[Q] LENOVO IdeaPad A2107A - i have a lot of questions !? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello,
i bought the new lenovo ideapad a2107a in germany last week.
unfortunately there is no good support by lenovo until now.
i want to buy the original case shown on lenovo us website but can´t find it on web.
where can i buy it ???
another question is, i read about a build in fm-radio at the tablet, but i can´t find the way to switch it on.
can anybody help me ?
and i don´t understand why there are 2 sim slots for 3g / gsm. is there any telephon function too ?
i hope there is somebody who can help me ?
where can i find a manual and description which shows me all functions ?
thank you and best wishes
herbert

Hi...
I am also looking for that FM Radio but I couldn't find, tried one apk from the web but it doesn't work properly.
one more thing this tablet is able to make phone calls (check youtube) but mine has no phone icon, when I called Lenovo people, they've told that in my country (UAE) Lenovo doesn't have the license for that yet and they will get it once they launch their mobile phones, I tried a third party app it gave some license error.
for online user guide check: download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideatab_a2107a_ug/data/EN/index. H T M L

I have this phablet (purchased direct from China).
I have successfully read-back the ROM and am in the process of packaging it for backup purposes using the MTK flash tool.
Additionally I was able to flash a CWR based recovery using MTKdroidtools and successfully flashed gapps. Oddly enough Maps would not install and I had to sideload a recent copy of it. MTKdroidtools root facility also worked without issue.

that's awesome news. I recently bought it myself and have been looking around for a root toolkit.
However, root isn't going to be much helpful without some roms, which i doubt will be available anytime soon.
Lenovo also isn't supporting this tablet so i doubt we'll be able to get past the 4.0 version

could you attach mtkdroidtools or the link to it?

MTK Droid Tools (can't remember where I found it)

Here's the CWR variant I found that works (again, can't recall where I found it). Patch it in with MTKDroidTools and you can then safely apply unsigned updates such as gapps. Be sure to back up your stock ROM first. That way when you're done you can reapply Lenovo's recovery using the same procedure you followed for the CWR version.

One oddity I've found is that BT and wifi crash if they're both on and active. AVRCP is also a little flakey but I can usually get it to work using the as built music.apk.

Most FM radios are only accessible if you have your headphones plugged in, they use the wire as an antenna. Init a suggestion. Try opening the stock Music app, in the menu.

Lenovo a2107a stock, headphones do not bypass speakers
I bought this tab a couple years ago for my wife to use as a reader. Lately she has been reading an ACTUAL BOOK and leaving the tablet at home. This week, while my kids were on winter break and monopolizing my laptop and other devices, I was using the tablet to watch netflix and stream movies from my WLAN. My youngest pointed out, mid Nightmare on Elm Street, that she could still hear the movie even though I had my headphones plugged in. It was then that I realized that the audio was continuing to play through the external speakers while also playing through the headphones. The rom is stock. I did install the MX player and codec to stream the mp4's, but I have not otherwise monkeyed around with the system.
I used a couple of different sets of wired headphones and tried netflix and youtube, and also manually setting the tablet to silent mode, but none of these things fixed the problem. It would seem to me as if there is a driver missing. I'd like to avoid a factory reset if at all possible, unless it would be a guaranteed fix.
This seems like the type of problem which someone with a moderate understanding of the droid os might be able to solve using just their own knowledge base. I'd appreciate any insights.

[Q] (PLEASE HELP) Bricked CX919 Clone

Hi fellow xda'rs,
I recently bought a Android TV Stick from Geek(app) from china.
I thought I had found a bargain as its specs were:-
2GB RAM
Quad Core CPU
16GB Storage
I managed to snap this up for £24 which I thought was a bargain but when I got the device delivered and was using it I thought it was a little on the slow side so I began to think it was a clone as its default OS theme was not the same as the usual CX919's aswell.
So I wanted to flash the device with a new ROM specifically the Finless 1.6b ROM.
So after following the instructions to installing the ROM using the software provided with the ROM download I managed to install the drivers and get the software to recognize the device. I then wiped the NAND and attempted to install the ROM but it failed .
Now the device does not boot at all and is not recognized by the PC. Windows just states the device is not recognized and has malfunctioned
So I cannot flash any other or what I believer I have found to be the original ROM for the clone device.
The board states its a GXT_D16_LP_V1.8 150310
I have seen that there are tutorials on putting the device into Mask Flash mode by shorting pins but as this is for the genuine CX919 my board is totally different and does not have the pins available to short I think.
In short could anyone help me to put this device into Mask Flash mode and tell me what id need to do and what pins to short please?
I have attached a couple of pictures of the device and board.

problem solved! :d
i found the mask flash mode pins to short by trial and error and luckily enough after 1 hour i solved it and got the pc to flash it back to its original rom. If anyone has the same device or issues and would like to know how to solve this i will be happy to help
I would be interested. I have a very similar clone (was supposed to be mk809iv). I have the same board although possibly different chipset.
I haven't bricked it (yet) but will probably do so if I can't find a way to root it. I think it may have come pre-rooted as super su was preinstalled but it has never worked (possibly because the app updated but not the binary?). I have since tried to update the binary and killed the root access completely.
Questions:
Is the ROM you used pre-rooted or rootable (if you've tried)?
Which pins need shorting? I have a button on the side that may be doing the same thing.
OT. How do I upload images or can I not as a new member?
Thanks in advance
any guide? i have the same device or where to download rom?
If your still looking, i might be able to help with a rom, root, and guide.
Thank you but managed to get root the same day you posted. I may still give it a go when my new tv box turns up though if you dont mind posting the info?
For anyone else interested in how I gained root:
1. Search for, download and install kingroot 4.6.5 (this is the version I used, only the latest version is available from official site and cannot be sure next steps will work with it)
2. Run kingroot and follow steps to gain root (dongle may reboot)
3. BUY super sume from play store.
4. Run super sume and follow steps to replace kingroot with super su.
what pins did you short
I am having problems flashing my hdmi stick . I can't get it to flash mode. which pins did you shorted?
can you email me a picture of it? [email protected] thanks

Hello,
Having some problems with this stick .Messed up trying to flash a non rooted rom and now I only get a blue icon in rkbatch tool ( after short pin 5-6 ) and nothing happens. Download boot fail errors for a year...
Can someone help me please?
Is it the same model? What version of rkflash tool are you using. And what version are you trying to flash. In my case I didn't need to short any pins.

I've used several batchtools from 1.5 ( doesn't see my device at all ) to 1.8, different roms ( neomod, finless, stock cx919 roms )hoping one would give me something. All different bootloaders 1.24, 2.08, 2.13,...
I'm going to check mine out. It's been a minute since I used it. But I got the rock chip tool and the img file. I'll zip it up and pm you the link asap.

Observation on the Amlogic M8S S812 boxes.

Hi all,
I recently got hold of one of these OTT M8S boxes and have been banging my head against a wall ever since then. My ultimate objective is to load Openelec onto this and be done. The Android Firmware it comes with is flaky - especially on MPEG2 content (which is amazing considering how well the Pi Zero does with that content).
Trouble is the Firmware that mine came with has no functional recovery partition. Eventually I loaded a new firmware with a recovery using USB_Burning_tool using a stock .img . This image didn't have my WIFI support so I upgraded it using another zip file and the stock recovery method. This went fine, but really I was no nearer my goal since the new recovery firmware has built in signature checking and will only allow firmwares in the same series to be loaded. It seems that this has become a standard feature of all the firmware for these boxes now coming out. So there is no pathway to loading TWRP or Openelec using the standard Firmware - but it won't allow you to break out of the standard firmware signature checking. Deadend !!!
I attempted to dd a functioning TWRP onto the box using shell emulator, but this simply broke the recovery. This suggests that this issue is deeper than just the way the recovery is setup, it suggests that the issue is with the second bootloader (u-boot.ini) which seems to have signature checking built in as well. So no longer can you pick any functioning u-boot.ini file and make a bootable SD-card with Amlogics SDcardMaker.
Fairly locked down altogether, and it would seem that this feature is going to proliferate to all of these boxes since they are all using variants of the same basic Android ROM, which I suspect is issued by AMlogic themselves.
It seems to me that the only way forward is to create alternative ROMS such as Openelec as pure .img files which can be loaded at the raw NAND level using USB_Burning_Tool. None of the developers seem to be addressing this, simply repeating the old approaches which no longer work on these new generation boxes.
A lot of people are thrashing around and bricking their boxes and without a functioning recovery partition these become defacto hard bricks.
So I make a call out for the developers of the unofficial Openelec firmwares to package them as raw .img files rather than OTA zip files which can no longer be sideloaded.
Maybe someone reading this with a functioning Openelec M8S S812 box can do a dd dump and post up a .img file for me to burn into my box. Please.
Stephen
I attempted to use USB_Burning_Tool to burn an Openelec Wetek Core .img file and the program wouldn't pass it. So it seems that not even this is a suitable method of bypassing the bootloaders.
Stephen
However here is a heads up for anyone out there struggling to get a decent performance from their Kodi. I have just loaded up my box with the Wetek Core Kodi 15.2 and I can report that out of the box it solves almost all of the Amlogic codec issues people have been facing and runs all three hardware acceleration tabs. On Tvheadend PVR playback it occassionally does a black screen on channel switches and can be very slow to switch channels, but if you switch channels again and then back to the black screen channel it usually comes back. no stuttering or audio lag what so ever. Can be found here:
http://wetekforums.com/v/index.php?...-2-to-fix-23-976fps-video-sync-issues?p=23662
Here is an interesting quote from the users of this Kodi version, which suggests that the Kodi developers know what the issue are but refuse to address them, I suppose they hate these "pirate boxes" that much :
Blame Kodi for this. By default mpeg4 / divx is not Hardware accelerated. I'm not sure what WeTek did with this version, they may or may not have patched it to re-enable Hardware accelerated mpeg 4 / divx for the Core.
Try playing with the Video > Playback > Hardware acceleration options.
The Android Kodi devs know about this problem and refuse to change what is distributed by default.
Note other Kodi issues on AML.
mpeg2 in .vob files will not play in Kodi on ANY AMLogic platform, they stutter.

If I had to factor in my time to the cost of this box, the WETEK core starts to look a very cheap deal.

I went back to this on a hunch and downgraded my Firmware to cyx_m8s_ap6330_8g2g_150728_SD.rar
this ROM has fully functioning recovery and it Flashes Openelec upgrade ROM by default with the toothpick method. So I tried as many different versions of Openelec for M8S as I could find and the sad news is that they all soft brick my box with the M8 v8_8 board. They all reproduce the same behaviour of preventing the box from booting and no Blue light on power up. Fortunately USB_Burning tool version 2.0.5.13 recovers the box without difficulty (though it usually takes two tries to get it past 3%).
It is my conclusion at this point in time that there is no functional Openelec available for this version of the board.

I worked with Abdul over on this forum and he was able to port a OTT S812 2G/8G M8 4335 TWRP which might work for your box. It was for my M8 v8_6 box. I tried all other TWRPs and they didn't work. I was his guinea pig and this result works great
If you go to the Freaktab dot com forum and look into the "TWRP for Amlogic devices" folder (which is under the "AMLogic based TV Players" folder, go to message 900 and you'll see a link to a TWRP recovery which may work on your machine.
I cannot post the URL due to rules in this website to prevent spam.
Hope it helps you.
Thanks a lot, that TWRP works very well off of a SD-Card.
It also successful boot into TWRP recovery on my box.
Finally some progress and the possibility of loading Openelec open's up.
Cheers.
Stephen
I attempted to use my new power of TWRP to flash a WETEK-Core Openelec development OTA. The result was a soft brick again.
However TWRP opens up new possibilities since I can now flash my Openelec image and then flash the bootloader from a stock rom - since I believe it is the bootloader packaged with Openelec which causes it to soft brick.
Will report back if I am successful.
Update: this strategy still produces a soft brick so the problem must run deeper than the Bootloader.
Maybe you could persuade Abdul to express an opinion on why Openelec soft bricks these boxes as I am sure he would have a good understanding of what was going wrong at the boot sequence.
Stephen
So good news folks. I have manged to get openelec loaded onto my box and its working fine.
My method was to use BootCardMaker and to load onto it the u boot.ini file from my second stock ROM.
I then placed the same u boot.ini file into the root of the same SD-card and then unzipped the image "OpenELEC-Amlogic.arm-M8S-6.0.0.2.zip" into the SD-card root (which I believe I got from the WETEK site). All seem to work fine out of the box and HD works fine. It still has lip sink issues when handling streamed MPEG4 content - but it is definitely using the built in amcodec hardware decoding. Last thing to do is to replace the recovery with the working TWRP and make a full backup of the configured system.
So the issue with all the other builds of Openelec was an incompatible u boot.bin
Openelec is a lot more snappy in the interface than Kodi as an Android app, which is really noticeable when using the crappy remote it came bundled with.
Last thing to check is if the Amcodec has the same zoomed screen issue when outputting composite that exists in the Android version. Hope not.
I can now reload either the working Android or the Openelec using TWRP which is great.
Update: It appears at first glance that this build has no AV support at all.
Stephen
Hi firstly thank you i managed to get twrp on my OTT M8s following your instructions with the link to post 900~
Now i have made a complete backup of my rom but when i try to update a different rom it always reloads my original rom - It goes through the updating apps process but is always my stock rom
Now when i say stock rom that is a bit of a lie, i bricked this box within 20 mins of getting it and had to find a compatible rom, i ended up having to use the usb flashing tool and shorting out pins 28 and 29
there is a problem in the recovery/bootloader/u.boot bin somewhere that will not let me update the firmware
I am currently on a ap6330 but have had it on bcm4335 previously (go figure)
Also when i tried to update it to the latest acemax firmware last night it said 'this rom is for n200c and this box is k200 etc' but CPUZ clearly states my box is a n200c (again go figure)
I am by no means an expert on the file system of Android as a whole but am pretty experienced in flashing roms/cyanogenmod/xposed/twrp etc
Getting twrp running is a small achievement in itself....
It seems that the stock recovery process for installing OTA's checks signatures and will not allow "incompatible" ROM's to be flashed. The only way to get a ROM on there would be to find a full TWRP backup of that ROM and sidestep the standard recovery process.
I am still having issues with mine in that now that I have a working version of Openelec 6.0.0.2 it will not allow me to use the standard method of installing Openelec to downgrade to the 5.95.5 version. I am very happy with the way that Openelec performs, but without AV output it is a dead duck for me.
Looks like it was a wise move to do a full TWRP backup of the Android system as it seems that is the way I am going.
Stephen
Hi Stephen
Yes been trying to update and continually getting the E:error executing updater binary in zip
Could i take the meta-inf file from my working rom and swap it out?
I am not familiar with the more complicated stuff :/
See this comment by abdul in another forum:
On newer versions i have changed device id to k200. What device do you have ? I don't recall having made a TWRP for the MXQ.
That check is made by the update-script inside the flashable zip, I DID NOT MAKE IT CHECK. And "toggle signature verification" is there but it's not related to this.
Just delete the assert in update-script or use a newer version
I have been messing about with some roms and now i cannot restore my backup:/
E: unable to mount storage
Got a feeling i am going to have to start from scratch with usb burning tool
USB Burn tool will generally solve most issues. Only once or twice did it fail to find my Box and then the NAND shorting trick sorted that out.

I have the exact same PCB board M8 V8_8 and am also trying without success to get openelec running on it. Can you please explain the steps and firmwares you were using please and thank you - you are a god to me right now lol
I got the openelec file from the the VectorDroid website where i grabbed the file "OpenELEC-Amlogic.arm-M8S-6.0.0.2.zip" from their download section.
I grabbed Amlogics Bootcard maker from Chinesegadget Reviews. This runs in Windows, but I had no problem using it in VirtualBox running Win7.
I extracted the file "u boot.bin" from the stock ROM "cyx_m8s_v8.6_bcm4335_8g2g_kodi_addons_151013_SD##.rar" (hash represent chinese letters). This is the most critical part since this is the layer which points Openelec to all of the available hardware. Use Bootcard maker to burn this file into a SD_card, and then for good measure add it into the root by a simple file transfer.
Copy the Openelec file into the SD cards root, and then extract it into the root.
The SD card should now be setup and ready to roll. However it will depend on the recovery setup that you have on your box. I cannot remember at this stage whether I used the stock ROM's "cyx_m8s_ap6330_8g2g_150728_SD升级.rar" or "cyx_m8s_v8.6_bcm4335_8g2g_kodi_addons_151013_SD升级.rar" to boot into recovery. My gut feeling at this stage is that the ap6330 has a less secure recovery partition and will recognise the Openelec card better than the bcm4335.
If you have the correct recovery img from the correct ROM it will boot into Openelec via Android stock Recovery and flash the files to you box. Give it at least 15mins as the screen is likely to go blank. Take out the SD card and reboot.
I used TWRP to back up my stock ROM and Kodi setup before I did all this, but if you decide to do this (a good idea) you will need to reload the STOCK ROMs recovery img using TWRP before you can get Openelec to boot since it uses a functional unlocked down version of Android recovery to do the flash.
If this fails to create a working box it will most likely brick your device, but its a simple matter to reflash the "cyx_m8s_ap6330_8g2g_150728_SD升级.rar" ROM using USB_Flash_Tool and start all over again !!
Hope that works for you.
Stephen
Good to know that a change to openelec can brick it because i tried to install
it. I like more the wetek stuff but my box is cheap chinese trash where the
ota-update have a failure.
Well, it's working but the pvr will not work (said no connection but 127.0.0.1
is already set and ports open in my modem...), and a settop box without the
ability to look tv or streams is useless.
any suggestions how to bring the pvr to work? Os is Kodi 15.2 bc jarvis
refused to run on this box.
Most of the versions of Kodi you get bundled with these packages have got no installed PVR support and no release candidates. They are sold purely as streaming candidates.
The only way to get round this is to completely remove the Kodi version and reinstall it from scratch. This will lose all the preconfigured Addons but most of them are useless anyway. Get a release candidate from the Google Play store or from Kodi Foundation and this should either have PVR support built in or should have a release candidate. Its important to get the right PVR support otherwise it will fail to load the dll of the addon and will report as broken. I had the self same problem with my Kodi version on my Opensuse Linux box and solved it by making sure that both the Kodi build and the PVR build came from the same source. Its not really a Kodi problem and you will get no help from their forums.
Stephen
"Most are useless anyway", so right. I tried to install the wetek firmware
(device is rooted) but it seems this chinese counterfeits miss a lot of
system settings ....change thru twrp and uboot-button also failed.
I'm clueless what to do.
Mine settled down quite nicely in the end. I could be running Openelec if it had AV plug support. As it is I settled for nothing fancy - but a version of KITKAT firmware with a fresh install of Kodi from the Google Playstore, has been working OK for months. Any of the WETEK ROMs are likely to be unsatisfactory. Go back to the post where I point out the specific two ROM's which worked for me and use the ROM burning tool from Amlogic. There is very little to be gained by trying to get anything more complex working.
Stephen

I'm not tech savvy enough to just hook up to new computer and check only for the fact that I'm afraid he has something planted to get into my computer if he hasn't already.
There wouldn't be anything on the tablet that would be able to hijack your new computer, unless he works for the NSA.
You can follow the information found here http://droididea.com/update-verizon...6-0-t377vvru1bpd6-firmware-stock-marshmallow/ to update your tablet to the newest stock firmware. This will erase anything he would have done to it. You should also factory reset it as well. I suggest using the Odin method because if it's been modified, the OTA wouldn't work and Kies might not recognize.

Firmware for t95z plus

Can some one point me in the right direction for the firmware for a t95z plus firmware it's a amlogic s912 chipset with 2gb ram
h t t p s://mega.nz/#F!Ix9zmZqC!LIVPa5zPR6XmcwODW42r7Q
Use this method to flash the box:
h t t p://androidpcreview.com/how-to-use-the-amlogic-usb-burning-tool-to-manually-update-firmware/3749/
You will need an usb to usb male cable. Connect to usb1 on the box. No power cable needed.
Worked for me.
are there newer images.. I bought one of these

I got the 3g/32g rom was fast and seemed ok android 7.1
until I upgraded or installed the superuser from chain DD said installed ok and asked to reboot which
I did for it only to hang on the boot animation... so very sad
I suspect its altered or written to the wrong partition?
now need to reflash
recovery works with toothpick
is there a image for this new update? and can it be flash from recovery from sd card so dont need a pc
as pc cable method is more a pain

I add the info for others with bricked boxes or bad ram.. reformat reflash can bring them back
also try a new power pack.. often the voltage degrades over years and drops too low
I used the 3gb with the flashing tool usb to right sid port... leave power plug out.. and insert toothpick and
connect usb from pc.. should beep if pc detects device on USB and the tool should show finally

The above link for 2GB is not working, also can you please clarify for which WiFi chip is the above firmware? There are three versions of T95Z Plus: WiFi 8830, WiFi 6330 and WiFi 6335. If one flashes the wrong version, then WiFi will not be working on his box...
Thanks for this thread. I am fighting with a T95z PLUS 3/32GB stuck on boot. I am going to try the above ROM (the one in gdrive is still available) as soon as I can get a USB cable, and report the results.
EDIT: Is there a way to flash from SD? I have no usb-to-usb cable to try right now, I am going to have to buy one and wait for it...
EDIT 2: Flashed through SD directly. Extracted the contents to a FAT32 formatted SD card and inserted it in the T95Z Plus. Booted normally and proceeded to "upgrade". The box is working right now. Sound are wifi are working - cannot say more than that so far. I don't know if the version is older than the original that came with the box, but I guess it should be possible to update if necessary (not sure how, though).
Thanks @kiwiman2000!
I can see from the boot screen that the firmware posted for the 3/32GB model by Kiwiman2000 with which I recovered my box is the 20170623 version. I know that the one my box had before rescuing it was 20170807, so it is possible that somewhere a newer version is available. The OTA updater is not finding anything online, though. In the meantime I will stick with this working version, and if I happen to find an update, I will post it here.
After playing around with the T95z Plus after installing the above firmware, I started noticing some bugs. First, the Play Store resets itself constantly. It seems every time it updates from the factory version to the current one, whenever you open it, it goes back to factory, asks for permissions again, and resets all settings.
I have tried to replace the system apk with an updated version. This works but only when starting it for the first time. It then fails to open, and will only open again after clearing the app data.
Does anyne know how to correctly fix a broken gapps?
Latest T95Z Plus Firmware. Android v7.1.1 For 2GB RAM/16GB S912 Chipset
Here is the latest firmware for the T95Z Plus Android tv box. Works on Sunvell, and also on Weily branded T95Z plus and probably all models with same chipset. Says android 7.1.2 but it’s actually 7.1.1. Latest firmware for this box tho. Runs great.
Google search “latest t95z plus firmware” and it’ll be the first site you see called entertainmentbox. I can’t post links here as I’m a new user.
You don’t need to use the male to male USB cable method to flash firmware. You can use Burn Card maker and update box using micro sd card. USB burn card maker can flash new firmware and also revive bricked Amlogic based android tv boxes.
search on YouTube for “t95z plus burn card maker” and there are many videos on how to use this method.
Hope this helps, it will get your box updated to Android v7.1.1 build T5ZP1013 kernel v3.14.29 android security patch level February 1, 2017 Model T95ZPLUS despite the build saying T5ZP1013. I assure you it’s the T95Z Plus firmware.
As for google play updating, then returning back to previous version and default settings every time I believe this is to keep the box running without breaking any apps or software for the current firmware. You really only need the version the firmware comes with. If you wish to update keep a lookout for future firmware releases. My box has the same issue as do others I have asked. I also like to have the latest version of everything too so this is what prompted me to check into the google play thing myself.
Happy Flashing!!! -~
T95z Plus will not flash
I have tried over 7 different roms, different usb, ect all the same result
UBOOT/Partition _aml_dtb/Verify patition/Error result can't pass 9%
What does that mean??

I ran into this problem, since Kodi wasn't playing right. I used a script program universal init.d and supersu, and after supersu rebooted the device it hung on reboot. I have an easytone t95zplus but don't see any of their firmware posted online.

You first need to determine the precise model to get the firmware:
1) Is it a 16 or 32 GB model?
2) Is it model q200 or q201?
You can check these by booting into recovery.
Need files for recovery

I am not sure of how to help you- but I will tell you this: I did not use a SD card maker. I just pasted the img file into the root of the SD card AND also included the extra files (which I believe are needed for proper boot and installing) from a different img file package I found somewhere else. So, tell me if this can make sense somehow:
Get the img file you tried to use in step 3 and put it in a SD along the extra files included in the package you used in the second attempt.
This is sort of the way I had to go to fix mine (although, for the sake of truth, my box is pretty unstable now - freeezes and hangs often). I hope an update would come out, but nothing so far.
Hi everybody, I'm just posting to let you know that I have very much upgraded my T95Z Plus 3/32 through the instructions in this thread, which includes firmware and recovery files.
Hopefully someone else can give it a try.
hello,
what / where is the last upgrade / custom rom for T95z plus 2/16gb S912 ?

voyo i8 max , help requested

hi i bought this tablet few weeks ago and i have in my hands for around a week , i'm having some serious issues to use it because the rom basically sucks (continous crash of almost every app, sometimes it reboots by himself etc.)
i wanted to ask if other people have it and if they're facing the same issues , and the most important thing :if there is a twrp and a custom rom to replace this abomination
sorry for my bad english
I received this tablet a week ago and it just restarted once. Not that bad.
I just have another issue: battery charging. Just 3 days ago, I found that the i8 max couldn't be fully charged! Charging stopped at 83% even I plugged in for whole night. I will try the soft-reset tonight and see what happened.
Anyone having similar problem?

Tried using Power + Vol- but the device kept rebooting. Then pressing Power + Vol+ gave me a boot menu. I selected wipe cache and reboot again ...... no luck. The battery meter stayed at 86% after 8 hours of charging
Seems we need a better rom.
Finally i succesfully unlocked bootloader , flashed a twrp (starting with a xiaomi redmi note 4 twrp i make the porting to make it works on voyo)
And flashed superSU too
But the experience on this tablet still sucks
The firmware from voyo website is not able to flash with sp tools , or twrp so is useless .
If somebody successfully port or create an alternative rom for this tab let us know

If you could share instructions and files for bootloader unlock and root to the forum, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Now it's easier
For unlock bootloader you need to download mediatek drivers on Windows and activate usb debug and oem unlock bootloader (or similar) in dev option , from then open a powershell and use adb like other phones
For twrp , google "voyo i8 max twrp" guide and download link are there (i think it s not allowed to post external link)
For root download superSU and flash from twrp
If you need other infos , ask
Sorry for my bad english , it's difficult to write a guide in another language

Hi. Thanks. My difficulty is actually to find the TWRP file for the i8 Max. Googling it leads you to the GetDroidTips website which gives you a link to the twrp file that is on a Russian forum page. However the download link on that Russian forum page is dead. I tried to contact the writer of the article on GetDroidTips website, but he's not responding. All I want really is a valid download link to the twrp file. Everything else I should be able to do fine from there...
Could someone post the TWRP file someplace...
Once I can load TWRP and root I'll make a backup of the bare firmware and make it available.

Hi,
Twrp for Voyo I8 Max
Can someone help please?
Hi all,
I follow Aditya Singh's article to port 3 twrp recoverys for Voyo i8 max.
Installing with SP Flash Tool, I can boot to each recovery of them.
You can choose one of them and I hope it works well on you pad.

I have the i8 Plus framework file that Voyo has for an i8 reload image. I will try my hand at creating TWRP file and see how they differ. Really need to get my device rooted so I can get the CPU control optimised and to see just how much of the OS is faked by parms in the kernel.
Already had one Octa-Core pad that was actually a dual core hyped up. Lucky for me the guy was in the USA and filed for a refund on it. Only found out after I rooted it and reran tests to really see what was on the inside.
Even so, there are a lot of great reviews about my device. Perhaps I'll try my hand at porting Dirty Unicorn, Remix OS, or Android 8.x.
As is, I'll pay my review after I load the second SIM with my new number.

Hi bro,
Honestly, I don't figure out what you mean 'cause my English is poor. I guess you wanna find a method to root your i8 plus. I port a twrp for i8 plus with the same method I mentioned.
Again, I don't guarantee that this recovery will not damage your device. You MUST take risk by yourself.

The file on the Voyo site is for the i8-Plus. I have sent repeated emails to "VoyoJack" and have received no response. I have another email address for him and I will try that way. I have recently tried to review the files and found that the framework is the wrong one. I think Voyo made a mistake in posting it - but it is possible that the same framework loads on both devices. Voyo has yet to confirm this.
The actual .img file is a SP Tools recovery image with scatter. (If you don't know what that means, look up how the SP Tools program works).
hs4842 said:
The framework file, while a .img extension, is actually a zip file with all the ADB pulls of the software. Which makes me think they slapped together something to appease folk like us. But it does contain the boot loader and the scatter files needed to make a working TWRP.

Actually the file is a scatter retrieved file that is an entire copy of the i8 Plus framework - that is loaded on i8 Plus and Max (not sure if loaded on PRO). The USA versions of the i8 Max have additional security measures to keep folks from modifying them. Although bootloader unlock programs for other Voyo products seem to work on this device as well.
The device may very well have fake IMEI numbers. The IMEI number does not pass validation. While they will work on most networks, they are still invalid IMEI numbers. Additionally, the serial numbers of these devices are 0123456789ABCDEF - which means they are common hack loads of Android on the device. Even though the device has great performance, the drawbacks of having them work on LTE networks, and overheating of the communications chip are common problems. The overheating causes the device to cut back on communications. Which pretty much sucks if you are trying to play an onlilne game with multiple users.
I have the Voyo i8 Max with two different carriers loaded. AT&T and T-Mobile respectively. It works. It does what I want it to do. However, the fact this has IMEI issues, is darn near almost impossible to root, and has a support system that sucks (zero communications and support from Voyo) should turn away users that are less daring.

I have confirmed that these files do in fact work. However: A word of caution. I had problems getting my device to boot after installing TWRP. It should be noted that you will have to unlock your boot loader (the Voyo Boot Loader Unlock program for other devices worked for mine too. The Fastboot commands are simple enough to run by hand get the job done). This will wipe your device and reboot.
Since Voyo is a Chinese company, the USA has restrictions on what the device has to employ for security. That includes a trusted, locked bootloader. Once you unlock it your device will display a warning that your device is no longer trusted, and give you a (long) 5 second delay before booting. This will also cause a number of Google services to see your device as not being in compliance.
Translation: You won't be able to watch Netflix on your device....but seriously - Who would want to?? Just load Showbox.apk on it, and Blokada (blokada.org) to kill the ads. (with regards to Blokada - do not load the Mother Of All Ads filter. It will crash blokada)
You must:
1. Install Super User app on your SD Card **BEFORE** you install TWRP. This is the program that cleans up some of the mess the TWRP install leaves behind.
2. Install TWRP via SP Tools. Be sure to backup your recovery.img file before you start (via SP Tools - learn how to use this app before you mess with it)
3. Clear Cache and Delvic cache.
4. Reboot back into Recovery mode
5. Install Super User app. This will clean up the device so you don't get stuck while booting.
At this point you can load and configure your device. Problem is you will not be able to enjoy anything other than GSM speeds (3G) until you fix your IMEI numbers.
***YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING***
6. The IMEI numbers that ship with the Voyo i8 Max are invalid. Go online to site that has an IMEI Generator and generate a IMEI based on Samsung Galaxy LTE device of your choice. Record two of the numbers down (for SIM1 and SIM2). You'll need these in a moment.
Just be careful that the IMEI number you pick is not a duplicate of someone else's phone or you might get blocked.
7. Use the App Ghost Phone to set the new IMEI numbers. After you have set the numbers, shut your phone off for at least 10 minutes. This will let the network forget your device is 3G. After ten minutes turn your device on and if you have 4G LTE in your range, you will see the 4G icon and either another 4G icon, that means you only have 4G in your area for fastest speed, or 4G and LTE noted for LTE speeds.
After I done this I loaded Androoster and Root Booster to speed my device up even further. Bringing the look and feel of my phablet up to workstation level operations. Installed Viper for Android for added sound features and increase of volume (speaker is very weak on the tablet). Added VPN software, Anti-Virus, and Adaware for near ad free use. Although a lot of ads now are fed by the host server of the app and adware does not block those completely.
I have used my machine for almost two months now and really enjoy it. While the device does not have a GPS, Waze does a good job at ignoring this fact. Google Maps is useless on this device without a good Compass. There exists a kit project for a Bluetooth compass that is reported to work with this device.
Be careful of the type of Bluetooth headphones you choose. I have a mono-speaker Cobra trucker headset. It links well but nothing plays through it except phone calls. For generic mono with mic get a gaming bluetooth cheap headset. Or spend the money for Parrot Trucker headset. For Music, direct wire or find a good over-the-ear set that does Bluetooth very well. Found a $10 set on Wish that did the job so well I bought 2 (one for the Mrs.).
I'm still bugging Voyo for the I8 Max install firmware. The one they have is the i8 Plus SD dump. Doesn't work with our gear, but we can use it as a template for mods if necessary. Particularly with TWRP.
I hope this helps. Please click thanks and keep the good stuff rolling...
Need rom dump of I8 Max
Hello,
I'm new to the I8 Max and have had no joy with Voyo, who do not really seem interested in the foreign markets.
I am very interested in your post and I tried to flash the TWRP recovery but now my I8 Max will not work - it is bricked. I need a rom dump of the system from SP Flash Tool or WwR_MTK_2.40 so I can restore the entire firmware including bootloader. If anybody out there can help, it would be appreciated. MediaTek chips are very robust and as long as I can obtain the original firmware, I should be able to flash back to a working state using SP Flash tool. If someone has the correct firmware from the manufacturer, that would be a blessing. I appreciate any and all help offered.

Hi guys. I just boarded the Voyo i8 max ship so lets see what else we find out.
Mine does have GPS. Google maps locks a location with hardware gps only. I don't use google location services and never will (in any of my devices).
No compass still. That's fine with me and I knew beforehand.
I think voyo does have interest in the overseas market as the device has keyboard and manuals in some kind of English but is not interested in having real customer support (as spected from a cheap China device). No suprises for me there.
Screen is a little unresponsive to touch probably because of the plastic screen protector or because of the 'palm rejection' from the pressure pen compatibility. I won't take the screen protector until the pen arrives... if it ever arrives (bought from Geekbuying).
Scroll is sluggish due to kernel tweaks or something but you can 'fix' it.
Awesome solution to the choppy scrolling: SuperTouch app from the play store. I'm amazed this really worked and no root needed to boot! Honesty don't know how that shlt works but it does. Set it to 500 smooth level because I didn't pay for the full app but damn, I might do as well because the recommended smooth level for this device's specs is more than triple! But you need to pay a few bucks.
Audio suck balls. Mono and as loud as a wishper. It almost makes the job done. I will try to hack the butt out of this device in a couple of monts and try to install real speakers and getting stereo might be a challenge depending of how stupid voyo 'engieneers' were.
Cameras are a joke (as spected).
Screen is nice (probably half the reason we bought this device) but spect bleeeding and quirks. Mine has shadow eyeliner at the right edge.
Keyboard is not worth buying unless at a discount or you really, really need a screen cover. I know I do. Plus point being bluetooth, bad point having the worse back shortcut ever. Home is esc, back is that mac flowr thingy + tiny ass backspace and recent apps...kinda shortcut is alt+tab. Alt+F4 is impossible to do with this keyboard.
The experience of the typing. Its usable, better than touch typing the screen while sitting on the desktop, but way worse than using swype, swiftkey or google board gliding. Still a pain because its like typing in a remote control.
It attaches to the device pretty poorly. It preffers to attach to the front of the device.
Unlike the voyo i8 pro this one has google play working out of the box.
Wifi is poor at medium range and unusable at long range. 2.4ghz. Haven't testet 5ghz.
4G is unavailable to me as my carriers only use B2 and B4 which this tablet doesn't support (haven't put a SIM yet but will in a couple weeks).
The pen... buttons don't work according to everyone. I can't tell, mine was never shipped.
That's all so far. I have had this device for almost an hour.
