Hello!
I'm begging You to help me with this issue!
I don't have so much knowledge with network/wifi issues...
So to start here... I have a samsung galaxy s 2 and I also bought a home cinema HT-E5500 (samsung) wich have wifi, dlna, wifi direct and allshare feature.
I'm struggling for days to use the wifi direct and the allshare feature and cant find an answer even on many forums....
I have a "cursed" belkin f5d7234-4-h v5 router... The home cinema and SII (ICS4.04) have the latest updates...
At the direct wifi: I enable it on the phone and than I search devices on the home cinema... I find the SII and I connect them (it says connected to SII and on SII it says its connected to home cinema) but when I try to send a photo music or video through wifi direct from the phone I cant find any device in the list...
What could it be? They don't use the router here and they also CONNECT to each other but I cant send files....
At AllShare feature: I connect both devices to the router: ( in the router settings at LAN > DHCP Client List I can only see my SII listed although the home cinema is on and surfing the web) I enter allshare from home cinema and when I open allshare from SII it says again no device found...
I don't understand the problem... The devices aren't broken since both can surf the web....
I also read the manual for home cinema and SII and followed every steps...
I also want to mention that I my PC is connected through wire to the router and I tried the kies, allshare, and share manager softwares without success... They dont detect the device....
I also tried to connect the home cinema wired to the router and try allshare with SII but, without success.
Should I forward some ports on the router??? If yes... What are they and on wich IP address should I forward them??
(I saw some suggestions on some forums but without specifying the IP address)
Please.. If someone have suggestions on what else should I try please don't hesitate.... I'm searching for an answer for days.
Thank You,
Alex

Please anyone... at least a suggestion on what should I try...
I'm expert by no mean, but it seems to me that allshare play won't work via direct wifi. Devices need to be connected to teh same wifi network, but not direct wifi.
I might be wrong, I'm experiencing myself.

Hi all,
I got problem with internet connection on my HD2 (ROM 1.48). There are 2 ways I connect to the internet - WIFI and GPRS. GPRS connection works fine - I can download and read e-mails, make backups with MyPhone, update weather information, etc. But when I connect to the internet with WIFI, there are only 2 things I can do. I can browse web pages with Opera and update Twitter messages. But I can´t download e-mails, make backups, update weather information, etc. When I try to update or backup something, there is connection error (through that connection between phone and router is fine and web pages are running).
It seems to me like most of applications want to connect to internet via GPRS only. Is there any way to set up (or check) the phone to connect to the internet via WIFI when it is turned on?
Thanks for any advice
Sorry cant help but agree - it would be fantastic if there was some way of knowing / controlling when it used GPRS data and when it uses wifi. When wifi availabe obviously would rather use that than be charge a small firtune for data.
Any one out there about to help with this??
Internet browsing
Ditto. I can - after HUGE effort - connect WiFi but I cannot browse the internet using either Opera or IE. 2 year old Nokia connected and browsed literally within 2 secs! Also, the phone keeps connecting via GPRS all the time even with data connections off. Can anyone help? Thanks PS I know it's unproductive & forgive me, but I have to get this off my chest: this is the worst cellphone I've ever owned. Bluetooth doesn't work, internet doesn't work, handsfree car kit doesn't work. Does anything work?

correction, YOUR Bluetooth doesn't work, YOUR internet doesn't work, YOUR handsfree car kit doesn't work.
Get it exchanged. (if they genuinely dont work)
@others, go to settings menu all settings connection connections advanced select networks.
there are two dropdowns, in teh top one should be the name of your mobile data, , this is what automatic progs will use to connect to the web, in teh bottom one it should be 'the internet' (or sometimes 'my work network'), meaning they use wifi if available, and data if not.
(At least thats how they should work....)
If you set the top one the same as teh bottom one, nothing should try to use mobile unless wifi is not connected.
Could be a proxy problem? some operators set up a proxy, which can screw with connections.
samsamuel: Thank you for your advice. I´ve tried it - in both dropdowns I got "my work network", but no success.
I´ve found something interessting. When I turn on YouTube client (using WIFI), I can´t play videos. That should be ok when I got problem with internet connection. But YouTube client shows on the welcome screen preview of today´s added videos. So the question is why should application download preview of video, but it can´t play the video? I´m a little bit confused
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had tried that already and it did not work. I don't think it is just my cellphone. There are many comments re the HD2 that make it clear that it does not work with a Parrot handsfree carkit, Motorola S9 headset etc, and the 2 earlier posts reveal problems using WiFi too. It seems to be problematic on many fronts. I cannot even connect it using Windows Mobile via an USB port! And while I appreciate all suggestions it seems to me that this model is a (very expensive) lemon and frustrates huge numbers of owners. I find it odd that a 2 year old Nokia N95 can connect and browse instantly and a 'smart phone' doesn't work at all. I find it to be very gimmicky. I don't need twitter, facebook etc. I need voice dial, good PC software (like Ovi and PC suite) and bluetooth that works etc. The HD2 has none of this, but great graphics of a windscreen wiper, exactly the sort of pointless gimmick that reveals that the designers were interested in making a toy and not a useful phone.
I suggest you try and install "HTC_Wi-Fi_onDemand_by_Krocher". This program will always use wifi when available and stop the GPRS from connecting and will also keep your wifi on a stand-by. Please do read through the thread as you have to make sure that no programs using wifi are activated when you want it to be off. For me it solved several problems with wifi.
Second thought is to upgrade to one of the much more stable and already tweaked OS's. There are quite a lot out and you'll find everything about that on this forum as well.
Last thought, if it does not work it must be something to do with either the settings or the OS version as for others it works absolutely fine. These are complicated phones that, much like computers, must be set and tweaked to the correct settings in order to get the best out of them. If you just want a "buy and run" phone this is not the one.
Success,
Itamar

Is your device getting a local IP assigned, usually 192.168.x.x but sometimes larger wifi networks like a college will assign something else. If other devices are having issues it sounds like you should contact the IT at your college as it may be their issue.
yaa its obtaining ip address its 172.21.#.# but not connecting tries again today
please help
you should contact your network administrator to check your network set up and to see if the wireless router doesn't have any parameters
At my University, there's a verification page one gets redirected to whenever he/she tries to access the internet with an unknown (to the school) device. Here, one must register his/her device with the network before being promoted to whitelist and being able to access anywhere outside the local network. Check your college's IT page or something to see if you have one of those, and try pointing your browser to the verification page. Your phone's browser may not be redirecting to this page correctly.
Hi Everyone
How to send a file from prime by wifi direct to galaxy s2 or from s2 to prime?
Both devices recognized each other but when I want to share a file by ez file explorer or quickpic nothing hapends (s2 once again is searching devices but can't find it
I've read that the problem is ICS, it has API for wifi direct but no app for data sharing
Thx for answer
But on .21 I couldn't even find my galaxy s2 via Wifi direct. On .28 I found it and even I connectet this two devices.
On s2 (ICS) there is an optin in share settings (send via Wifi direct) but in Prime isn't.
Maybe this is a problem...
Really? I've been able to connect my devices but no option for file sharing, both on prime and GS2.Which rom are you running on galaxy? Where you have found this option?
Go to esfile explorer or quickpic...share option and there is option Wifi direct but when I push this it says - 0 devices. I press search for devices. It finds my Prime...cennecting but then nothing happends
I'm on stock ICS 4.0.3 XXLPQ
I've tried both with quickpic and es (and stock gallery, root explorer) but no option for wifi sharing..
I'm running cyanogen 9 05062012
Hi I can confirm that wifi direct does work since latest firmware but does not seem to be fully functional,as mentioned maybe requires a wifi share app.
Have tested with Prime and Galaxy S3 both stock. When i say work ,I can send from S3 to Prime no problem but can't send from Prime to S3 as no wifi direct share icon appears in any apps drop down share menu .Gallery ,quickpic etc same as yourself.
All i did was turn wifi direct on on both and scanned both devices fond each other then option to connect appeared on both devices. Tried from Prime first to send a pic from gallery but as stated no share appeared. So tried same from S3 worked a treat with pics and a 1080hd clip received on Prime.
I was thinking maybe on prime going though the my net app but haven't tested it yet to see if the options built into it.
Ive been working with the android development kit trying to get Wifi-Direct functionality on the prime. There is certainly more functionality in .28 than there was in .21, but there is still not a complete Wifi-Direct implementation stack.
There is a WifiDirectDemo app in the r14 and r15 ADK packages which hooks into the Wifi-Direct APIs to manage connections with peers, and send/receive fails. It works great on my GS3, I can connect to peers and send files, the TF201 will accept the connection, but cannot receive the files.
If I run the demo app on the TF201, it can list peers, but will not connect to them.
If I create a connection from the GS3 to the TF201, then run the WifiDirectDemo app on the TF201, it lists the established connection to the GS3, but will not let me send anything because it hangs on "Connecting to socket" or "Waiting for socket connection" or something along those lines.
This indicates to me that ASUS has not fully implemented the whole Wifi-Direct stack, only partially.
Hello everybody,
I've reached the end of my knowledge. Both my GT-P7510 and I9300 with ICS 4.0.4 have the Samsung MobilePrint app installed, none of them would see my Samsung CLX-3175N printer. The printer is wired to a router, both mobile devices acces internet through this very router with absolutely no problem. The PC (Win7) is also wired to the router and works with the printer like a charm.
Now, none of the mobile devices "sees" the printer, nor would they accept the IP entered manually. I tried everything so far, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on the pc, changed the IP, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, even done a hard reset on the tab (according to tech support from Samsung. Note that I WAS able to print from the tab, back when the tab had Honeycomb on it. All software is stock, legal, nothing rooted... maybe that is the reason why it won't work.
Has anyone any idea how to solve the problem, besides using another app?? And if not, what other app would you recommend? Has anyone the same infrastructure?
Thanks in advance
Team,
I would have thought that this was easy but the more I look into it, the more complicated it seems. Simply, I want to be able to stream from my Android device to a TV. Specifically, I wan't to be able to access my SkyGo account and stream it to a hotel TV. I bought the EZcast dongle and this seems to work it should but once you select it as the AP, of course, the main WiFi connection is lost and so is the stream. Is there another way of looking at this to achieve my goals or is it a lost cause?
Thanks

Once you are connected to the EZCast AP, in theory you should then via the device's settings menu be able to tell it to connect to the hotel wifi to restore your internet connectivity (and so be able to stream from the net again). From a quick look on the net you should be able to select the "wifi network" option in the EZCast app and then use that to make the connection onward (to bridge the EZCast wifi to the hotel one).
Alternatively you may be able to set things up by doing a direct browser connection to the EZCast via your web-browser of choice and the IP address of the device as displayed on the TV once you are connected to it (if it has a web interface - I don't have one here at hand to confirm).

Thanks for this. It's a few weeks since I gave up on the "dream" but your note has given me a shove to have another look.
I'll report back.

Did you check Google Chromecast key?
I don't know if it's compatible with the app you use but this could do the trick
