Better First upgrade to ics. Is your Bootloader unlocked?
Otherwise you will have to use local prop method. Check out my signature there's a rooting guide. In the guide there's how to root 4.1.B.0.431 and there's the Link to DragonClawsAreSharp's great tutorial

thankyou

If your Bootloader is unlocked you needn't do the procedure in the tutorial, just Flash the ics Firmware ftf via flashtool and Flash a custom ics Kernel, for example rage Kernel for 4.0.4. After that install the custom rom

Just flash it with wipe all, but before do a backup using for example titanium backuü. Wipe all and exclude nothing.
After flashing plug off, let phone turned off, hold volume up and connect to pc, flash a rooted kernel (like I said for example rage kernel for 4.0.4) and boot up. Enable usb debugging and unknown sources and msc mode (not necessary just for sure), push the rom installation zip to sd card and shut down.
Flash the recommend kernel and boot in cwm. See what has to be formatted/wiped and after that install the rom.
Reboot and enjoy

Yes, but .587 isn't released for xperia mini pro and the other devices. Only a few have got the update right now, but if there's a custom rom based on it for your device it should work...
Btw hitting thanks woule be nice

You can't Update until Sony hasn't released it. If your bootloader is Locked you can connect to pc companion and it'll find the Update, but it has to be released First. You will have to wait

It's an upgrade to your current kernel, it should just flash fine and your rom should keep working.

Sure dude? Can't we upgrade replacing the ftf somewhere with shell and modifying some init config file, as we do on linux?
If not, i wonder why the MiniCM notification has the download option.

MiniCM is the ROM, not the kernel, If you have an official CM-ROM on your phone you can get OTA updates for that, but that doesn't include the kernel of your phone.
The main reason you can't update kernels without a computer is because your phone has to be in flash-mode in order to reach the parts where the kernel and loader are stored, and if your phone is in flashmode, you can't access it manually to edit anything.

Thanks. Didnt know the flashmode thing.
By the way, i know minicm is the rom, but the minicm notification has both rom and kernel (nAa kernel) update notication. It is a cm based rom.

Yes, i know minicm is cm-based, but it's an 'unofficial' port, so i'm not sure if you actually get Over-The-Air updates (where the relevant parts of the ROM are updated on the fly), or just notifications that updates are available and that you can download them from somewhere, or if you even get notifications, i haven't used it long enough to find out
I dowloaded the kernel with the notification to sd... But need flashtool anyway. Maybe it is for quick flash because don't have to visit xda thread.
Thanks for answers
that does make it a bit easier i suppose anyway, you're welcome
It is actually possible to flash kernels without a PC. It just hasn't been coded into our CWM and the correct way hasn't yet been found/added for the Mini/MiniPro. It is possible but you'd need a JTAG as you'd probably kill the phone quite a few times!

return to official rom

So I had this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876792) and i wanted to go back to my official rom. I went to CDW wiped out system, date, ect etc and I tried to restore my backup which I did with my CWM before I use the custom rom. Everything ok but when I reboot me device it shows the bootlogo of the custom firmware and not the sony and after that it goes black. How do I solve this? I searched but I didnt find anything
Please be more exact on what you wiped and formatted all. What kernel and cwm version are you using? Did you made the nand backup with the same cwm version?

And you flashed back stock (based) kernel?
When you flash .ftf rom using a flashtool, it flashes all official components (rom, kernel, baseband) by default. I apologize flashtool is a most useful method to go back at stock rom. What do you think?

Download flashtool. Download ftf of firmware u want to flash. Open flashtool and drop that downloaded ftf file in flashtool window. Then check no final verification. Click ok. Then follow instructions given by flashtool. Done. Simple as that.

And be careful with device drivers. Install it from a Flashtool folder to avoid a flashing problems.

Yea. Cwm doesn't reatore kernel. Just the system, data dalvik etc.
You'll need an ics kernel like alliance or suave to boot into the restored backup.

Mate
You should have flashed an Ics fw atleast
Before flashing an Ics Rom
Anyways flash. 587 fw using flashtool
Then root it using doomLord's kit
Refer to Madfysh's thread
Also then before installing Rom
Flash a custom kernel
As in that you get cwm in built
Then do all wipes
Format system format data
Is also needed
Then install Rom
Follow instructions in Aroma!
Done

You need an ics kernel. You were on gb and with your new rom you are on ics.
Your bootloader is unlocked so flash a ics kernel. There a plenty to choose from. For example stock, advanced stock, suave or night elf.
Flash the kernel and your phone will boot. Look if it functions well, otherwise install the Rom again.

Flash kernel through fastboot mode
There's a thread in sticky section
Have a read before flashing!
Also read thread of kernel you've chosen to flash!
And to enter into fastboot mode
You've to press menu button at right side beside home key and plug usb into pc holding that button

[SOLVED][Q] Probably Bricked Neo V

Hello guys.
I am new here.
So i have Sony Xperia Neo V and i tried to flash some roms from here.
I did unlock bootloader officially. The easy way.
After that, i managed to flash a kernel via flashtool. Root and CWM installed as well.
I downloaded and flashed a miui rom for neo v, followed instructions (full wipe, cache, dalvik). The result: got stucked on the Sony logo screen.
I waited for like 15 minutes but nothing happened. Then i tried to boot on cwm in order to flash again or flash some other roms but i couldn't. I tried all the combination keys but i was unable to boot on cwm.
After official unlocking BL, seus won't let me update to factory settings.
So i tried to flash other files(custom and official kernels sony provided) with no success. It got stuck on flashtool at ~8% the first time.
After that nothing. Literally. No sony logo, no boot.
I can connect on flash mode (green led) but i can't do anything else.
I strongly believe that my phone is bricked now.
Is there any way to do something to unbrick?
P.S. 1 I tried FOTA unbrick tool but nothing.
P.S. 2 Sorry for my bad grammar.
Thanks in advance
Try to flash the stock ftf using flashtool!
Or else use SEUS!
That can UNbrick your phone!
Or
Flash custom kernel like
Suave, alliance,super stock,etc
Flash kernel like these via fastboot mode, not via flashtool flashmode!
That has cwm inbuilt ....and you can access recovery mode by pressing vol down button repeatedly!

Which miui rom did you choose?
Was it a miui rom that works with stock kernel or a rom that requires a custom kernel?
My mistake was that i was trying on flashmode not fastboot.
So now I flashed Suave kernel and GB rom. It finally booted ))
Now i'm going to be more carefull.
Thanks to you guys.

Brother, you flashed a jelly bean kernel so you can just run CyanogenMod10 based roms(android 4.1.2 roms)
If you're going to flash a gingerbread rom(CyanogenMod7) (android 2,3) you must use a gingerbread kernel like : "nAa 14 gingerbread for x10mini"
Good Luck
