Hi,
I bought my son on eof these from Argos, so 2 days in playing we have noticed a random 'static' noise problem. this happens even on browing the web or menus and apps. So is this a fault with the unit or just unlucky for me? secondly I have read a post on another forum that its the Archos firmware that is the problem just updated to 4.07 and still the same issues. Is there a firmware on here i could use to resolve this problem.
Thanks in advance
Mark
I would say it's a hardware fault.
I'm on the latest stock firmware (4.0.7) and experience no unusual sound hiccups.
That said, it might be worth wiping all data and re-flashing with the latest firmware to see if the problem persists.
If it does I would contact Archos or perhaps Argos for a replacement.

Thanks, tried that just the same, argos have replaced it with the same....

I know this is being discussed in the sound quality thread, but I think it needs it's own thread.
This happens on every audio player, and only whilst the screen is off and not connected to charger.
Thanks to StudioMinal for his excellent diagnosis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27381652&postcount=328 and here is the crackling he found: http://studiominal.tistory.com/attachment/[email protected]
No fix from Samsung as of yet. For us non-rooters, it's important we force Samsung to fix this asap as it really distracts from the listening experience and otherwise great sound quality.
Got my S3 few days ago. I have this same problem. Anything I can do to help solving it?
im having same issue. is there any way to fix it? i can root my s3 if there is a chance to kill this cracking sound
ps. ive try flying mode - no help
Yes, my phone has this too, thought it was only my phone but seems others are having the same problem.
Have contacted the store I bought it from and now waiting for reply about what the will do.
Hope the contacted Samsung about this and we will get an fix soon.
I already reported this to Samsung's engineers. They know about it.
Anyone who have any news on This?
I want to avoid root and stuff.
But This issue is major for me.

I just flashed stock UK ROM BLG8 and haven't heard any audio crackle yet. This is in line with reports from other XDA users that BLG6/BLG8 fixes the audio crackle.
Yes. Latest firmware seems to fix this.

Yup, same here. Newest update killed that issue dead!

Hey all, I'm rocking stock, not-rooted, 4.1.1. I get the cracking sound in the stock music player and player pro. No issue for streaming apps like Pandora, etc. The latest software update (about a week or two ago?) did not resolve the issue. Does anyone know if there is an official resolution? I've been reading the main sound quality thread for about two hours and since I'm not rooted, the CPU workaround won't work for me. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
Hello everyone,
I am having a issue with my 2nd brand new phone from TMobile. I sent the first back because the audio and video didn't sync when i recorded video with my phone and transferred them to a pc. When watching the video on the phone itself, it works perfectly. I tried 2 different pc's and a laptop, i tried different cables plugged into different usb ports, emailed a short video, used wmp, vlc, and kies software, updated my codec packs, wiped the cache on my phone, reset to factory condition, changed a setting on the camera to -2, changed the audio to record from camcorder and not the mic, and im sure a few more things I have found on the internet. I've contacted Samsung and TMobile and they both say it was a defective handset and to return it. I did that and received my new unit and still have the same issues. TMobile says it is not a known issue and to return this one also, said there is no way a third unit will have the same problem. I've already spent $40 on shipping and went 2 weeks without a phone (prepaid so no loaners) and don't wish to do it again for another defective phone. Has anyone else had any luck fixing this problem? This is the white s2 from tmobile, never been rooted or hacked so its all stock rom. I have tried the lg camera app also but the app kept freezing every time i would hit the record button.
Thanks in advance for any help given.
Rooting phone
Ok, since I'm not getting any responses with this topic, how about this. Would rooting my phone and using a different rom help? I was told that there was different apps I could use for the camera that would work better then the stock software, is this true? I am open to any suggestions. The odds of me getting 2 different phones that has the same flaw can't be a coincidence and don't really want to go without a phone again for 2 weeks waiting for a replacement with the same problem again.

Hey ellegon18 - browsing for answers to your same question, I came across your thread. Wondering if you (or anyone else) have ever found a fix?
Hi all,
I recently purchased the archos 80 titanium and have found the WiFi seems to be terrible regarding signal strength and also download speeds when connected to a network, I downloaded the new upgrade that was suggested when I first started the device but this seems to of done nothing, does anyone else have this issue or know of any possible solutions to rectify the issue? I've emailed there tech support but I can imagine there response to the issue when I get 1 that is, that it will be an error at my end and not there's!

I have the same issue (seems to be a known issue looking online) but it seems to be better or worse depending on the access point I use.
I have a Plusnet router at home and it was pretty bad with that but I plugged in a D-Link access point in another room and it seems to like that better. When I'm at work I use a Meraki and works well with that too.
I think it seems to be very fussy with access points. I hope they do release an update for the WiFi drivers or something to give it some extra juice!
It's a shame really as the tablet does actually have the potential to be good, I've come to realise that I don't think it's really a software/firmware issue I just think the WiFi receiver's that are in the tablet are of a poor quality but then again I could be wrong just wish they would release some information of a new firmware and what there suggesting the new firmware would be updating to see if there ever planning on addressing the issue.

I'm going to buy it, is this still a problem after the new update?
thanks a lot!
I tried a Skype test call with my XTZ. The volume of my mic was extremely low. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks
Same problem for me :-/

If I'm corect, the mic is placed at the top if the tablet, next to the infrared sensor. That might be part of the reason why it captures poor audio.

I just bought the tablet and I have the same issue. Quite disappointing I say, for a high end device. As the sound in the camera video recording is fine, I can only hope this is a software issue that will be fixed with an update.
I also have this problem. Emailed Sony support, we'll see what happens.
Sony confirmed that the device is faulty and have asked me to return it. Took a while to get through to anyone useful, though. The number I eventually used (in the UK) was 020 8762 5800. That's Sony Mobile Support. I explained the problem and they emailed me return instructions.
So if you have this problem, your device is faulty and you should contact Sony and get it repaired under the warranty.
Just got my SGP321 and discovered this annoying issue (yes, i'm on the latest fw .307)
Anyone on a custom ROM having the same issue?

I have tried different versions of cyanogenmod . All had the issue including the current version cm 11 nightly. Is it a hardware defect or a software? I have lost warranty on this thing so I'm hoping for a magic app or a cm update that addresses the issue. Is there anything out there?
i have same issue on cm11... can anyone help?
same problem with bluetooth headset....
Any help on this? Damn it Sony
A weird thing happened to me:
After installing CM11,no one can here me over the internal mic,and I can only be heard when I use the speaker.
Sometimes,I can be heard very low, sometimes regularly, and sometimes not at all.
All other mics and speakers work just fine,as I can hear everything, from music to videos, but face the exact same problem when recording audio(when on heavy metal vocal lessons ),and when trying to send a voice message over What's App.
Have tried flashing older Jelly Bean roms, using Odin, and have temporarily been able to solve the problem, only finding out the problem persists after a random number of days, differs from rom to rom.
Have been to 3 labs here in Israel, and every time the claim is that the phone is fine,or that it's not a mic problem, but an audio chip one, which is pretty expensive to solve.(not that I mind spending on it,as buying a new decent phone here is double to three times the repair)
The thing is,every time I flash a new rom,a new modem,add a DSP manager,the phone is just fine,at least for a couple of hours,to a few days.
Been thinking it's a software, rather than a hardware issue,so am here to consult with you.
Should I:
1.Flash a stock rom again, but try one that's been altered for the Israeli user?
2.Flash CM12 Beta,in hopes a lollipop would keep fix it....
BTW:
Is flashing with Odin like wiping the system and data partitions?
I've been using numerous roms over the years, from ICS to Kitkat.
Never ever have I faced such a weird problem......
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Yohai.
I'm also having the same issue....
Some others also have the same issue...See the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/confused-t2777776
I did forum search...Many seems to have this issue...And the problem is still un solved
I also checked if its hardware...But the phone repair guy is saying everything is fine with the mic...
Someone needs to seriously check this problem...
Currently on NEAT ROM v6.4 (4.1.2)...Few hours of usage, the mic is still working...

I don't know a stock rom that has been modified by an israeli user. You should try flashing neatrom lite first by Sale. CM12 beta won't improve anything (although it might). Most problems regarding to phone calls are to do with flashing 4.4.4 roms, most of them are caused by not flashing roms properly. Reverting to older version of android will (most of the time) solve your problem.

Did the issue happen with stock samsung rom? If no, you might have to use that.
SOLUTION!!!
Today,I went to a lab, which came out to be not the cheapest, but the most professional:
Seams out,the problem was with the mic itself, and the best solution was to replace the entire charging flat.(the mic is just a part of it,and in order to avoid future problems,it is best advised to replace the flat itself, not just the soldered mic)
After going to eat and returning an hour later-problem solved!
This just shows you,how some "professional" labs are hiring retarded technicians.
All you have to do is listen, and think SIMPLE!!!
Cheers and thanks for answering!!
In hope of contributing something to XDA's community,
Yohai.

One query
Charging flat means - the board containing the mic, charging socket etc..?
And what's the price for that?

Flat=Board,yeah.
Here,we call it a "flat",I guess 'cause it's a flat board.....
The price?150 NIS,others charge about 90-129 NIS.
How much is it in $?
150 NIS= about 42$
I'm beginning a course,next week,which will qualify me as a Mobile Technician.
Sadly,I couldn't replace the flat myself,as I have no knowledge on how to do it,but if I knew, the board itself would have cost me about 30 NIS+VAT.
See the big difference?
Knowledge=Money,my friend.
Peace!
Yohai.
