Trying to safely root problems - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hi all bit of a noob, Samsung Galaxy 5 gt 15500 Froyo 2.2 trying to upgrade to 2.3 Gingerbread.
Anyway downloaded z4root using QR from this site V1.3.0, thread closed so could not post there. Tried to root but it did not root. Tried z4root again and just got a white screen , waited for a while nothing happened, just a white screen, pressed home and returned to home page OK. I tried to reboot and everything came back, still not rooted but z4root now worked. Tried this 3 times again with blue screen but did not work. Re-installed app a couple of times.
Any suggestions on any similar app that will safely root this phone as this one does not work on this phone also tried "super oneclick" did not work. This is getting frustrating. Tried many searches on google and youtube but none seemed to work on this phone
Thanks 2bretired.
UPDATE 9/16/12
Well after much searching I stumbled across a program called "Unlock root" which had our model number as working, but it only runs from a computer. Be carefull downloading as it tries to put Babylon tool bar on your computer even when you uncheck the install box's.
Downloaded, ran the program and at first it did not root but after a couple of try's it worked. So finally I have a rooted phone. Next step to use ROMmanager to backup existing firmware then upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.
Hope this helps others out there. 2bretired

Use universal AndRoot as branimiller9 said and just be careful while using ROM manager, (It bricks if you are not careful enough!!). Instead you cab flash clockworkmod recovery from psyke83 and backup/flash anything from there.

[Q] how can I reboot my Vibrant, after trying almost everything?

So I want to to root my Vibrant but I can't...Every way I tried it needed to reboot my vibrant to recovery didn't work...
I tried GS Tweaker, ONeSuperClick, rom manager, terminal emulator.....
I got my update.zip file into my SD card but Im stuck with the rebooting thing
I tried all the ways of rebooting: the manual rebooting, Android SDK application... everything thing, I spent the whole day finding ways, watching videos and reading from vibrant wiki..
So what I reached to yesterday is:
while I was talking to one of the pro of android in one of the chat room somewhere, he said maybe because my phone needs "hardware updating" that the buttons can't reboot something like that (since I'm not in the states and I cant get OTA updates from T-mobile)... so I need to download ODIN and find Samsung drivers...
can anyone help me in this please?
try http://www.akaskriller.com/free/flashing.php
there are some files that you may need to ODIN. good luck, hope it works out.

ok....thats weird
first try pulling out your battery.....then put it back in...then hold both volume buttons while you turn it back on w/ the power button....when the black samsung screen pops up let them go...the phone should go into the stock 2e recovery...
if you still want the drivers then here you go ....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929

[Q] Why can't I update to 1.8.3?

ok, so a month or two ago I rooted my Motorola Atrix so I could install Gingerblur which went well at first. It was working great for me and then I noticed that once and a while i would look at my hone and see an exclamation point and an android icon..I would have to pop the batter out and put it back in to restart...what I think happened is that my phone tried installing an automatic update which failed maybe due to my hacked phone not being compatible...bc after awhile I would notice my phone installing an update and then automatically rebooting to the error screen.
I tried installing GreyBlur the other day..and it didn't work well..so I flashed back to 1.5.6..but now I don't know how to upgrade to 1.8.3..when I scan for a system update it says that my phone is up to date..how can I update to the latest firmware and how come my phone isn't automatically installing it? Have I lost my opportunity to do this since to all the hacking I've done to my phone? or am I missing something? please help =(
Have you tried downloading it from the Motorola website? You should be able to just follow the directions on there to update it.
http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=9098bc50a569f210VgnVCM10000081bbb00aRCRD
I used the "second method" and just let the Moto installer do it's thing. It will take some time and look like it may be freezing occasionally, but just let it go. It should work.
Hope this helps.
-Doogs™
I'm updating right now through the second method. I'm surprised I didn't find that sooner..I should of just went to the website to begin with..but I searched google and couldn't find any information on how to download it without going through an automated update.
I was also wondering if I should do a factory reset after updating

Samsung Galaxy Ace - APPs Problem

Hello there.
First of all, hi, I'm Filipe and I just purchased a new Samsung Galaxy Ace a couple weeks ago, my first Android.
SecondlyI am completely new to this world and a lot of friends told me to come and register here should I want to learn about Rooting, ROMs and what not. They also told me to come here if I had any problem with the phone.
So far I didn't had much time to learn about ROMs and etc but today I got a large overview of it through a friends explanation, which is why I didn't came here before. But some days ago I started having problems with my phone. I googled an answer, I "androidpt.com"ed an answer, I even searched here and I have found either no solution or no one in certain forums with this problem.
Here's whats happening:
A couple of days ago, I was 'playing' with the phone when it suddently shuts down. After turning it back on, nothing seemed to have happened. Until I tried to install something. From that day on, I can only install certain apps. The others just won't install. This is what happens (I'd take a print screen but I can't install any print screen app, LOL):
1- I click the APP I'm trying to install.
2- I click on "Install" when it asks me if I want to install the APP.
3- The screen says "Installing" and has a tiny green moving bar bellow it, for about half a second.
4- After that half a second, it instantly says "Application not installed", leaving me with a single button to exit.
And that's it. I just can't install anything.
Solutions tried:
- First I tried a soft reset.
- Then I tried a SD reset.
- Then I went to the store where I bought it and they did a hard reset.
- Then I tried to hard reset it again.
- Then I tried Rooting it.
- And I'm finally trying to see if you guys solve it here..
- The last option will be heading to Samsung's large store here in Portugal but this will make me lose it for several days, and I was told you could probably fix this.
Ah well, hoping for a positive answer.
Kind Regards,
Filipe
I'm guessing there are no solutions then?
Maybe the app is for root users??
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Well I have it rooted, I tested installing stuff with it rooted, and unrooted, so it doesn't seem to be from that, but thanks for trying!
Any other possible solutions? This is getting really annoying, can't even take screenshots of my screen or install most games.
You should try to reflash you FW, it will be better then hard or soft reset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
And to take screen captures, you don't need any app, just press and keep pressed the back button and then the home button, both together, you will here the camera sound and a warning on the screen will show you where the file got saved.
Yup reflash your phone. Also you can take screenshot with a stock service. Hold the back soft button and press on your home middle button.
XDA ♥
Have you try to delete the temp file that can block installations? I had same problem and i delete the temp file and after that it was ok.

Hi, I am having the same problem....
I brought my ace locked to 3, got it unlocked (simlock) then rooted it using Super One Click V1.9.5 Short fuse. The phone is running 2.2.1 Kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
If I remove the memory card, then re-boot, I can install apps from market place.... for a while, then I just get the "failed to install message" and I have to remove the card and reboot
One thing to mention, I was already running a Galaxy Europa (I5500) and I am using the memory card from this phone, to try and install some of the apps from, maybe this has something to do with the problem?
I have downloaded the AceVillanRom and was goin to give this a go, do you think this will sort the problem?
Thanks for looking

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Rugby: various issues

Hello all,
I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any device-related subforum for the Samsung Galaxy Rugby (GT-S5690M). If my questions are in the wrong section, please move it to the right place (mods)?
So here's the story: I just got my first smartphone. Since it's locked to Bell, it has some bloatware and need for sim-unlocking. I did a lot of reading and through some tutorials I managed to root Android and got rid of some bloatware (just four Bell apps). So far so good! Then I tried to unlock the phone. There are some apps in the Google Play that state that they can unlock the phone for free ("works on various Galaxy models").
I tried them out, but none of them could provide a solution. The last app I tried (Galaxy_S Unlock) requested that BusyBox were to be installed, so I did. During the installation the app remarked that already some BusyBox version was installed, but not the version that it was trying to install. I was suppose to try another type of installing (I used the normal/safe mode). But it said it was already installed, so good enough. Right? I tried the unlocking app again, but it still said it had errors getting to communicate with BusyBox. None of the unlocking apps gave me the impression that they changed anything in the system.
I figured that maybe a reboot of the phone would fix this. However, now the phone got several issues:
- booting takes forever (18 minutes) It does the animated Samsung logo (though, not with sound any more) and then keeps on slowing the glowing Samsung name.
- the speaker doesn't seem to be working at all
- it can no longer check for updates. After agreeing with the disclaimer, it says it can't connect.
- Samsung KIES (PC software suite) doesn't see the phone any more.
- the phone is generally very slow now. Even when typing a password the phone sometimes hangs for about 5-10 seconds. Loading the disclaimer for the Software Updater takes 10-15 seconds.
I tried to reset to factory defaults and reload the rooting zip file again, but to no avail.
I've been trying to read up on the isolated symptoms, but I'm simply starting to feel overloaded with all the info, especially since I'm a Android newbie.
Does anybody recognize these symptoms and, more important, has any tips on what to try to restore whatever has gone wrong?
Additionally, I would really be interested in knowing if there's a way to force-upgrade to Jelly Bean. It appears that this firmware hasn't been made available to Rugby users yet through the regular update channels. But are there alternatives?
I have a Bell as well

The external drive will only work if you select "Enable USB Connection" in the Android menu.
I've revived my phone for a hobby project. Can't remember how I solved the above issues at the time, but it doesn't want to accept the stock firmware image. I can only find one old version on my external HDD with old backup data. Tried several Odin versions to no avail. 3.07 stays stuck at "SetupConnection". 3.04 fails with "Complete(Write) operation failed."

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 SM-T337T - Bootloop Fix? - Can't Find Drivers to Flash

This problem has been driving me absolutely mental. About 2 months ago, I tried to root my Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 by T-Mobile (it was an old device anyways), I used the Odin method, and while it was installing, it said that the process was successful, and I saw it all come through. However, when my device restarted, it was stuck at "Starting apps..." for about an hour, so I tried restarting. Then it was stuck on the T-Mobile logo for 1.5 hours. I did a hard wipe/reset, and it was fine... for about a week.
The funny thing about it is, after I did the hard reset, certain bugs would happen, a different bug each time. (For example, Google Play apps would be stuck at "installing", screenshots wouldn't save, apps would crash repeatedly, etc) So if I tried to restart, it wouldn't fix it, but instead it would bootloop. I have to hard reset/wipe my whole system each time it happens, and it drives me up the friggin wall.
I saw online that you can try flashing your system by installing the default drivers onto your computer, and install it on your system through Odin. (or something like that, I'm not that professional at mobile technology) Awesome. Just one problem.. I have looked everywhere and I can't find the driver specifically for my system. I have looked for the driver ever since the problem got worse and I found out about this information, but I found nothing.
If anyone has any idea on how you can help, please respond as soon as you can. Thank you very much.

What you read in the internet means re-flashing your stock rom (system), that is the fix for your problem, the way to do it is to download and install Samsung USB drivers if you hadn't done that already, and Download stock rom from here or here search your model number in the search box and choose the stock rom based on your country, and flash with Odin, it's pretty much the same way you tried to root using CF-ROOT method:
1-you boot into download mode (volume down + home button + power button)
2-and then connect your phone to PC.
3-open Odin and uncheck everything except "auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" (you should find it like that already), make sure your phone is recognized by Odin, you will see a blue box with a message saying "0:[COMX]" where X is a number.
4-press AP (or PDA in some versions) locate your stock rom which should be in .md5 format, and choose it, then 5-press start.
6-wait for the process to finish (takes a while) and then the phone should reboot itself and you will get a message in Odin saying "Reset!"
PS: you must register on the sites to download..bad thing i know but it's obligation.
Searched both of these websites for the drivers, found nothing.. I've been searching the internet for hours and not one driver was found. Extremely disappointed.

It doesn't need any advanced computer and only the size of the stock rom and Odin, it's no big deal.
