the stock A2.1 which came with my x10mp is ok, but now I'm finding many apps on the market which need A2.2+, and some nice features are missing (like native usb tethering, hotspot mode, I know there are apps on the market which provide these as a workaround "addon" but its nicer to have these supported natively).
the question is: should I install a custom ROM which provides features of A2.3 or later? would these ROMs run smoothly on the not-so-powerful x10mp? do they provide full functionality, or for example, the camera won't work?
which ROMs are recommended?
TIA

He sent you to the wrong dev-section, here is the link for the x10mp
tnx
i reccomend that rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116
MiniCM7 2.2.1 and ArcMini Nxt6 are your best choices.
You can also experiment with other roms based on ics or jb but I wouldn't recommend that.
x10 mini and x10 mini pro work like "beasts" with roms based on 2.3.7. Best day-to-day use at the moment...
I think the best rom for U20i is new GingerDX (mimmi) its smooth, stable, fast. But u cant overclock so much here so if u want bigger overclock try MiniCM7 by nAa, enjoy.

Hey, Admins.. I want to know which is the best custom roms available for xperia x10 mini pro>>>
Thnx in advance...

Make sure u read the install instructions to avoid problems.

I suggest Ginger DxV14 . No Battery drain issues at all. Me using it
Not the original version as it had issues with Messaging.
Replace the mms.apk.
To do this replace the mms.apk in the system/app using 7-zip in the computer and then move the ROM to sd card and install
if you like a minimal rom try 2.1.1Clean.0.0 from pfonck
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206625&page=21.
if you like advanced settings and options try gin tonic SE from slade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207740
read carefully the discription in the thread and anything works fine. Don`t forget to thank them for the work

Thankx very much Guys for this Suggestion.
But
i just installed custom rom MiniCM7_V21 on my smartphone Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
This rom is absolutely amazing. Thanks to all those who built this rom but i have some problems in this rom though this rom is amazing in comparision to android 2.1 update-1. Some of tiny things make SE Original Android 2.1 better than this custom rom Some of the problems i felt in using this rom are:
1) Wifi not working properly.
2) No Youtube application and Not working when installed manually.
3) No Google Maps.
4) Although Camera application is better than previous custom roms the Camera application of android 2.1 is far better.
5) Browser wont download smoothly like in SE Original Android 2.1
6) Both Tethering and portable wifi hotspots option doesnt works.
7) Very poor battery life (i.e 4/5 hours standby)
8) And The phone lags frequently.
These are some of the problems i felt in using this custom rom.
Do You know how to Fix these problems???
I would say there is no "best" rom out there. Each rom works differently on each phone and also down to user preference.
I'm using Flame.e v0.3 on ZombiePanic Kernal and i'm happy with the rom after a few minor adjustments.
Battery life was a slight issue after i installed the apps i use frequently. Buit after installing juice defender i have noted about x2.19 extra in battery life (was getting 12 hours, now getting around 24 hours
I'm using MiniCM7Pro V21 by paul-xxx. It's my favourite rom.
I also tried a few other ones but this is still the best for me.
Greetings, Steiff

I've not used MiniCM7Pro coz I have the mini not mini pro ( x10 mini ) and that is for the pro (The One with hardware keyboard ) So, if you have the pro go for the MiniCM7Pro v21 Final coz it has to bug free or very less bugs, I think so go for the later version if u have u20a or u20i or else u have to use the Mini CM 2.1.9 as I am using..Hope I have helped you......
i'm using MiniCM7-2.1.9
it's great rom
Hi,
I am using MiniCM7 2.1.9 since months, and what I can say is that latest version has not bug and it is fast....what expecting more ?
I'm using CM7 2.1.9 too. The latest kernel by Nobodyatlall simply amazing because it has ICS transition and the rom is by far the best for X10 mini device. Furthermore, my friend simply try to install Ungaze Data2sd and this makes it has plenty of internal memory (the script add up the ext partition internal storage).
I tryed both of them and what I can say (without any bad feeling toward anyone) MiniCM7-2.1.9 is more completed and bug free (I found 0) than MiniCM7Pro (problems with tethering and hot-spot, no possibility fo switch on-off flash-light from power widgrt in task bar.. and probably more).. Anyway probably the only one advantage is use of Go Ex Louncher that I use.. Performance is equal based on a subective feelings but not measured via benchmark (I do not believe them..) In case You have specific questions feel free to ask.. I hope to be able to answer You
i use this [ROM] GingerDX | is CM7 2.1.9 too with more stuf

Problem number 1:
This is the mini forum, not the mini pro forum.
Problem number 2:
You posted in DEVELOPMENT section just to ask which rom is better. Next time, post in the Q&A. development is, as the name obviously states, only for Android development(new roms, kernels etc)

I had MiniCM7 from V7-V21 about 4 months, all in all, great rom, BUT if you have unlocked bootloader, MiniCM7-2.1.9 + Kernel nAa-11 definitely this rom. Its much more responsive, faster, stable,no bugs (mine clocked 768mhz is flying),and its fully updated...
Just hit Thanks...
Before you flame me ...I don't own this device.
I have checked out several of the roms that have been built for this device.
I am wondering which is the most stable, what features do you like about it, how far are the ICS ports?
I am curious because I will be installing one of these based on YOUR reccomendations for someone else as I do not own the device.
I would greatly appreciate device specific pros, cons, tips and tweaks.
I am particularly interested in miniCM7 as I have CM7 on my lg gt540 but checking out the thread I have seen many issues with wifi etc.
So to sum it up I am looking to you... the experts on the x10minipro.
Help me make the right choice for someone else.

GB roms are the most stable ones. ICS has problems with adreno libs but as of today qualcomm released the drivers. cant really say but heres what i have used.
[ROM] MiniCM7-2.2.0 [29/3/12]Gingerbread 2.3.7/CM7.2 unofficial port for the pro
Pros:
very stable
many features
used by majority IMO
many tweaks
Cons:
boot loader needs unlocking - tricky for some i guess
needs custom kernel - same reason
[ROM] MiniCM7Pro - V21 FINAL + Lite Versions
Pros:
does not need unlocked bootloader
easy intallation
stable as well
Cons:
less tweaks compared to the other one
no updates for some time
note: this is for my u20i because you did not say what phone your using.

Ya sorry I forgot to mention x10 mini pro u20I
Unlocking bootloader seems to be pretty straightforward.
Follow the guides and I should have no problem is basically what you are saying then.
Edit: lol i just realized that u were asking for the model number. Duhhh.

Good suggestion i will do so. I did notice that my basebands don't exactly match as the last 3 numbers are different.

Ok... so i did some checking and it seems that my baseband is not compatible to flash directly.... but... for my U20i i can install the european baseband and then flash the custom kernel and then install the rom. Correct?
Btw i tried the cwm version... very nice work.
Like i said before i dont care if i brick my stuff but other people dont really like that.
ROm SimpleXity2.1 also very stable and fast
nAa's rom very cool

Ya i would have to agree. I successfully installed it after following one of the many guides and am rockin minicm7 2.2
Kinda jealous tho... some of the features i dont have on my GT540 running CM7.
IMO is the MiniCM the best ROM for the Xperia x10 mini and pro
Hi
I've got quick question:
Since I can't unlock bootloader (11w43) and instal custom kernel (or maybe there is any way to do that...? ;>), which ROM is fastest and most stable? I've tried few roms and if You know something better than GingerDX it would be cool
I'm asking, becouse there are no modules for GDX on web and it's kinda lack of funcionality :/

MiniCM7 (by nAa) yes, but MiniCM7Pro (by Bpaul) is GB2.3.7 for stock kernel.
You have gintonic by slade87 too, which is what i'm currently using at this moment for almost a year now

Afeter one day testing: mCM7 is great aat performance and battery uptime, but I've got one problem: I can't install PowerAMP and Unlocker due to insufficient memory, and these are first apps I'm installing... Also changing default installation destination to SD card via adb terminal didn't helped with that, so... It's time to buy winamp
I can't find any issues with insufficient space in the ROM's dev thread, in fact, one guy says he had installed about 89 apps... I wouldn't buy WinAmp just yet if you have a problem with installing apps.
I vaguely remember having read something about an issue like that, but the solution escapes me, mainly because i haven't experienced it myself... There should be enough app-space on your data-partition to install at least a couple of applications, maybe a full wipe or maybe format /data in CWM (mounts and storage menu) will clear your problem.

You can use this thread if you look for stock kernel based ROM. Just Scroll down to PRO section then stock based ROM.
My friend is asking me to root his phone, and install a custom rom, so I was wondering what do you guys recommend to install on his phone? Which rom is the most stable and best for every day use? I just need stability over speed.

For now it's gingersony v06, you just need to flash a led fix ( only bug ) but the rest is fast and stable, it just has the problem that every rom has: getting stuck in the keyboard when scrolling maximum up/down on the sym/smiles, you just need to be gentle in that part.
The most syable roms will be Zencefil and Semc Debrand when the new version is released, zencefil may have more battery time of all and semc will be the most stable with that scrolling problem fixed.
If i helped press thanks .
AW: [Q] What's the most stable rom for the X10MP?
I agree to Crazy Seed, Gingersony is the best for the moment, but if you don't want to go through the pain of unlocking the bootloader and flashing a new kernel, I would recommend SonyStyle by BPaul, or, infact, GingerDX pro.
PS: Here is a list of most ROMs for X10 mini pro, you can go through the lists there, too, if you want:

Well, that is a good question: I'm a 'wannabe' dev myself, so I made a rom based on slimroms, which is based on minicm10. I solved the problem of too little space on the data partition, but the performance is still not comparable to cm7 and the sound isn't very good. Everything is working, just a bit slower than on cm7. Do you maybe want to test the rom?

Wow, the first time I hear that project butter is slower then the 2.3.7 version Not really since it's not my phone. I own a Huawei G300 with CM10.1 on it and I can't believe that CM7 works better then CM10 on any device...

You know, the problem is the hardware of our phone: There´s to little internal space and to little RAM, so we can´t really use the, compared with cm7, heavyweight cm10 to its full extent, ask Crazy Seed if you don´t believe me, he tested the ROM for me .

I believe you, but damn, such a waste, you're missing out on a whole new experience. Anyway thanks for all the answers, I guess I'll install the CM7!
Yes it's true, cm7 is the best rom for the mini pro and cm10 is simply too much heavy for out phone, i honestly don't think there will ever be a 100% stable fast cm10 for this phone because the hardware can't take it. Kilroy's cm10 rom it's true that has more space, and it's still in constant testing for perfecting the rom, there's still a long way to go but in time there will be solutions. I don't know why so many people want JB roms instead of GB roms, i tested both and the only difference i saw was that the cm7 performance was way too much better, but it goes with the tastes and choices of people.
Ps: sorry kilroy but i have to disagree about the other roms you mentioned, sonystyle has many bugs and lags and gingerdx has a radio bug and effect rendering not automatic at boot, but xperia blaze 3 rom is good for stock kernel and has walkman player ( i just don't like the srs trumedia that they put in the rom, best to remove it ), or else you just have to go trough the pain of unlocking bootloader and stuff to get Gingersony v06 the best rom for now.
Ps: Kilroy about jb players, now that i mentioned walkman player, why don't you try that one? xD.
Minicm7. its fast, very stable and excellent for everyday use. battery life is good. i have not had any major problems with it. Its awesome!
as been said before in this post, and also my opinion, GingerSony is now the best rom around for x10mini pro
