Goto root

You shouldn't need a Root explorer to access the files on the phone since I have no issues without using a Root explorer maybe he just needs to download and install a file manager from the Google Play Store.

problem with root

hi guys.i use latest cyanogen mod nightly i am rooted ofc but with the default cyanogen file manager and with couple of others i tested i cant move files to root of the sd.i am s-off btw any solutions?
Just drop the file on your SD card, don't put it in a folder, that is the root of your SD card.

first of all thanks for fast response.i want to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111145 so i need to put a file on init.d folder
You will need a File Manager which supports System Folders. That folder cannot be found on your SD Card but on your internal memory. Examples are Root Explorer and ES File Manager. The default File manager and others like Astro wont work.
indeed it worked.thnx a lot

[Q] 2.3 Roms do not recognize sd card

I have an AT&T locked x10a, I'm running 2.1 and it reads my sd card just fine. However as soon as I flash a 2.3 rom (custom or stock) it fails to detect my sd card. However xrecovery still reads it.
As soon as I flash back to 2.1 the OS will detect it just fine.
Any ideas?
i think the permissions of SD card in 2.3 is not assigned properly !! u might check the permissions
Do you mean going into xrecovery and selecting fix permissions?
I have tried that and it didn't work

Oh, yeah I tried using ES file explorer and went to /mnt/sdcard but it was empty.
Edit: Also whenever I flash a new kernel or rom with flashtool the program detects the sd card and reports the correct file size.

How do I view internal sd

Can someone tell me how I can view the internal sd card files please, cant see it on laptop (win7) and also cant see it in the phone, only external appears. Drovers and PC Companion are installed.
If you want to see your SD files on your phone...
- Go to Android market and search "file manager". There are plenty of file manager apps for free on the market. Some popular ones include Explorer and Astro. (I'm using the former) Install one of those applications and you will be able to navigate to your SD card via your phone.
If trying to access SD card via PC...
- After you plug your phone into the USB, a little USB icon should appear on your phone. Tap on it and enable USB connection. Your phone should scan for the SD card files.
The methods said above is clear and i have to add… as far as i know, there is no way to view your internal storage on a computer... but anyway you can just copy the files using a file explorer to the sd card

I am not able to delete files on SD card

hi
I am not able to delete files on my SD card even though i used to work.
probably it is because i copied files using card reader, but does it mean i cant delete files by file manager in phone? how can i delete them with my phone?
i use galaxy s3, es explorer, rooted.
thank you
First, check other explorers (like Root Explorer).
Second- are you able to delete files using card reader? if the answer is yes- see if your SD is encrypted under 'Security' settings

Ways of Accessing SD CARD Data Without Rooting.(in warranty)

Due to Google's Android kitkat restrictions desire 816 users can't modify sd card data . There are some ways like sd fix , modifying platform.xml files etc but all these requires rooting of ur phone , which obviously void ur warranty .
This topic is discussing ways to edit sd card data without rooting so that users who are not opting for root also ACCESS SD CARD DATA .
FIRST ::
1. For FOLDERS Only :-- use the FILE MANAGER which is in Polaris office app . It can only DELETE, COPY ,RENAME the docs file or any FOLDER (Not All Files).
2. Use " SOLID EXPLORER " App from Google play store . It can copy any file from ur internal memory to sd card (external memory). . Though renaming and deleting is not available now ..
If u know any more ways to access data , let us know . ..

Another way .. ( for deleting files ) thanks to DRIODTON for his idea..
3. Go to SETTING - STORAGE - (SD CARD) - Make More Space - and delete the file u want ..In GALLERY u Will find all pics and videos & in MISCELLANEOUS u can delete any file with FOLDER tickets option .

Hmm, I have a different software. Wonder if it used to work but HTC patched it in the software I have which seems to be more recent than the one you have. ?
Any workaround to move/copy files?
No bro .. u have to root only for that
