I hv a 64 gb class 6 sd card which has been working fine. However sometimes when I try to install a large file, it won't install it right away. It takes several attempts to get it to install. Why is this happening? I seem to remember someone saying before that titanium back up may be causing it. Can someone please elaborate or could someone please put me on the right path. Thanks

How big of a file are we talking? Most apps are kept below 100mb anyway.

I have a 32gb sd card and I only have 19 gigs of music on it but it says I have 4gb left. I rooted my phone and installed viper ROM also I have the clockwork recovery flashed. I want to format my memory card and put the music back on. Do I have to keep anything else to put back on to it?

Thats more or less up to you. I'd say keep your most recent nandroid. If have games and you had to download the SD files, keep those so you don't have to download them again. Maybe keep the htcwatch portion of the .data folder if you want to keep the Green Hornet movie on your SD. Everything else is usually written to the SD as needed.
Thank you. Okay so I'm probably going to sound stupid here but will it screw up the root?

Not at all.
I have a Samsung Epic 4g and just recently while trying to download third party apps or anything outside of the Android Market I get the error: Memory Card Does Not Exist. Has anybody ever had this error? Please help!!!!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've got the sd card does this before just the restart your phone and see if your sd card is back using a file browser.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea I tried to reboot but still its giving me errors
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Does file explorer find the sd card? Is the sd shown as mounted in the settings?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes it finds it, its just every time I time I try to download something from one of those downloading sites, it just goes to memory card does not exist. Is my sd car corrupted or something?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well you might need to format your sd card, or not use third party markets...
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
How do you reformat your card? Do I lose everything that is saved on my card when I do?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes, a reformat wipes the sd. To reformat you can do it from recovery by mounting sd and formating or from the settings menu

Please download another app from Android market and see if this error also appears.
Thats the weirdest part about this. I can download from the market just fine, its just gives me the memory card does not exist when I go to download a zip from one of those file sharing sites.

Is it possible that the problem comes from the the app itself, maybe you can try another app from the same site or another one from the shared links. It happens to me sometime, and I will just let it go and try something else.
Thats what I thought too but thats not it. It gives me that error whenever I download from any of those file sharing sites. I tried to download Roms, Music, Etc with no luck... It just keeps saying Memory Card Does Not Exist.

So lately I've noticed that my SD card is apparently full, like I'll get warning messages when downloading apps and stuff that the storage space is insufficient. But I know the overall storage space and I haven't used anywhere near that much. And I tried removing two files I didn't need through USB storage, and the space still didn't go up! I'm using cyanogenmod 9 on the Samsung galaxy exhibit 2 4G.

Its your internal storage not your SD card.
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using xda premium
OK, but on app 2 SD it shows around 600 mb internal memory that is still usable. But when I go into what's on the SD card in that same app, it shows 0 free space which is also false. I know that the regular sdcard is the internal memory and ex-sd card or emmc is external. But still I dont have anything in there taking up that much space, app2sd shows that. And I've already dug around in root explorer and I couldn't find any massive data doing this.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
Here, this is what app2sd is showing me.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
OK so I think the problem is that since cyanogenmod doesn't use the regular external SD card folder, and uses the emmc folder instead, that's causing this.

Did you format your sd card as fast 32?
I got it to recognize now, but it the Play Music app doesnt see the music. I set it to On Device Only.
Halp?

Mine came preset as exfat, I left it that way and it works fine.
Why is everyone suggesting fat32?
Mine is exfat and its fine. I figured it all I out. The problem was with Play music. I cleared data and it picked it up great.
Now how can I set everything to download to a specific folder on the sd?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
From what I've read (I could be off-base), exfat is fine for TouchWiz but CM and possibly other AOSP roms will only recognize fat32 (or at least will recognize fat32 but not exfat).
When I tried flashing CM on this phone to test it out, it could not recognize my sdcard which is formatted as exfat but Beans (which is TouchWiz based) reconizes it fine. This would appear to support what I have read but your milage may vary.
Sent from my SCH-I605
just wanted to clear up a couple things...if you flash cwm recovery or a aosp rom then you will need to format the card to fat32...exfat is fine on stock. I was assuming the op was using a custom recovery, my mistake.
Cwm and aosp should get with the program and support exfat. Fat32 has a file size limit of 4gb and exfat does not.
I have around 3gb free of internal storage. How is everyone managing their storage? Are yall using any apps to delete cache files? Refer to the pic for what my storage looks like.

Not many big apps installed eh?
Install a couple big games and watch internal storage go bye-bye. So much for letting the OS do its thing.
I use DirectoryBind to redirect big apps to my sdcard. App isn't perfect, but it works.

Actually I thought I had a decent amount of apps installed. I have 16 games but I dont play the big ones usually since I hate most on screen controls. Thanks for the app though.

Storage analyser or grid size free are both great Apps to see what is taking up your space.

Some larger games have the option within the game itself; Bard's Tale for example. The option was offered when downloading the 1.8 GB datafile. The game still partly installs to the internal sdcard.

How'd you get Miscellaneous files so low? I have system memory in miscellaneous files. That can't be moved can it?
Not sure, but it may be because I am on Sprint and have android 4.1.1. If you notice, my 16 GB internal memory is reported as 10.95 GB. The other screenshots from VZW report the full 16 GB.
