Ok so Ive been playing Draw something on my Prime with just my finger and i figured i would get better results with a stylus.
before buying one I borrowed a friends Targus stylus to try it out and to my surprise, my experience didn't change at all with the stylus.
i was really disappointed with how the stylus interacted with the Primes touch panel. so many times i tried to draw a curved line nice and tight wouldn't result in skips and breaks in the line as if i lifted the stylus from the panel but i didn't.
i went back to my buddy and had him open draw something on his iPad2 and we used the same stylus to draw on his touch panel and it was like night and day difference i couldn't believe it.
now before i start thinking that the Primes touch panel isn't as sensitive to stylus's as the ipad I need to ask a few questions.
first, do you think the targus stylus (has a rubber flexible rounded tip) is more streamlined for the iPad and that is why it didn't work the same on my Primes touch panel?
Or are the Primes touch panels just not as sensitive as the iPad in regards to interacting with stylus's?
I know a lot of people stylus's and if there was a sensitivity problem we would have heard or read about it by now so its possible I need to find a stylus that is designed specifically for the Primes touch panel?
Download touchscreen tuner off the market. It is designed to fix the stylus issue.

I made quite a few post replies about this hehe. Here is some info about it:
Hand Writting test. I just copied someone elses post with my prime using the Touchscreen settings, settings in there if you wanna see them and try them.
I posted almost the same thing here too
For people that haven't seen this:

This is for people that were trying to decide between the G2 and N5.
This just confirms what we already know but I thought people might wanna see this.

Totally. The good thing is that a port will be a lot easier since all of the component's are the same, save for the camera. But it still has the OIS.
8mp, 2300 mah.... move along, nothing to see here
Hopefully it speeds up development... I was expecting a few ROMs to be out already, even at this stage.

Few roms would be nice IF they all had different features to add. Right now we have multiple roms that are very similar... I hope to see a lot of built in mods/xposed framework
Our big problem is the following:
The Nexus 5 will have normal volume/power keys (i.e at the side of the device). I'm pretty certain that because of this, it will have no Knock-ON feature.
Even if it will be easy to port the Nexus 5 Kitkat stock ROM to the LG G2, I don't think any G2 owner here will trade the Knock-ON feature for KitKat.

KnockON is great, but it isn't really anything revolutionary. I love the feature, especially with the back buttons, but I also had similar functionality back with my GNex. I believe the modification is in the kernel, so I don't really see a reason that we won't be able to have it on AOSP roms. Am I missing something?
Knock knock will not be a feature of Nexus 5 irrespective of the placement of volume keys.

Whoa whoa whoa. I wouldn't say trade people wouldn't want to trade the Knock-On feature for KitKat. We don't know what kind of features will be in KitKat. Who knows there could be something really cool.
I think what you were trying to say is does any G2 owner willing to trade their G2 for a Nexus 5 just to get KitKat early in November. I think the answer is NO but we all still want the KnockOn feature with KitKat ideally and it should come in early 2014.

Depends on what 4.4 has to offer, it may be minor update for all we know. Plus we can flash back and forth between the two roms all day long.... also how long will it take for another dev to make a similar feature? If not we will have to see what 4.4 has to offer

No matter what KitKat has to offer, Knock-ON is a necessity for many of us. For example, how will you turn the device ON when situated in the car holder, or while you run and it's in an arm-band, or even if it's just on the desk ?
The G2 without the Knock-ON feature becomes a severely crippled device.

First off it may bother some but I could live without... plus you can always use apps like:

My point was, that if you want KitKat ASAP with your G2, your best bet would be a Nexus 5 ported ROM. But, by going this route, I predict you'll lose Knock-On.

That's very interesting. If this solution is as battery efficient as Knock-ON (or better), then this is an excellent alternative.

I don't understand what the big deal is about knock on... I remember when I had my gnex someone here on the xda forums developed an app that could use gestures with the screen off to wake or to open certain apps... Just check out the "tap tap app" in the market... Surely one of our devs could incorporate this into a rom?

I just tried the "tap tap app" on an older phone and it doesn't work out as nice as Knock On. It doesn't seem to turn off or on the phone with two taps like I expect it would. I would strongly not recommend the "tap tap app" be baked into the ROM. It is not stable enough.
I am certain that the Knock-On feature is a *hardware* feature and not a simple software feature. Of course it can be implemented in software, but at the expense of significantly increased battery usage (the capacitive touchscreen must stay on). It's kind of like implementing active (on-screen) notifications in software, versus optimizing the hardware for it (like it is in the Moto X). Battery life would drop significantly in a software-only solution.

Decisions...
Noob here but have lurked for a while...
Have an opportunity to buy a week old t-mo LG G2 for $420 and am trying decide whether to buy it or wait for the N5; would be my first android phone coming from nokia 920 and many iphones before that, though i do have a 2012 nexus 7; looking for some advice on which to choose...
This thread is simply to count the people who have the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 so the dev's will realize how popular (or unpopular) the device is. I've had the HAM 2 since it came out and have been waiting for rooting methods to come out, but I can't find ANY info on it.
I came from the OnePlus forums, and just recently made my account here so don't hate if I did something wrong, just let me know.
Got one as well....i really like this phone but i'm waiting for that kit kat hopefully
Had mine about 4 weeks now
You can have my HAM2, when you pry it from my cold dead fingers!
I love this thing!
Mine 3 days old
Still on the first charge lol. My iPhone 5s has only -4hrs screen time, the HAM2 is a beast.
It is not all about processor as long as it has no lag one bit and not one app crashed on mine.
For $299 and get $30 T mobile unlimited all prepaid plan, I just wish I can cancel my grandfathered unlimited plan on at&t. Never turn my wifi ON and every month Minimum of 20gb data
I just don't know yet how to mirror my netflix on HAM2 to my chromecast?

To mirror the entire phone display I'm pretty sure you need to have a separate adapter just for that.
The only way to cast a chrome tab (from a phone) is to enable a setting only available in KitKat. Just another reason to find a Root+ROM.

I think we may need a bounty to get root! We've already started thinking about it in the old P6/Mate 1 thread. Anyone else in?!

I registered just to voice my support for this phone. And I use the case that came with my preorder though I do have the black back.

Root plz. I really miss screencasting.
I have had this phone since it launched in the US. I love it, but I wish that it could be rooted.
It could be rooted, it just seems that we need to pitch in for a bounty so that a developer could do it for us.
There doesn't seem to be any developers on our phone, and none of the existing root methods for any other phone exists.
Got one when released in the US.

I dont really understand how that is supposed to work though.
I ordered and received the Space Shield case today. Quality is okay from a case perspective, but the quality of the art on the back is done really well.
The live wallpaper and general setup of the case is done through an app called Live Case that's hosted by Google Marketing in the Play Store (not where the rest of Google's apps are hosted). There doesn't appear to be any other way to get the live wallpaper without it (yet).
I haven't seen the wallpaper during the day, but so far the night mode is pretty neat. The most flexibility you can get out of the button is to have it open an app for you, which I've assigned to a custom App Factory app from Tasker.
I'll probably use it for a few days and then go back to one of my other cases. I'm not a Skrillex fan either, I just thought the idea was cool.
Why doesn't Google actually sell cases that protect your phone? I don't understand that.

Yes, a little, but not much at all.
Locked screen launching is a negative.

Just setup my phone and it appears that there maybe screen bleed on either side of the display. It's really noticeable, especially on the home screen either side of the Google search bar and also any icons on the outer edge of the display.
If you grab an icon and drag it up and down the side of the display, you can see a small line of light from the icon on the outer edge of the display where it joins the aluminium frame.
Me and my bro both got the same model and same colour (S9+ coral blue, uk) and it's the same on both.
Just wondering whether it maybe the releftion from the frame as it protrudes more than the S8+ I'm using now. Also the finish of the fame is a different colour and finish.
Anybody else noticed this at all?
Well seen as how no body has replied thought I'd show a video.

It's easy to see what the issue is. So regardless of the video not being a cinema experience, it clearly demonstrates the problem with the light bleed.
Having a look around seems that the issue has been seen on S8, S8+ and the note 8. There are other videos of the issue on YouTube just not with the S9+
Crap, I have the same problem.
Edit:
I did some digging and found out that this is not an issue. This is only reflection.
I installed Check My Pixels 2 and noticed that the "light leak" was reflecting the same color from the app.

I quoted the guy above me. I'm not saying anything is wrong with the video. I've seen the issue first hand. That's why I posted a pic of my note 7.

So much for sticking up for you.. Lol

I'm not gonna lie but this comment is about as bad as it gets. Smh
Nothing is wrong with the video and this issue is more than just a few bad ones. It's been on all their phones work curved screens. I don't understand why you are putting down the OP'S video and post over a real concern. More people need to be aware of it. I bet it's more widespread than you realize. People just don't know what to look for or never notice it. You set a great example for being a senior member in xda

Sorry my bad, the reply wasn't aimed at you. I appreciate your comments.
I agree with your comments especially in regards to not knowing what to look for. My brother didn't even notice it until I shown him.
I've read about it being the way the light reflects with the curved display, I have my S8+ now an it doesn't have the same
Issue. It's really distracting once you notice it especially if your in a dim lit environment.[/QUOTE]
No problem. Hope your guys get a good replacement. I know for me, mine was more than just a reflection.

It's easy to see what the issue is. So regardless of the video not being a cinema experience, it clearly demonstrates the problem with the light bleed.
Having a look around seems that the issue has been seen on S8, S8+ and the note 8. There are other videos of the issue on YouTube just not with the S9+

That's definitely something that is a real concern. Don't see it! Don't notice it. But it's there! Ahhhhh

Most people just throw a case on and that'll block the screen bleed. So, there's your can't see it and will never notice it. Look at the pic I posted. That's acceptable for a $900 plus phone? You can be a so called funny guy all you want. I don't care any further to look at or respond to your ignorance. If the glass and frame have the slightest gap you can see the light bleed through the sides. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5zg1zqqkb0ry9cm/IMG_20160820_051305.jpg?dl=0

AMOLED can't have light bleed. Light bleed is the backlight of an LED or LCD screen shinning through. Normally thru the sides or corners. What your seeing is the same thing you would see if you take any phone and tilt it to the same angle as the edge displays. Your seeing the glass and reflection in that glass at a different wave length I find it funny that your calling me ignorant while trying to argue an issue that the phone can't have. A simple Google could have saved you that trouble.
