First, Use the method. When you are done with rooting, let me know.
Don't attempt to do anything else, until i tell you to do so

there is no chance of bricking. When you are done, don't do anything in recovery, just report here.
Method 1 should work fine.
Alternatively, if you are so scared, just flash a custom kernel via Odin

Why do you want to flash CF-ROOT?
Have you seen this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242

[Q] 4.0.4

Hi, i just got a new s2 on orange, plugged it into kies and it updated to 4.0.4. I want to root this phone to get rid of all oranges annoying bloatware but have just read somewhere about the latest update causing phones to hard brick. Has anybody rooted their s2 after the 4.0.4 official upgrade and if so can you please give me a link to the kernel i need, build is BVLPC. thanks in advance
Try to use search button mate.

There are some safe kernels you can flash over stock that will root without the brick bug. Using Odin you can flash siyah, neek, speed mod and probably others without breaking your new phone!

[Q] Haptic Feedback not working after waking from sleep/standby mode

Hi,
I rooted my phone recently and flashed the latest Siyah Kernel* on it and installed the complementing ExTweaks app. I hadn't played with the settings on ExTweaks, but I've noticed my haptic feedback has gone a bit funny and stopped working. It would be fine when I reboot it, but when I put it into standby/sleep mode and wake it up it stops working. I can change the intensity of the vibrations using ExTweaks, which would get it to work but if I rewake it, it would stop again. So I can gather that it's a software issue rather than hardware. I've tried getting rid of ExTweaks and rebooting the phone but the problem still persists.
Anything (other than flashing the stock ROM) I can do to make it work again?
Thanks.
* (I tried to flash a stock kernel after flashing CF-Root but that bricked my phone so I had to use a microUSB jig to enter download mode, from where I flashed Siyah to get it up and running again. I lost no data and don't know if it's relevant but I thought I'd put this in anyway.)

Thanks for your reply. No I have never performed a factory reset, phone originally had GB, which was upgraded to 4.0 and then 4.0.4 without any resets along the way.

Flashed the stock kernel and that seems to have fixed the problem. Still have root access but no Siyah. Oh well, no need for Siyah... I don't plan on using an unofficial ROM anytime soon.
Thanks for your help Jokesy.

Siyah kernel is good, other kernels are good too. CM10 is good other ROMs are good too.
You need to try them yourself. If you don't like them, flash another kernel/ROM.

CM10 is a ROM.
Siyah is a kernel.
There is no logical way to compare them against each other.

[Q] [HELP] Did something STUPID

Hey guys, I have a S2 (4.0.3) which was rooted. So I'd got a update today which said it was a small change so i thought it would be 4.0.3 still with root access.. Well after i updated my android went to 4.0.4 and my rooted as went gone!
So my question is how can I root my phone again or delete SuperSU
My kernel version: 3.0.15-1056084 [email protected] #3
and baseband: I9100XXLQ6
I coudn't find my kernel to re-root it I used the root app from: lyriquidperfection
Stop asking silly questions that have already been asked over and over again. If you want an answer use the search button, plenty of topics on how to root.
You should also watch this XDA video...

I'm about to Root my S2 (4.0.4) included with superSU but no root. I'm using this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
But got just one question. After i installed cwm and rooted it, am i available to unroot by just going on SuperSU and choosing unrooting option?
Because i don't want a root anymore on 4.0.4 ..

If you don't want to root anymore then don't ROOT at all.
If you want to root, simply flash a custom kernel via Odin. I recommend Speedmod or Siyah kernel

1. If you flash a custom kernel, you will still have root but you will be 100 % safe from the brick bug. You can still get updates
2. If you are only rooted, it will not brick your device. So there is no need to unroot
3. The most important thing is:
DON'T USE CWM RECOVERY , unless you've flashed a custom kernel
