I usually used to switch between various custom roms regularly ,will it decrease the life time of the mobile because of flashing more number of times using CWM
No - NAND Flash devices these days can easily cope with tens of thousands of write cycles.

I’ve flash about 20 different ROMS since I got my SGS2
I’m running checkromHD 4.0 every two days or so my phone seem to turn off or go into a sleep mode and cant be woken up, my friend running the same ROM (which I installed for him) and has got no problems
Ive tried wipe / format data cache and factory reset, tried flashing a stock ROM, then Checkrom 4.0 still the same problem
Can too much rom flashing affect the phone?
Any help would be appreciated
No
Problems are usually user error or rom error .
jje
I agree, I flashed mi phone like 32 times and still rocking
long ago i rested counter and at the moment i have like 50 flashes and i think im gonna flash again tonight...when sth is wrong its either the rom or the users fault...nothing against u but mostly its the users fault

this sounds like too much undervolting, or playing with set cpu settings, very common issue, had it like millions times, either flash a different kernel, or increase voltages of the sleep/wake frequency ([email protected])
with some kernels my voltage for 200mhz was at 825 and was running fine at some kernels i was having no wake issues, so had to put it up to 850-875 or change governor hope this helps
Flash durability
Flash memory durability depends of type. You can expect to be able to flash your phone at least 10,000 times. You will find that the connector which is also rated for 10,000 connections, would wear out first.

John.
Hey everyone. I'm still fairly new to Android...this being my first Android phone though I got it back at the end of March.
Anyway, right around when the first ICS leaks became available I read up on how to root my phone, put CWM recovery on, and how to put a custom ROM on. I've been running the Objection ICS rom from about 1-2 months ago and its starting to get bogged down and I want to try out a new ROM.
However, when I check all the threads in the Android development section there are all these acronyms about using certain modems that I don't understand and weren't there 1-2 months ago when I was experimenting with the various ROMs. In my About Phone it says I'm on i717UCLC5 as the baseband.
Do I have to do something special with my modem to use these various mods, or is the modem included in the CWM recovery zip that I flash? What does having different baseband modems do?
Modems are binaries that handle the cell data/signal
They are usually contained within a ROM, if for some reason you need to change, there are stand alone zips of just the modems.
Over the past month, I've been flashing my Galaxy with various ROM's and kernels (namely Cyanogenmod 9, F1 Galaxy Nexus, Siyah 3) after recovering from an error where Cyanogenmod was unbootable and recovery wasn't booting either. I managed to get into Download Mode and flash stock.
However, while in the processing of flashing I noticed a slow down in the flashing process. I've flashed this phone about 25 times if so much. Is this a sign that the flash memory is dying?

r u experiencing this many times? or just this last time? may be is something of the rom u installed...or a one time thing... try another rom and see..
i flashed my phone many many times, and never had something like that...but every rom is different...meanwhile drained my hole battery during the flash proces,, other doesn't...soo maybe just a one time thing or a rom thing...don't think that it is a hardware issue....
Hi, I write here because I'm a new user and I haven't wrote 10 messages yet. I have some questions for MrTapa. First of all thanks for your work. I have a problem with your rom, Optimax 3.0 on my Ray: it's happened already 2 times that the phone reboots by itself and get stuck on Sony logo. Only way to resolve is to flash stock rom with Flashtools. When it happened for the first time I was installing X-Parts from the market (I have locked bootloader), while the second time I was deleting some desktop pictures from system/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/wallpaperpicker/wallpapers. If it can useful my basic configuration is: GX launcher, NXT framework, T tabbed statusbar, supercharger + zipalign (even if I tried the method for use init.d on stock kernel but with no success), SuperSU, Z theme, NXT contacts and dialer. Are there some incompatibilities with this configuration? However with the old versions of Optimax I never had problems at all.
Another question is about the battery: I noticed that with your roms the charge time is reduced compared to the stock rom, about 2 hours instead of 3 hours. Also the battery life is very short, only 1,30-2 hours with screen on (just used with system apps, with no other apps installed). Have you changed some files configuration concerning the battery?
Thanks in advance.

From my experience with st15i (Mini) and after evaluating ALL available kernels and MOST of available ROMs I can suggest:
1. About bootloop it can happen if you missed some critical step ( e.g format system ). If developer suggests to format system, DO it. You will loose your data but there is NO other option. (You can use Titanium Backup to backup your apps+data before ROM installation and restore them after). If it is a ROM bug search ROM's thread for someone with similar problem. It's statistically extremely rare to be the first to face the particular problem. Maybe your problem is all ready fixed (after other member's question to developer).
2. Battery drain: the most important factor is kernel. Usuall, ROM plays minor part in battery drain. With the right kernel and adjustments (governor - I/O scheduler) you can even double your battery's life. In my device it was 20-24 h to 48-60 h after flashing a custom kernel. You can also use a battery saver app (like Ultimate Juice, Battery Saver DU etc).

Thanks for reply. About first point I actually done every steps that the developer has suggested: wipe user data, format system, data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats.
About the battery I don't know why, but the difference between original rom and Optimax rom is clear. I have reflashed the modified rom just few hours ago, the battery drain has been about 20% in two hours with phone simply in standby. I don't think this is a normal behavior. With original firmware it doesn't happen. The condition battery is good. I have stock kernel because I have locked bootloader.
Maybe this problem is about root: or the root process has not gone totally succesful, or the cause of the problem is SuperSU, wich I have never used before but in my opinion it is not very stable. It's better Superuser.
I wanted write on Optimax thread but I can't because I'm a new user, I would be grateful if someone can contatc the developer (MrTapa) about my problem.
HI guys,
My tablet is giving me issues with my wifi all of the sudden.
It was working fine and now it just says Turning on Wi-Fi... this never stops.
I have a Huawei Mediaoad S7-301u
Any ideas how I can get my wifi back up and running?
A restart should do. If you don't have to do this too often. All custom roms for the Mediapad should exhibit this fom time to time, stock rom is too long gone to remember, but if you're still using it you found the answer for that.
Usually it should happen after wakeup from standby, and if it occurs several times a day, another rom may perform better, also increasing screen timeout should help.
If wifi is completely gone, restore a nandroid backup or recover the stock rom via dload method, if there's no custom recovery, which would prevent that. Custom rom and no backup means doing a clean flash.

I have done a few restarts and I have also reinstalled the same rom. I am starting to think it is the rom, it seemed buggy from the start.
Which rom would you suggest?
Stability-wise it's the older the better. Stock rom and After Silence's CM10(probably gone forever) . He developed the kernel Zyr3x was also using, whose roms got buggier and buggier. Zyr3xs AOKP, maybe, that was my first custom rom on the Mediapad, but I don't remember the bugs there were. Some, but not many.
