I would like to install either an ice cream sandwhich or jelly bean rom on my galaxy tab 7 (the original one, not the plus). I looked around on the forums and it appears that cyanogenmod 10, for jelly bean, is still pretty buggy. So that is why I am going with ice cream sandwhich for now. I found cyanogenmod 9 and SGTZ7. The problem is that I don't know which to install. They both sound like the same thing to me except that in the SGTZ& thread it is described as being more official and supporting a wider range of devices. Which should I install?
that CM9 that you see is for the other versions the WIFI version is gt-p1010

Hi people,
I have a rooted Galaxy PLayer YP-G1 (4.0)
I have been looking for an ICS rom but have failed to find one.
But what I DID find is CM7... so before flashing it, is it an ICS rom? I'm confused because from the pictures, it looks like ICS but when I read the description, it says its based off 2.3.6.
Anyone willing to help?
CM7 is based off of android 2.3 gingerbread.
CM9 is based off of android ICS.

You're confused.
Firstly, Android is a free OS that carriers/developers can use. What your referring to as "newly official released 4.1.2 Jelly Bean" is simply Samsung using a version of Android OS and then adding their software/tweaks to it. They happen to have used v4.1.2 of Android for their latest release.
Latest version of Android is v4.2.1 which is what Cyanogenmod is based on.
CM looks more like real stock Android whereas Samsung rom has a completely different UI experience as it uses its own TouchWiz UI.
If you want to know differences try them.
Hi,
I have been searching high and low for a custom ROM based on Android 4, which will run on my Galaxy Ace S5830i but can't find any.
All the ROMs I've come accross so far are based on Gingerbread, and simply themed to look like Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. For example, JellyBlast 3.0.5 is based on Gingerbread and themed to look like Jelly Bean, so are Simplicity v4, MindCr ROM 2.7, Excalibur 4.5, and all the others I've found.
So my question is this: Are there any custom ROMs available for the Galaxy Ace S5830i which are actually based on Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean, or are they all based on Gingerbread and simply themed to look like Android 4?
Thanks for your help!

Pls. use Q&A thread for ace i for your questions......
At most, an alpha version of Cyanogenmod based on ICS... But its not the fault of developers, but the manufacturer instead, for not releasing drivers for the components... I'm not completely blaming Samsung, but Broadcom... Without drivers, any progress is really slow...

Hello!
I would like to use my old smartphone as a webcam that takes picture every 1 hour and uploads it automatically to FTP server. In my country there is no electricity so I will use solar panel to charge the phone. Does anyone know if there is this kind of app for older Android?
The phone is Sony Ericsson Xperia active
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), upgradable to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
There are many apps available that claim to morph an Android device into a webcam. But they all require Android 5+, AFAIK
For Android 4+ there is some in Playstore but many older ones don't exist there anymore.
Use for example Apkpure to find older versions..
MobileWebCam "should run on Android 1.5 up".
