Hi everyone,
I have noticed that often upper part of touch screen display acts as if i'm touching the screen. That means that it starts selecting and opening everything that's located in upper part of the display.
Has anyone noticed it? I tested 4 different roms, same behaviour occurs on almost daily basis.
When it happens only reboot helps so it leads me to believe that it is a software issue.
I really hope i'm not the only one with this weird issue.
Cheers!

I have this problem where it touches everywhere of the screen. It was because I was using a bad charger from CHINA. LOL
I've had this problem before On stock Xperia s.
Reason: I was testing out things and disabled some of the stock applications. THAT was what causing the random clicking on the screen. Other than that I don't know then.
Might be some apps you've downloaded?
I actually cannot remember if it was happening on pure stock (without any removed apps).
Hope that is the cause. Thank you for your feedback!

I'm using stock and I've had this issue once, last night while connecting my phone to PC! I was scared that it is hardware issue, until it works again when reboot!

I'm using original charger so it's not that whats causing it.
It also happens when phone is not on charger.
I keep my screen very clean, plus reboot fixes it so it cannot be issue with dirty screen.
Still trying to figure it out, it could be due some deleted app via tools like titanium backup etc.

I didn't remove mine, I disabled the apps but not ant.
Either way, someone at the Sony forum told me that the ant is needed by the system. That might be the reason why? Try installing it back on the phone. And I don't know what hal is.
Rmb to reboot
Ive had the same problem now and then but only when using pattern unlock and for somehow it has been waken in my pocket and then the screen gone berserk. Always been fixed by putting the phone to sleep. Ive had it on stock and rooted roms.
Acro S reporting the same issues, i removed most of the junk including ant which is a lot, fixed by rebooting.

Mine flips out when i plug my phone with aux to an caraudio system. No problems with different headsets.
Also connecting with usb 2/3.
And when i charge it (stock 1500mah).
If i clean my screen the problem is getting less.

don't remove the HAL, as far as I know it is something related to phone sensors and other hardware stuff... maybe if you removed HAL, that is the source of the bug?
Chinese and cheap chargers cause that problem...use branded chargers only cause they are made for perfect current and power supply..

Wow someone dug this thread up from the grave
Anyone else experiencing a slight lag when pressing the home button and it going to the home launcher? It's like.. a second. You press it and it waits a second and then goes.
Also, anyone else seeing weird dots on some letters? For instance, sometimes on the letter "r" on a page, I'll see a little dot on all the "r"s on the page. They scroll right along with the letter. I set it to small font, so that might be it. I put it back to normal and am trying to see if it'll happen again, just checking to see if anyone else has this issue.
Thanks
Anyone? :<
I have not seen this. Are you using a different launcher?
Can you screenshot these dots? I'm curious.
Yes I would say there is probably a 1 second delay between when I press the home button while in an app and the time the home screen comes up which I assume is normal. I have not seen the "r" issue but I also haven't changed text size... although I did change from the default font to another one without any issues.
I've been trying to get it to do the dot issue all day since switching to normal sized fonts. I'll try to switch back and see if it does it and get a screenshot.
I'm just using the stock TW launcher, I'm rooted though. I had this before root, though.

Notice the lines in the capital H's and the little dots on the lowercase n's? It goes away after you switch screens, but it'll hijack one letter and add a dot somewhere on the letter on the entire page. This is on default normal sized font. Haven't tried factory restore yet.

Skinomi, but they still charge you $2-3 for a replacement, instead of the full $12. Maybe I'll try a different one this time because the Skinomi was being torn up around the edges from my TPU case.
EDIT: Just called them, they're going to be sending me a replacement screen protector free of charge! She said that you need to let it adhere for a few days without the case, and they make them with a little leeway so that cases don't tear them up. What great customer service! Going to exchange my phone tonight. Nobody else has had this issue it seems so exchanging should solve it. Hopefully I don't get another problem with a new one.
Hi guys.
I came to realise that some S3 also suffer from black crush like the Note. So I went to try playing the Glee video , the screen went very bad and almost the whole screen is pixelated from 0.36-0.38 (lightings). It's not really black crush but rather bluish white blocks occur on lightings.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cay2dnuhcs
When there's transitions from white to gray, gray to black and vice versa is bad, there are also pixelated blocks there. (last attachment)
Here are some example photos,
*These are on full brightness

The bluish white blocks are too ugly to see. I've compared with the iPhone 4S and the iPhone seems to handle the lightings very well in full brightness(no obvious blocks)
Brightness does the trick too, when I lower the brightness to under 40%, the blocks are not as visible but once I go higher than that, ugly scenes show up again.
supercurio tweeted that there's already a solution for this but I must root my phone to get it fixed. I'm pretty sure that it's not a hardware issue because there's an app that temporarily fix this issue but it may harm my screen as the app itself warned me. The app is "Filter My Screen".
I hope there's a firmware update that will solve this problem so that I don't need to root my phone just to get this fixed.
Helps are appreciated.

I looked through most of the posts about black crush already. I don't think that my issue is black crush, but I could be wrong.

Maybe you'd get an answer if your pictures actually showed up.... just saying..
Are the pictures not visible?
I re-attached the pictures to show the pixelation issue.

Hmm. No pixelation issues here.
Could someone explain about the bluish blocks? It's really ugly compared to the iPhone 4S.
For the gray image, you can see the transition from light gray to dark gray, the blocks are visible too.

It could possibly be a low quality version of the video. How is the screen when you perform other tasks? When using the phone to watch youtube check if HQ is enabled and if watching over 3G or HSPA network make sure that 'High Quality over mobile' is enabled.

I've tried all normal quality, HQ and HD quality, the pixelated blocks are still there, even on a 6000 x 4000 image, once there's transition from white to gray, gray to black or vice versa, ugly blocks will appear.
I've tested the gamma calibration with the "21-0 image", I am able to see a gradual fade from 21 to 7 only, 0-7 is pure black.
Help please?

Could be a defect with your phone. You could also try flashing a newer firmware and see if that fixes the problem.
I'm on LF1 now. It's already the newest firmware here in Malaysia if I'm not wrong?
Well, I'm able to get a significant 'fix' by using the "Filter your screen" app, but it's not perfect and it may harm my screen if I use it in a long time frame. So I guess it's not a hardware issue?
Is there any good solution for this?
Helps are appreciated.

Worked for me.. Uncheck auto rotation then turn off phone, take out sim card and battery wait 5 seconds then put both back in and boot phone, wait about 15 seconds to boot completely then turn on auto rotation.. Bam working
anyone encountered a flickering display when opening small apps and when using the keyboard? any fix on this bug?
this is frequently happens in browsers when typing using the on screen keyboards..

I upgraded the system to 4.3.
When I use the virtual keyboard the screen flashes / flickers.
No solution is a reboot.
I've re-installed completely empty system.
What is wrong?
How to solve this problem?
Thx,
Balazs
My tablet doesn't have this issue, so maybe a factory reset might help

Factoring reset doesn't help...
But it seems to help if I turn off the Bravia engine...

Could be related to xposed framework?
Inviato dal mio SGP311 con Tapatalk 4
No, I have Xposed on my tablet, and the display doesn't flicker.
Everyone will have this screen flickering issue, if you use the official Xperia Keyboard and Google Chrome the screen flickers, this is due to a software issue its a 4.3 bug .. I have posted on official Xperia care fourms hopefully!Sony will issue a fix soon...

What a BS to claim that, just because you have the flicker, everyone must have the flicker...

and what a BS REPLY.. hapy new year by the way..
as i have said, it happens occasionally and when its flickers its annoying..
this is a valid complain and i isolated it already..
firstly - after 4.3 update, noticed it after few our of writing posts using chrome and the xperia keyboard plus when playing videos using small video player.. stock firmware not US
secondly - thinking restoring to factory settings will solve this bug, i restored it but with no luck and with same result..
lastly - flash the ftf US generic version using flashtool thinking that my previos firmware might be corrupted..but again with no luck..after few hours of typing, here comes the flickering bug again..
to wrap it up, you also have this bug somewhere, use your xperia keyboard or use the small app video player to see that BS bug... but you are lucky if it doesn't shows..hehehe
First, you guys must do a factory reset from RECOVERY, not from inside Android as you most probably did.
Second, I use the Xperia keyboard and am not able to induce the slightest kind of flicker when using Chrome. So I am the proof that not everyone has it. Since only a few people report it is a false claim to say that it is a common phenomenon, period.
