix it under warranty as in download mode it says official Rom but it also says custom system. Theyve had it since last tuesday and on the repair status it still says "Acknowledge(ASC)"
heres hoping, and i hope u get urs sorted

Hi spamtrash,
As I can understand, that thread is to prevent. Now I need to recovery.
I just tried to flash a new ROM again, and I get the following:
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I9300UBDLJ1_I9300UBDLI2_I9300ZTODLJ2_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
This is the first time I get that. The SetupConnection took a lot of time.
I tried to flash PIT file (do not know if it is the right PIT) and get Fail instant.
Any other help. Thanks to all.
Edit:
Now, I turned off and on again and tried to flash the same ROM:
<OSM> I9300UBDLJ1_I9300UBDLI2_I9300ZTODLJ2_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.

any suggestion
Anyone flashing a PIT file unless 100% correct is asking for trouble .
Buy a new motherboard .

if theres an error in the emmc flashing the original pit file is unduly. the first thing you need is to flashing recovery to see if its working or not then there solutions such as blocking or disabling the corrupted areas in the emmc chip.
Guys,
Thanks for helping but I guess the phone is briked. I will trie the service center.

Stuck on Boot Logo

Hello, I'd be grateful for some assistance. This morning my s3 was in my pocket and felt really warm. I pulled it out and it was stuck on the boot logo. I'm assuming it had been on that for a while which is why it heated up.
Now, the phone doesn't boot up. I can get into download mode but not recovery.
I did have the Siyah Kernel installed as well as a JB rom.
I have downloaded the latest firmware image for my region UK - (I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU) and tried installing but have had no luck. Below is the message I get. Please help.

Have you tried with another usb port and are you using stock samsung usb cable?
Your partition structure of the internal storage card is corrupt, the phone is soft bricked. You can usually format and recover if you have backups, particularly of the efs folder.
If you don't then there are a few solutions here on the forum you can try, otherwise it's a Samsung repair.

Hello, thanks for your reply. I don't have a backup. Would you please point me in the right direction? I'm not sure what I need to do?? where would I get the recovery??(Is that the bootloader?Kernel?Rom?)
Search and read here in Q&A, without a backup of your efs it is less likely to succeed. Otherwise return to Samsung for repair.

From what I can make out I need to reformat the internal storage. To do this I need the correct pit file. I can't find it on samfirmware.com.

[Q] Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Hi all,
I have a Samsung galaxy S3 GT-I9300. 2 days ago it crashed and won't boot anymore. The reason was can't mount /cache, can't mount system ... on recovery mode. I tried only the wipe cache option and it did nothing.
I started looking at the forum to understand how to fix it. I deciced first to make a backup of my data if possible so I downloaded Odin v3.07 and philz_touch_6.07.9-i9300.tar.md5. I read in another thread that we can manage to copy data from the phone using philz tools.
The problem here is that flashing philz tools with Odin fails all the time. Now I can only access the download mode. At boot, I have a "Firmware upgrade encountered an Issue..." I tried with Kies recovery but it failed too.
In my sdcard, I have no folder clockwordmode ! In download mode
PRODUCT NAME : GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD : Yes (3)
CURRENT BINARY : Custom
SYSTEM STATUS : Ofiicial
I am bit lost as there seem to be a lot of options in other threads. I don'y know where to start or what to do ? is it the PIT files to restore ? the firmware, the kernel ? the whole OS ?
Many thanks
Don't use pit file. pit is Last resort!!!! Get stock firmware from sammobile.com and flash it through Odin. Forget kies. Read about Odin before flashing.
You'll need to flash with a *.pit file, and the ROM downloaded from sammobile in order to restore your device. Use the *.pit file as the absolute last option to restore your phone. It will repartition your phone, and any power loss of either the machine you are flashing from, or your phone will render it a permanent brick.
Thank you
I am downloading the latest firmware from sammobile (1.1 GB) and Odin 3.09. There are specific instructions for Odin on sammobile website so I don't think i'm goint to mess it up. I will let you know if it did work for me.
I tried to flash the image from sammobile but it failed. There is no log I can read to understand why
Here is the name of image I downloaded I9300XXUGML2_I9300FTMGML2_I9300BVUGML1_HOME.tar

Shall I try with an older image (this one is the latest) ? or retry by messing the PIT ?
Nand write fail = motherboard replacement.
Keep trying to flash and don't give up but please leave pit till the end. Yes try three part recovery firmware and older firmware "not ics" SDS on ics firmware and you don't want that. But at the end of the day nand write fail means hardware failure.

I succeeded to reinstall the latest firmware and I got back the samsung logo at boot. However It still doesn't go any further and no recovery mode ... Is there a way to check the status of the system ?
Omg its alive!! Odin said pass! Just keep flashing that firmware till you get recovery and then factory reset.
Try the rescue firmware in general thread, follow the instructions exactly.

Hello
An update of my case. After struggling 2 days with NAND write fail and trying lots of firmwares... I succeeded to install CMW recovery tool. From that, I installed Cyanogenmod 10.0.2. I struggled to make it boot too as it looped on cyanogen logo many times.
Now I must confess that I am afraid of rebooting the phone as I thought it was dead
Hope it helps someone else :highfive:
Great feed back for others. and go's to show never give up flashing with Odin. Odin is a pain in the ....
Congrats

PIT related error bothers me .......
@aneeqkhan I know this thread is a bit dated now, but nobody has replied to you question either? I am trying to recover my friends Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925I, his bricked after a failed standard OTA update. Flashing stock firmware worked for about 1 week then the whole thing crashed and is un-bootable. Attempting to flash the exact same firmware again in hopes that I could boot into recovery (recovery by button combination DOES NOT WORK!) so was hoping to just boot and factory reset (I was thinking that maybe a data corruption was the cause we didn't wipe his phone because he didn't back it up)...upon putting the device into download mode and flashing the exact same firmware package that worked the week before I get the same error that you are getting? Not only that but none of the claimed fixes online for these devices has worked!?
Note: This is a 100% stock device never had anything flashed to it before I got it and still hasn't had anything custom flashed to it either
I am more interested now if you managed to recover your S6 and if so how did you do it?

Flash recovery twrp. 2.8.7.3 via heimdall. Other way flash back to stock rom with i9300 pit file via odin.. make sure you choose the right pit for i9300 16gb or i9300 32gb.
Id blame twrp. I had nothing but issues with it. Flash back to stock and start over. It's now your only option.
There is a chance you've had sds (sudden death syndrome) and the nand could be corrupt. You fix it with a pit file via odin but ONLY as a last resort. Flashing pit files is a final throw before pronouncing it's death.

You will NOT find a pit file in there as i don't support pit flashing, because it is final. It either works or it doesn't. You will have to find one yourself if you need one.

Id blame twrp. I had nothing but issues with it. Flash back to stock and start over. It's now your only option.

I tried flashing with Odin and Heimdall. All i get at the end is failed. Odin fails at NAND and heimdall runs till 100% for all whatever i choose. Suggest me any procedure on how to check if my internal storage is intact and can be retrieved. So that i can atleast sleep peacefully.

Flash recovery twrp. 2.8.7.3 via heimdall. Other way flash back to stock rom with i9300 pit file via odin.. make sure you choose the right pit for i9300 16gb or i9300 32gb.

Tried flashing PIT and was unsuccessful. Not sure if the data partition is intact and if so how to know its presence and the status of it.
Anyone solve this problem? I'm using N7100 and get this problem too
Tried to flash PIT with new odin version always noti "failed",
with 3.0.7, 3.0.9, odin freeze at "Get PIT for mapping..", I waited more than 30 minutes but nothing happen,
Tried to flash stock ROM but failed at "NAND Write Start!!"
Someone please help me fix this problem.
Are you using the original Samsung USB cable? Tried other USB cables and USB 2.0 ports?
oh, hi audit13,
Of course I used original Samsung USB cable, I changed some other cables, and USB ports(2.0, 3.0) to test, but nothing new.
I think no one can fix this problem, bring to cell store is the best choice
When flashing with Odin, which is the file that fails to flash? Maybe post the Odin log?

There shoot.bin file is not flashing because the memory is damaged, the ROM is not for the phone, the bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom, or you need a different USB cable.

"the bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom"
Sorry, but how to know bootloader in the phone is newer than bootloader in the rom?
I flashed Roms with Android ver 4.4.4, 6.0.1, 7.1.1, and don't know much about bootloader, can you help me find my bootloader ver and find the way to resolve this problem. Thanks
