So I've had my HP Touchpad since August, idly sitting on my shelf collecting dust. I'm so eager to get Android running on it asap.
My question to fellow Android and Touchpad users is whether I should go ahead and install Alpha 3 or wait for the stable version? And if I do install the Alpha, will I be able to update it to the stable one if and when it releases?

I installed cm7, and then xRonified over that. I've had no problems, except self-induced ones. . CyanogenMod is working on ICS and won't update Cm7 any longer. xronified, now at vB1. 3 has been stable for me when I'm using android.
My use webos/android is about 65/35. Dual booting is great!!
I dont think we'll even see a "stable" one soon, it will probably come with the ICS port and that's not even in our hands yet.
Go ahead and install Alpha 3 or the latest Xron Rom, most, if not all Android features work properly, except that Gingerbread is really unwieldy on a 10 inch device and is not suited for tablets.
It works well enough for most functions and apps though
Well I would recommend messing around with WebOS and loading preware on it. It won't bite, I promise
If you're familiar with *nix then there is a full terminal and all. It's pretty versatile, and after the system updates it runs pretty smooth. Plus with HP making it open source, there will hopefully be some nice WebOS based ROMS on the horizon as well.
I'm holding out for a good Android ROM as well. But WebOS isn't bad to tide you over for a while either

Agreed. ICS will not be out for a while, and from what I've been told, it'll be flakey once we do get it. Install Alpha3 or Xron, and start playing with it.
You have nothing to lose by installing it and if you don't like it in its current state you can always remove it.
I recommend the xron ROM, its more polished and quite frankly I have no real issues to speak of, everything basically works...like someone else said though running gingerbread on a tablet has its shortcomings but nothing a little tweaking does't help remedy

I have played around with the WebOS when I first got it but found it lacking a lot of things - mainly apps - if you mean preware. I loved how smooth things were though.
I think I will go ahead and install xron since its getting positive reviews. Thanks for the input from everyone!

I second the Xron recommendation. It's good enough that most people won't have problems with it.
I also recommend trying out Task Changer from the market to get some swipe to task switch action on Android.
Running Alpha 3 and no issues except occasional WiFi. Thinking about XRON but not sure if we can move from Alpha 3 to XRON and still keep the apps, games & settings done in Alpha 3 though. Any suggestions?
So apparently after reading a lot of sites, I have to install Alpha 3 and then install Xron on top of that. Grr for more work!

So pretty much I can install Xron on top of my current Alpha 3 and retain all my current data?
The only issue I am seeing right now is that when i plug a pair of headphones on the device the sound cuts off. Not sure if this is due to the Rom or a hardware issue with my device (Refurb from the ebay sale).

CM9 Nightly for Prime now available...has anyone tried this yet? I'm tempted to give it a whirl, but may wait for braver souls to give it a try first and report their findings...
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=tf201
All the d/l links on the page http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=tf201 seem to be broken atm
you're right...didn't try that before posting that it was available. With the recent announcements of nightlies being available for other devices, probably just a matter of time before they get to us
Old news... been up for well over a month now.
Sent from my CM7 Atrix 4G
The date of the new build is for the 29th, its 12.33am on the 30th here in Australia. I hope they merged the 4.0.4 AOSP code into it.
I'll be back in 8 hours after a snooze, it would be sweet if the links were fixed by then. I've been hanging for cm to update the tf201 nightlies. The one before yesterdays was just under a month ago..

dude, there's a new build for the 29th...
All I am hoping for is that the keyboard dock at least works. Like, no soft keyboard pops up on dock use. If it has that, I have a new DD for my TF201.

[Edit] this begins running at 1.2ghz. using the cpu_overclock.bin from the TFP AOKP section by Jermaine cranks it up to 1.6...aaaand now it's perfect...really running great so far. minor market issues with compatibility but that's about all I can find. anything to look out for/test??

are you rooted, unlocked and running the latest CWM recovery?
if so, take my first post, fill in the gaps for the link to the direct CM server, download the rom. transfer rom and latest ICS gapps (3/17) to your internal storage. boot into recovery, wipe, flash.
These seem to be working.

Unlock bootloader
Install CWM Recovery
Nandroid Backup
Wipe data/factory reset & dalvik wipe in CWM
Flash CM9 zip
Flash latest ICS Gapps version
Reboot

Its been decided that we won't use Cornerstone for the foreseeable future. The underlying implementation is not flexible and needs a lot of work.
It is 4.0.4. I forgot to get GAPPS before flashing, so Im downloading that now. It looks to be very AOSP right now. Will update in a minute
Edit- Having a issue with WiFi. I set it up and it works fine. I restart the tablet and it cannot connect and is stuck at "Turning on Wireless". Rebooting again has no effect. Toggling Airplane mode also has no effect.
Edit 2- Dock is working like it does with the AOKP- volume, lock, media, back button, and browser work, the other shortcut keys dont. It charges from the dock. Cameras work fine. Brightness works, but no IPS switch (duh). Overall, very promising! I hope the nightlies continue!

Hi,
I have just bought a SGS3, and want to give my old S2 to my wife.
She loves CM on her S1, and wants it on the S2 (I actually stayed with stock..lol)
I am best putting CM7 onto the phone, or are their any stable CM9's out at present?
I just want the least hassle / complaints from her, however would like to keep it on ICS.
Thanks.
Latest CM9 nightly (I've never had any dramas with any CM9 nightly), but if you want something that will give you minimal issues guaranteed (and minimal you playing tech support), might want to stick to stock ICS. Some people have little issues with different custom roms (normally attributable to setup/use), tho many people don't.
I'd play safe given it's not your phone & you don't want to create work for yourself ;-)
Thanks for the reply, will try out the latest nightly...if it give her issues will revert back to stock. Thanks.
No probs ;-) Sounds like a good WTG.

As much as I love reading through threads on XDA, I just dont have much time reading every Dev thread here. I will be getting an Atrix in the coming days to replace my Dell Streak. The reason why I cannot read through all the thread is because Ive been on and off with like 4 different droids and just cant waste so much time reading through all the threads, Ive already burnt all the time I had to waste.
So If anyone could just give the name of the ROM which they think is the most stable at this moment, I would be very greatful. As I need a stable ROM to fall back on when I try all the new ones coming out.
Thanks in advance!

do note that once you switch to CM7, you will lose the webtop functionality.

Atrix allows you to dock the phone to a lapdock which transform it into something like a netbook.
the lapdock has a 11.6" screen, keyboard, 2 USB ports and doubles as an extended battery.
Google for pictures/videos and more details.

It's working great for me. I mean, I have little requirements. Facebook, Twitter, Browser, XDA app, camera (not video), wifi, 3g.. they're all working great for me. It's stable for my needs. You can give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always use Neutrino
Just remember that not all apps would work. Chrome, for example, is forever crashing on the Atrix due to the lag of hardware acceleration.

Using Neutrino here. Really great performance-wise. I gave up CM9´s roms ATM because i need a fully functional camera and even though the situation got better now, it still buggy. Neutrino is my daily driver though.
Once again, thanks for all of your info! I really appreciate it. Ill be getting my Atrix today in just a few hours

I flashed CM7 to my Atrix 4G earlier this week and it is stable. I spent many hours reconfiguring and testing after the change to ensure the phone will be stable for work. I think it will be and do not plan to make any more major changes until the end of the year unless something catastrophic happens.
The phone has not crashed and boots 5x faster than stock (30s - 35s from button down). Bluetooth connects within one or two seconds compared to 5s - 10s before. Wifi performance has remained unchanged, sometime up to 30s to fix but I have only tried on my old, home router. GPS lock is 10s - 15s indoors, maybe a slight performance increase. Camera loads quick. No hesitation when typing (after the last upgrade I was seeing a lot of that).

I'd say CM7.2 last stable release.
Better then any other ROM i tried, and i tried them all
I'd like neutrino 2.8 EE too, rock solid since launch

No, Neutrino is CM7 based and webtop does not exist on any such roms (or any ICS roms).
Furthermore , the old Webtop is likely to become permanently dead. We will have to figure out how to use the tablet mode based webtop in the future.

"Best" is subjective. The most popular Blur-based ROM still seems to be NottachTrix; unfortunately, the latest version (1.3.1) is also the last version, as Nottach no longer supports it (he no longer owns an Atrix). There are a few other Blur-based ROMs that seem to still be in active development, but I haven't really been following them (I use CM7.2).
I have been on CM's forums and there has been reports of a lot of bugs with the CM10 on sg3, and some seem to be very major issues such as no cell reception and delayed UI. Are these problems fixable after installing the ROM? Or do i have to revert back to stock or use another ROM?
Also I noticed that there are daily updates for CM10 is it necessarily to update each time...?
One last thing, if i have the international version of SG3 from who would i get the android 4.1 update from when it comes out? (my provider?) And would i be able to install it with CM10 installed?
Thanks.

CM10 for S3 has only been out of "Alpha" (manual builds only) for a few days and uses reverse-engineered technology since Samsung's Jellybean sources have not yet been released. It's quite stable for everyday usage (most people who complain about issues have not followed the install steps) but is NOT what you consider a stable enduser rom. Give it a few more weeks...

cm10 IS Android 4.1.1 Jellybean.
It is a different rom than Samsung-official, so you won't get updates from your provider but from Cyanogenmod obviously.
