Hi,
I rooted my phone recently and flashed the latest Siyah Kernel* on it and installed the complementing ExTweaks app. I hadn't played with the settings on ExTweaks, but I've noticed my haptic feedback has gone a bit funny and stopped working. It would be fine when I reboot it, but when I put it into standby/sleep mode and wake it up it stops working. I can change the intensity of the vibrations using ExTweaks, which would get it to work but if I rewake it, it would stop again. So I can gather that it's a software issue rather than hardware. I've tried getting rid of ExTweaks and rebooting the phone but the problem still persists.
Anything (other than flashing the stock ROM) I can do to make it work again?
Thanks.
* (I tried to flash a stock kernel after flashing CF-Root but that bricked my phone so I had to use a microUSB jig to enter download mode, from where I flashed Siyah to get it up and running again. I lost no data and don't know if it's relevant but I thought I'd put this in anyway.)

Thanks for your reply. No I have never performed a factory reset, phone originally had GB, which was upgraded to 4.0 and then 4.0.4 without any resets along the way.

Hello, my first post here. In february I modified my phone (swedish) and it has all been working ok up until yesterday. Well actually for the last couple of weeks the battery has started running hot and draining fast. But yesterday the sim disappeared and I can get no connection, it even gets stuck when I put it in flight mode.
So I figured I should update things in the best way, but how to go about it. I used guides to get it done last time but I have forgotten most of that and I would be very grateful for help to proceed. I need a stable system only, no clocking etc.
Greetings/ Roger

if ur rooting ur phone and trying to install a custom rom then there is no point in updating to the latest stock version
if u want to continue with stock, then its good to update it to the latest version
To clarify, I see a 4.0.4 for nordic countries at the same place where the 4.0.3 was. So would it be safe to upgrade it to 4.0.4 using Odin?Or is 4.0.4 a whole different matter? Cheers

no upgrading is not fullwipe, but in order to have stability u have to do a factory reset after upgrading
before doing factory reset u can backup ur phone with KIES

Hello everyone,
I rooted my Galaxy i9100 S2 using the SU Busybox method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 ) with a view to installing cyanogenmod CM9. I installed CWM recovery and successfully rooted the phone. It rebooted and I had the Superuser app.
Then, I entered CWM recovery to install the CM9 rom. After I selected the option to Wipe data/factory reset, the phone started wiping the data and then it suddenly turned itself off. Now it will not turn itself on, nor will it charge. Basically, nothing is displayed on the screen. I tried all methods available, from trying to enter recovery mode to doing a soft reset, and nothing happens.
I was running on the stock Samsung Android ICS ROM. I didn't get to install a custom ROM, and the root went well, as I was able to boot successfully after that.
Why do you think this happened? Do you have any advice for me ?
Thanks a lot !
If you had 4.0.4 stock samsung ics with brick bug you can say good bye to your phone. . .

Were you on ICS 4.0.4? If so, and you have used wipe data/factory reset with the stock CWM, I think you may have been hit by the infamous eMMc brick bug. I believe the only fix is a replacement motherboard or Samsung Repair Centre.

Motherboard replacements are possible yes. I'm not sure where you can purchase one. I'm handy with computers myself but I don't think I would want to replace it myself. I'm just wondering because I remember reading somewhere that Samsung said something like they would help fix phones hit by the brick bug because it was their fault. Don't hold me to that, but also because you were on stock ICS, Samsung may repair it if it's still in warranty of course.

Not in a bad mood bro. In fact my team just won.
The thing is, I'm always not so happy with people bricking their phone when it was avoidable in the first place. That warning thread was made sticky for some reason.
You know we always warn people about the stock 4.0.4 kernel, but some of them like the OP will always blame Samsung for their own error as if Samsung wanted them to flash a custom ROM in the first place.
It's just not good enough!

I didn't know I have to search the whole forum before doing a wipe. It's not an uncommon procedure...
Anyway, I took it to my local Samsung service. The phone is still under warranty, so the guy said it might take a few days but it will be free. The guy also said they have had a few instances like this.
When I get the phone back, can I flash a 4.0.3 stock rom, and then wipe data/factory reset ? I really want CM9 (the latest version, with 4.0.4) installed on it, as I like the stock android feel...

Don't worry, the insane chip will only cause a brick when you try to wipe data/factory reset when using the stock CWM on 4.0.4 ROM's. Your on 4.1 so your fine.
As for the bugs concerning CM10, please remember that they are still in nightly and no Release Candidate has been made yet.
If you have any concerns, drop a message in the CM10 thread, someone will be able to help you better there.

Allright, allright just to make it clear..
I'm about to Root my S2 (4.0.4) included with superSU but no root. I'm using this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
But got just one question. After i installed cwm and rooted it, am i available to unroot by just going on SuperSU and choosing unrooting option?
Because i don't want a root anymore on 4.0.4 ..

If you don't want to root anymore then don't ROOT at all.
If you want to root, simply flash a custom kernel via Odin. I recommend Speedmod or Siyah kernel

I don't want but the problem is i can't delete the SuperSU app which is in system that's why i need to root to delete the .apk
But just one more question i know i'm kinda noob haha.. But if i flashed a custom kernel like Siyah (and deleted the .apk) am i available to update upcoming updates no problems after that right?

1. If you flash a custom kernel, you will still have root but you will be 100 % safe from the brick bug. You can still get updates
2. If you are only rooted, it will not brick your device. So there is no need to unroot
3. The most important thing is:
DON'T USE CWM RECOVERY , unless you've flashed a custom kernel

First, Use the method. When you are done with rooting, let me know.
Don't attempt to do anything else, until i tell you to do so

there is no chance of bricking. When you are done, don't do anything in recovery, just report here.
Method 1 should work fine.
Alternatively, if you are so scared, just flash a custom kernel via Odin
