[Q] Liquid ICS JMOD Google Voice dialer - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all I believe this ROM is the bomb; finally have ICS on my TB. The only problem I am having is getting the Google Voice dialer to work with my bluetooth earpiece Plantronics M1100. When I double tap the earpiece the GV dialer pops up, I hear a double beeb and then nothing.
Anyone else having this problem and have you had it resolved. Thanks guys.

There seems to be Bluetooth problems with this Rom. I've read that formatting in EXT3 resolves this issue? I'm not positive though.

I attempted reformatting with EXT3 and still have the same problem.
Thanks for the advice; it was worth the try

The Bluetooth issue isn't a result of the file system, it's the kernel. In other words, we will have to wait for liquid to release a more stable version of his kernel. I use my Bluetooth a lot as well, and as a result I have to deal with the same issues. I've had issues where no audio streams through the Bluetooth headset, but when I toggle from Bluetooth headset to speaker and back to Bluetooth, I miraculously get audio.
P.S. the radio's won't fix that either.

Thanks for the update. I just hope Liquid can get it going quickly.
This is a slick ass ROM and would really like to continue using it.

Voice Dialer Problem with ICS....a work around
While I could get Bluetooth audio to work on several Thunderbolt ICS Roms, I could not get the voice dialer via the bluetooth headset to work. I tried using several apps to resolve this issue and finally found one! Try using the app called "Voice Control Full" and it works perfectly! The app is $1.99 for the full version and there is even a trial version I believe called "Voice Control Trial". This works way better than the stock Android dialer - much more accurate! Good luck!

I attempted the use the Voice Control Full app; it would not wake the phone up via Bluetooth.

[Q] no sound on back speaker after email notifications

Hi, I'm having a very annoying issue with default email client in Froyo. Whenever I receive a notification from it -be it a sound or vibrate only- the first time it plays on back speaker but after that all sounds (music, videos or any notification) are redirected to internal speaker (the one used to listen when in calls) and back speaker remains in silence.
The only way to fix it I've found is to make a call. After that sounds are played correctly again until another email arrives.
Anyone knows a way to permanently fix this issue?? I couldn't find any reference to this by searching forum or google and I don't want to have to use another email client, I've tried Touchdown but it's painfully slow.
PS: right now I'm using CM6 TripN 1.5, but this was also happening with WB5.5. I haven't tried any other GB or Froyo ROM.
Thanks in advance.
Just curious, why are you using earlier versions of roms?
The newest versions won't do that

It's the latest CM6 Froyo from Trip and I find it more stable than WB one. Also hate all those MIUI Iphone clone roms, and most CM7 have some annoying bugs. I use camera a lot so I prefer a rom whre the camera's fully working.
All old versions do that?? Like it's Google fault?
hello? anyone??
are you using Soundhound or Shazam??? if you do, that's your problem, uninstall them and reboot, your problem will be gone...

Notification sounds using stereo Bluetooth on STOCK Rom

Hi,
In new gingerbread update when I am in my car using my mw600 as handsfree, I get a call BUT the earpeice is not in my ear. With the mobile not being in my immediate view I can't tell that there is a call.
Why? Coz the phone speaker doesn't ring when connected to stereo Bluetooth. This is since the gingerbread update on x10.
I tried cm7 by z and its a great Rom, also more importantly in regards to the above issue there is also a section in cyanogen mod settings which allows notification sounds to be played through phone speaker. I couldn't stay on this Rom because I wanted the stock SE camera.
My question is simple:
Can the stock Rom have any sort of tweaks to allow sound to be redirected to speaker when in handsfree mode?
Suggestions or point to any useful threads please.

i don't know what happen with you, but when i connect my phone with my sound of car, the phone still play the notifications with the speakers.

Is that stereo Bluetooth? i.e using Bluetooth headset such as mw600? Also if u r using car Bluetooth, can you play music via car speakers from phone? If not then your scenario would be different to mine.
Also I must point that this is not a bug on my phone as I have experienced this with several installations of stock Rom.

[App] IVONA Speech Engine

Just an FYI to anyone that has thought about using SVOX but didn't want to pay for the voices. Or, if you use navigation/voice readout on your phone but don't like the standard Android voice.
IVONA speech engine is similar to SVOX but having used both, I think IVONA sounds better. Currently it is in beta and it can be had free from Google Play and the voices are also free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts&hl=en
The beta seems to work very well. Only bad thing is when downloading the voices it can take around 10min even on WiFi (guessing their server connections are not the greatest).
Not sure how long the beta will last so check it out while you can.
Using ivona on rooted stock causes my ringer to not work so have someone call you to make sure thats not happening to you.

My ringer seems to be working. I'm using the voice readout/ringer option for my calls and running rooted/unlocked stock. One thing that bothers me is when reading out a phone number that is not named in my contacts it reads it like a regular number (using the stock selection in settings). However, I set that to ring only and downloaded talking caller id from Play and it works fine that way.
Yea, I think my issue started when I switched from kendra to amy. The voices are awesome, just something to be careful about if a missed call becomes the end of the world.

I had this problem too. I noticed that I lost my ringer when I selected "always use my setting". I turned off that setting and got my ringer back.

I found after having this issue any time I selected a British voice on any text to speech engine it happened. sucks because they sound way better.

I unlocked my phone this weekend and am now running HomeBase Photon without blur. I installed ivona voice and have not had an issue with my ringtone. I am wondering if the issue has anything to do with motoblur.

Audio issues 4.4

Just curious if anyone else is having trouble with playing audio on 4.4 Roms. The music plays fine but I keep getting audio glitches throughout the songs at random intervals. I am running kitkang with viper4android. I don't think it's the audio mod because before I installed the driver on the latest nightly it was still glitching. Thanks for any input guys!

This happens with plugged jacks too? All aosp ROMs from 4.2 have had Bluetooth audio issues exactly like you describe, but none through the headphone jack...

Yes this happens while running through the headphone jack, I never use BT

Ugh I think this issue is a double edged sword, after more troubleshooting I found that switching lpa.decode to true stops the glitches but also makes viper4android stop working. I guess I'll just have to wait for things to get worked out!
Edit: Come to find out after even more screwing around I finally found the culprit.........my kernel settings were not allowing to clock speeds to jump up fast enough to compensate for the audio processing, wow do I feel silly. Mod's you can delete this if you want!

[Q] Low Volume Issues

I recently installed Cyanogen mod 11 on my Droid DNA.
Overall I'm loving the look and feel of Cyanogen mod, but I'm running in to some minor issues with maximum volume. For some reason the max volume for the speakers is now much quieter than it was before.
I've tried various solutions, one of which is here, I found the file they talk about but I have no "Speaker" section, just many variations.
Has anyone else had this issue? Does anybody know how I could force the max volume to be louder out of my speakers? I'm using YouTube videos as a reference.
I am running it and don't have this issue. Is your speaker partially blown or anything. Is there any physical damage on the phone.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nope, no damage to the phone. And when I revert to the stock ROM the sound is perfectly fine.
That's strange. Maybe I'm just not used to it. I haven't noticed.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah with me it was a big difference, I might try going through the sound config file on my phone and upping all the volumes by a few percent to see if that helps.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah I believe I was accidentally using a nightly instead of a snapshot.
However a couple days after I fixed this issue CM updated to a newer snapshot, and the sound is broken again. Do you think I should report this as a bug? Or just wait for the newest update?

If you did a clean install and it's on a snapshot you can report a bug. But if you didn't do a clean install do that first and then if it's still there report the bug.
Please press the thanks button if I have helped you in anyway.

It says all bug reports require a logcat, should I just run some sound apps then include the logcat?

Natural Log Sound Output decay
I recently installed "Dna Official Stock Kitkat - Rooted" for HTC Droid DNA by "santod040"
All sound files... alarms, ringtones, streaming start out fine then drop volume speaker output to near nothing

I flushed and am trying cm-10.2.1-dlx.zip to test speaker output; might give vipor rom a try as well
The handset is S-OFF, ROOTED, & CWM touch 6.0.4.5, with "Dna Official Stock Kitkat - Rooted" 4.4.2; Yes, sound was fine before the OTA notice came through prompting using santod040 packages.
Much Thanks to all lead to the lite..
viper4android Disables LPA
The only time I had ever had an issue was flashing a nightly dirty. I managed to recover the audio by installing viper4android.apk. The newer versions of V4A automatically detects if LPA (low powered audio) is enabled. It will give you an option to disable it, just tick that yes please button. Usually LPA only affects things like bluetooth audio so it wouldn't drain the battery as fast, but I know with previous CM versions they had a bluetooth audio issue. Most likely completely unrelated but there might have been a WIP that caused things to be construed. If another rom version works then i'd recommend just installing a stable release.
REMEMBER ~ you are able if you run stable :good:
This actually worked for me!
I downloaded Viper For Android, installed the updated drivers it recommended, then turned on "eXtra-Loud" for the phone speaker.
Audio is now just as loud as before.
Where's the thanks button? So that I can give you thanks.

Just wanted to pipe in with something that may be others source of low volume issues. I have had low volume on my stock Droid DNA for quite some time and really beat my head against the wall trying to figure it out. Turns out it was very simple for me but not terribly obvious. Get your phone out and look at the speaker grill (just below the Beats Audio logo on the back). Does it look a bit clogged? Mine was completely clogged (I don't use a case). I took out a toothbrush I use just for cleaning and cleared it up and my audio is nice and loud now. Just wanted to pass on this simple fix to try so others would see it.
Viper has been abandoned; what's a good ROM now?
