I presently have Tesla Coil 1.7 on my phone and have not updated ANYTHING since that flash last July of 2011.
I'd really like to change my mod to LiquidSmooth, but I am unsure of how to properly do it now that I've been out of the loop for a year or so. Do I just download the rom, reboot holding the volume key and flash like old times? Or is there a new way?
Will this also put me up to date with the latest and greatest radio?
My best to all who help.

Download Rom, put onto sd card whereever u want, completely turn phone off, hold down (-) volume button and power button at same time this should take you to the bootloader. Use the volume button to go to recovery and press the power button. When in recovery make a backup then format data. Install zip from sd card then wipe cache when install and dalvik wipe and fix permissions. Then reboot

605.19 is fine if your using Gingerbread or ICS Rom
I booted into clockwork, backup, wipe data, cache, davlik, then installed from sdcard.
On first boot, I sat for about 15 minutes with nothing happening. So I pulled the battery, booted back into clockwork wiped davlik and data again and rebooted. Still unable to boot into the rom.
Any thoughts?
Wipe data 3x, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. Then flash the ROM. Reboot and enjoy.

i don't know why that didn't work i only wipe once and it works try re-downloading the rom
For some reason I thought to upgrade clockwork. I apparently was only on version 3.x.x.x. So after upgrading that, remaking a backup, and reflashing, things are working awesome!
ICS is leaps and bounds above gingerbread.
Thanks for all the help! Any thing else I can do to help this bad boy along?
Update superuser binary and busybox binary if you have busybox installed.
Have you updated the radio?

superuser is for root permissions and if you are upgrading to ics use the new leaked radios i tested them out and they work completely fine.

That's good.
Open the superuser app, scroll a page to the left and click in the middle. Let it check for updates. If it has any updates, just let it update.
But you're basically set.

Try to clear cache under applications for the market. But you should ask this at the rom thread....

Flashed this rom (and kernel) and now I am not able to get past the TBolt boot screen with the thunder. Hung there for over 2 mins.
-I flashed the kernel with hboot
-installed the ROM with CWR (rom manager) 3.0.2.4
-also cleared the download cache in Rom Manager, deleted and reflashed the recovery.
Still hangs...

usually best practice is, wipe data X2, wipe cache X2, wipe dalvik cache X2, then flash the rom, fully boot the rom, go back to Hboot and flash the kernal.
I believe they are saying to NOT wipe 1.1 for this ROM? I could be wrong. I think they said to just flash OVER the current 1.1, as wiping will cause it to hang on the cloud screen. I think that's the lastest from that 30+ page thread .

what do you mean you lost root... hboot no longer shows S-Off?
and my bad, I didn't know their second version of the rom was all weird and needed to be flashed over the original.
Hmm just checked hoot still shows s_off but root checker says Su not found in path. Also still getting that weird market error when I try to install anything. It downloads just won't install.

you have to have version 1.1 installed first. So you need to wipe data and cache. Flash version 1.1 and reboot. Let it get past the clouds and boot into the rom. go back into cwm and flash 1.2. DO NOT WIPE DATA!!! Wiping cache is fine. If you wipe data you will have problems.
Ok, so I have heard that the MR2 or 2.5 radios work better with CM7 GPS. Is this the correct way to install both on my phone?
1.Download the CM7 ROM (RC1.1) and put it on the SD CARD
2.Download the MR2 or 2.5 and put it on the Sd Card (and rename the file to PG05IMG.zip)
3.Boot into recovery
4.Do a Nandroid Backup.
5.Perform a factory reset
6.Flash CM7, DO NOT REBOOT
7.Using ADB, reboot to bootloader
8.adb shell
9.reboot bootloader
10. Boot into hboot and flash the radio
Also, the dl links for the MR2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115714) or MR2.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127436) are not working for me, I keep getting 404'd. Can anyone else link me?
And is there any way to flash the radio and ROM without having to remove all of my data?
Thanks for your help!
You can boot after installing cm7, you just won't have service until you install the radio. Other than that, you have it right.

I always wipe fully. Never had a problem unless it was a bad download, so be sure to check the MD5 on the files. Also from CWR, goto advanced mounts and storage, and wipe data, system and cache from there as well before you flash.
If it FUBARs, you have your nandroid to go back to.

Is it possible for someone to either pm me a link to the MR2 or 2.5 radios? On the links I posted I keep getting 404'd
Nevermind, got it.
Figured it was worth mentioning that the steps aren't in the right order if you planned to manually boot to recovery since you will already have the radio on there and it will just keep trying to update. If not manually booting it's fine.
Instead of using adb to reboot, I just reboot from the recovery and then pull the battery. Then put the battery back in, hold down the volume(-) button and power button, and it will reboot to the bootloader. Then flash the radio. Either way works. The batter pull method is just easier to do, imo.

Hi,
I successfully rooted my phone using Youtube tutorial without wiping data (revolutionary.io).
After that, I downloaded ROM Manager and tried to flash CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.7. While rebooting at that time, the Cyanogen mod screen appears and nothing happens. I am unable to proceed further and the phone is not booting. The phone is displaying that screen for more than 12 hours now. I tried removing the battery, reboot and nothing worked.
Did it get bricked? Can anyone help me resolving this?
Thanks,
Kala

No! Unfortunately, I didn't take backup.
I am ready forums and help to understand other options but for now, I don't know how to boot into bootloader.
Did you ever run in to this kind of problem?
Sounds like you didn't clear data and cache when it asked before install. You are going to have to clear them and probably have to reinstall from clockwork recovery.

I am able to come to that screen and see different options there (ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.1)! There are 2 options to choose here to wipe:
1) wipe data/factory reset
2) wipe cache partition
Do I need to choose any of them or choose to install zip from sd card?
Thank you very much!
Choose both of those and then install zip from sdcard. Since you downloaded within rom manager it will be buried somewhere in the clockworkmod directory.

It's interesting! I don't see android market place here in this ROM...am I not seeing it right?
Thanks,

If your contacts were synced with your google account they should just auto-populate. You always want to wipe data/cache 3x before you flash a rom.
For legal reasons they don't include the market with their rom. It must be flashed separately.

I've tried to install the LiquidSmooth ICS v1.5 rom and have ended up with no service and data several times. I use rom manager and delete cash. I've also tried Clockworkmod with the same results.
One thing that I was wondering is why I cant access the bootloader menu when I reset. I see the options, but then it blows by and questions me if I want to update or not(this is how I get back to a usable phone after failed rom install attempts). I dont remember how I rooted this phone back when it first came out. I'm just wondering if that has anything to do with my problems.

When you go through that update it brings you back to that firmware? If so it means there is an ruu on the root of your sd.
Also when flashing a new Rom you need to format everything, not just cache. That's why you're having issues.
I also recommend using 4EXT recovery

When installing a new ROM, you should always go through your recovery. I use 4EXT, and it works great. To get to your recovery, ensure that your sdcard is free of any PG05IMG files in the root directory. You should always create a nandroid backup, wipe/format to factory defaults, install your ROM, then wipe cache and dalvik cache. You can then install any flashable zips on top of that.

I have tried a number of times to re-install the rom and have tried to use other roms but all of them seem to end the same way.
I have used:
BAMF FOREVER 1.1
BAMF MECHA ICS
AIRBORNE GOUI
Killsense 3.7.19

few more
My phone is a HTC Thunderbolt and when I attempted to root the phone it had a hboot version of 1.0.8 and had a stock version of ICS installed.

I have tried clearing everything but still doesn't seem to work.
One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes if I wait long enough on the blank screen It boots me back into the 4ext recovery, don't know if that makes much of a difference.
The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

Problem is you were coming from the ICS OTA.
The All In One Tool alone will not get you rooted after taking the OTA.
In order to fully root and s-off after having the OTA loaded, you would need to follow the steps outlined HERE

You can use whatever Recovery you want, Clockwork Mod is old and not really suggested to use, especially with newer roms.
