You can't. HTC / Sprint removed that from the epst.apk. There isn't a modified epst.apk for the evo 4g lte and the only way to change prl us by using cdma tool or some other tool that I forgot. You can find more info in the development section.

Works fine here. Or you can just use a ROM that has Roam Only enabled. Then load 56006 for VZW 3G roaming and call it a day. No need to load on the fly, just flip to roam only.

Ok. I found AnyCut after a little google search. Now the problem is I do not see the PrlWrite activity. I checked both in CM10 and a Sense based rom.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there is yet a widget that will toggle LTE on and off with one click. I'm not asking for one, I'm curious about what makes this difficult to do. I'm sure if it were a simple thing someone would have done it already.
There is one already. Don't know where it's at.

I meant one that will toggle between 4G and 3G, I haven't seen a widget that will do a one touch switch between 4G and 3G.
I was wondering this too. Is there some limitation to it? Did htc not include an api to switch 4G on and off? I believe there's WIMAX 4G widgets and tasker can turn WIMAX 4G on and off, what's different about LTE? The fact that WIMAX is a wifi standard while LTE is is GSM and verizon 3G is cdma?

No they did not because there is no reason to.
Sprint uses 4G more like a hotspot. You enable it, it searches for a 4G signal then connects you to one. If it doesn't find one it gets re disabled.
On our phones, the phone is constantly searching for a 4G signal so when you go to a 3G zone from 4G it automatically switches. I understand you guys are probably worried about battery life which does take a hit from using this in that case you are kind of SOL until someone finds something.
Set your phone to CDMA Auto (PRL) seems to use less battery, and connects to LTE when available with no issues. Found that tip here in one of the forum posts. I'm rooted, but still running stock. Waiting for Inherits from Chingy.

I'm working on a widget for it. I found the file/java class it calls to you when switch between lte/auto (inside settings.apk after you decompile it). Just need to code a simple widget interface button for it and toggle between LTE and EVDO. I have finals this week, but at worse, I'll have time this weekend.
I've never made a widget before, but it gives me a chance to learn by making one that's useful. Learn by experience is the best kind of learning imho

Doesn't the box that it came in says so, but then again that could be a misprint. The Photon supports the following frequencies if I'm not mistaken;
Bands/Modes: WCDMA 850/1900/2100, CDMA 800/1900, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps (Category 10), CDMA EV-DO Release A, EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, HSUPA 7.6 Mbps, eCompass/sGPS /aGPS, 802.11b/802.11g/802.11n, 802.16e. Although I can't confirm 802.11n

I would say that 11115 is the best PRL. It allows full Sprint access, as well as full 3G roaming on Verizon's network.

This man is right. If you find yourself in an area with bad Sprint speeds, simply use Roam Control to force yourself to roam. Then, when you get done what you need to get done, simply jump back to the home network.

You will never get the best speeds on that PRL, it is best to use if you want to limit the amount you roam, but you will sacrifice speed. It is a compromise if you are one of the people that believes you shouldn't be using custom PRL to roam more than you use on network.
What PRL do you recommend if I want to force the roam over to a Verizon tower when I'm in a poor coverage area for Sprint?

24004 is for corporate accounts. The 25004 is the "regular" PRL. You want the one you have .
Don't worry so much about it. PRLs oftentimes differ based on area and such. Some places get new PRLs faster, and some places just get different PRLs. A new PRL isn't a huge deal anyway, since they just decide how your phone roams.

The only one I know if is a GB Sense ROM. Details were discussed in this thread on androidforums.com.
Be careful with that verizon PRL though since that's an easy way to get your service cancelled by the carrier.

I know that's what you asked for but it doesn't exist. If you don't want to flash a GB ROM with an epst.apk that works for changing the PRL, you will have to use QPST or similar utility on a PC with the phone connected in diagnostic mode.
BTW, I saw your post in the app brainstorming thread but I wouldn't hold your breath for one to be developed.

I don't know that there is a "best" but you can get opinions on that in the Evo V 4G forums on androidforums.com. I always recommend staying as close to stock as possible for firmware and PRL's as long as you aren't having problems, and if you are then you should test the different PRL's to see which one best addresses your issues.
My understanding is that Virgin Mobile USA doesn't allow roaming so the Verizon PRL won't do you any good and may actually degrade your service if you try to connect to their towers and get refused.
