Which Kernel? - HTC Amaze 4G

What kernel will give me better battery life or who is using what I'm on the Energy Blue ROM and want to have a bit more battery life and do u all find Skype drains it a lot cuz I was at 100% this morning and it dropped to 92% in a 8min vid talk also I have just wallpaper no live wallpaper running?
"It Can't Rain All the Time", sent from my AMAZE 4G/ENERGY

Skype does use a lot of power, that's why I keep it signed out unless needed, try faux kernel and the power saving profile.

To be honest there are like a total of 3 kernels to choose from and 2 of those are for sense 4 leaving you with either stock or faux's kernel if you have ICS...

Faux kernel v21 , Under volt it!! So far so great!

Faux kernel is the BEST!

[Q] Custom froyo Kernel with best battery backup

Can anybody tell me what is the name of the froyo kernel that gives awesome battery backup ? I hav used franco v14/v18/v19 (CFS) & mik's kernel but batt drains out fast. mik's kernel is very very responsive though ! I hav tried wiping batt stats on full change. But it didn't help me out.
LG's kernel & stock froyo ROM was gud but had video playback issues. thr4 had 2 make a leap

You havent mentioned the rom, but from the post you are using froyo. Try the latest kernel of franco, its quite good with battery and mik's kernel was never a battery drainer for me. You should wipe your battery status and report again.
no dear. batt is dropping 1% every 7-10 minutes. btw i am running rom quy now. batt drain also happened in open optimus on franco kernel v19 cfs. i havent tried bfs though

BOOM
Use SE NEO TWEAKED
CM9 is still buggy and not recommended for daily use
yes use sony tweaked its better than cm9
cm9 fxp111 kernel also doesnt work so
sony tweaked is best for now.......
I switched from stock rom to tweaked v0.7 + inteks kernel. I ran this combo during a few months.
When tweaked v1 was released I decided to give it a try. Since v1 fully functional with inteks kernel I also install the nightelf kernel. I didn't really notice performance improvements. But I liked the changed buttons in the notification bar. But I also noticed a serious decrease in battery life. With inteks + tweaked v0.7 I could do 2 days without recharge. With tweaked v1 + and nightelf I needed a recharge after +- 15 hours ...
Maybe this also due to some widgets and such ... But I installed tweaked v0.7 again (kept nightelf for now) and my battery life increased again (+- 36 hours).
...
If i can say...
both of them suck right now... se.tweaked so bad themed so ugly and cm9 would be great but no gsm and buggy
I tried both of these two roms and wat i can say se tweaked is way better, smoother and everything is working pretty good and has gr8 battery life too.on the other hand cm9 is latest android bt battery drain is huge and video camera is bugged.hope this helps enjoy

Best kernel?

Just wondering do kernels make a difference on battery life at all.I find dooms and th japs very similar with battery life.just want to know if someone has tried many kernels for stock based Rom and what they find best.I don't care about overclocking as it causes random reboots imo

I was using champs x10s with complete stock last week to test (v8) it was pretty good I must say. (about a day and a half which is good for my usage)

Weird Im currently using champs kernel seems decent

I think, the difference betweeen the kernels availible for download is not directly related to battery consumption, it is just a matter of features. Some of them are overclocked or undervolted.
As far as I know, it is the choosen governor that makes difference on battery level.
For example :
- Performance governor does set the CPU frequency to the highest one configured
- OnDemande governor increases the frequency regularly until it hits the needed one
... and so on. You can read more here and here.
On my phone I use SmartassV2 because I don't want lags but I care a little bit for the battery, maybe I am wrong. If I am, can someone correct me
Same here really not sure why it fcs there but never mind

Testing all ICS ROMs ! [Updated : 27-11-12]

Hey Guys ...
Ive tested each of the following ROMs for smoothness , speed , battery life , and bugs(if any) on my mango (mini pro)
i use my fone mostly for browsing, watching videos, messaging, using facebook, whatsapp, viber, skype etc at the same time... i dont play games at all!
Ive used MESA Kernel cos it gives better Battery life so ive started testing with that
ive used smartass v2 governor, and noop i/o scheduler... max freq- 1.018 and min freq- 134.
please press thanks on the individual review post if you think it accurately describes the ROM, that way we can judge the accuracy of the reviews. if your experience with the ROM was any different, please write about it and i will be more careful while testing any future updates. Thank You for your feedback

rage kernel suits with all
XMP rules!!!
in my test:
MESA Kernel: slow boot in XMP (about 1-2 minutes in sony ericsson logo), but is the only problem (i use it actually, for me is the best battery saver with good performance)
Rage kernel: if you dont like slow boot or other bugs is your best option
Kernel Panic: works well, has KSM (i dont see any diference in ram use) and other unique features, but... it has CWM 6 and is buggy (especially with aroma installers and usb mount) and applications like cpu spy doesnt work properly :S
Extended Stock kernel: is the same as stock kernel...
Mesa all tha way.........
thanks for ur feedback ppl
im gonna try MESA coz i really need battery life ! ill see whether the bugs are bearable .. otherwise ill switch to Rage !
Gnna start testing Real ICS lite with MESA !

Real ICS Lite r4 reviewed
ok so m done using real ICS lite r4
it is a very smooth and fast ROM ! noticed very very few lags n stutters. its always lags a little when u move really fast in the gallery. but no1 really moves that fast so that dosent matter.. also sometimes the icons on the widget take a sec to load when u press the home button .. they load up quite fast so its not that irritating. but if u hav too many widgets it myt take a lil more tym i guess. din find any major bugs ...usb otg works fine. this is faster than the AOSP ROM i was using earlier!!
the ROM has a the Xperia launcher with corners and it looks really good (though we cant see the corners in landscape).. its fast and responsive. notification panel has quick seetings and a brightnes slider too. u can choose to install sony apps while flashing through aroma installer (very noob friendly). though i wish
the details of each option were mentioned in the ROMS post so that i kno what im choosing (screenshots).. for example if i knew that the walkman bootanimation had sound along with it i woudnt have chosen it,..
charged the phone to 100% and didnt touch it from 11pm to 5 am .. and the batter came down to 94% ...thats 1% per hour. but on moderate usage through out the day the battery gave up at 7 30 pm ...
on the 2nd day of testin battery lasted from 9 30 pm to 3 30 pm the next day...fone was connected to wifi 65% of the time and on 2g for the rest
the battery life is pretty good i guess... can only say after i chek the other ROMs out as well
i just tested temple run n it runs super smooth with no lag at all...
quadrant : 1429
antutu : 3491
U can test out the ROM urself and dont forget to thank the developer kobzar666 !

well i think the heat problem is just in the device itself.. it's due to constant usage or something could be running in the background.. perhaps your mobile data or wifi?:silly:

But now i can feel heat + battery drain
My mobile used to be active like for 12 hours
Now with no gaming or music or.anything my battery drains only whats app.+ facebook

What kernel and rom would you advice me to go for ?

Hello,
did you try a Fullwipe with Philz Touch Recovery? Just to make sure your device itself is not faulty, did you also experience this problem with a 100% Stock ROM ? I´ve never experienced any heat problems with Boeffla or Yank kernel ( only when using the Siyah kernel a long time ago ).
I can suggest you to try a fullwipe and install the ROM again. Just in case you have installed some malicous Apps, you can also try to track them down with BBS ?

As others already suggested, install a CPU monitoring App that will show what App uses your CPU the most. A lot of heat is always a indication that something is using a lot of your CPU Power. I had a problem like that also and I could easily fix it by looking at what uses my CPU.
